I’ve come to Murakami, Niigata. Found tea fields covered with fences. A scene only snow country knows. At this shop, I bought “Murakami Tea.” It’s called Ginreiーimages of winter snow The most popular tea in this shop. Here are the tea leaves Dark green in color Finely textured grains Adding tea leaves Pouring 85°C hot water Steeping for about 45 seconds Pouring into the cup A calm green-colored tea As I held the cup, a soft aroma quietly rose The taste of “Murakami Tea” from Japan’s northernmost tea region has almost no bitterness A gentle, mellow flavor It reminds me of the summer tea fields. Rising up into the sky, what came into view was the Sea of Japan spreading peacefully— And the Miomote River flowing gently toward the sea Summer was lovely, but… Next time, I’d love to sip this tea While watching the snow fall Special Thanks: Hokuseien
