かつて350万人の観光客が来訪した場所にある廃墟【昭和遺産】

The rocks here are squishy. What’s that sound? [Music] Hello, everyone. This is Ito from Wakayama-mon TV. Today, I’d like to visit the prefabricated ruins in Wakaura, Wakayama Prefecture. I went there a few years ago, but construction was going on and I couldn’t go. I think the construction is finished now, so I’ll give it a try. [Music] This is Wakaura, but recently it ‘s been called Wakaura. It’s a scenic spot and a nationally designated scenic spot. There used to be a stomachache medicine called Wakanoura , but I remember you had to take a really big dose of it . Does anyone remember? [Music] We’ve arrived at the parking lot, so we’ll walk there. [Music] This is the Great Buddha I came here to photograph before. Apparently, it’s privately owned by a wealthy person . [Applause] Oh no. I’m starting to feel dizzy. Oops, the plaza is closed today. [Music] [Music] [Applause] Earth God. Coincidentally, this steel frame looks like a torii gate . [Music] This steel frame is apparently the remains of an elevated promenade . Oh, is this an old lighthouse? From here, it’s the sandy beach. Mr. West. [Applause] [Music] It’s been eroded so much. People have made changes here and there. It seems that a hotel called Shikaitei used to be here. Only the foundations remain. I wonder if you can follow a helicopter? I don’t know. [Music] The rocks are curved here, too. Actually, there are beautiful patterns on the stairs around here . [ Applause] [Music] Wow, we’ve come a long way. Even on a weekday, there are a lot of customers. It says “things stay the same” with all the twists and turns. All right. I need to be careful not to fall. It’s hot. Hey, I thought it’d be cooler today if I didn’t go to the shade. By the way, construction on the Yamabe Akahito tourist promenade seems to be finished. It’s trash. No good. There’s a Rega wall. Oh, it looks so beautiful from here. There’s someone on it, but I can’t make out his face. Wow. It seems like this place still has traces of its past. This is the former site of the aquarium. However, construction took place between 1920 and 1923, but the aquarium never opened. These PVC pipes are new, aren’t they? They’re filled with concrete. I wonder what that is all about. For some reason, this area is amazing. These stone strata, the bricks are like they’re attached to the rocks. [Music] Noise [Music] Well, they’re wilted, but there are lots of morning glories. Okay. Yeah, I’ve come across a small beach. There’s something there. Wow. Around 1950, Wakaura was a popular honeymoon spot. Apparently, 3.5 million tourists visited at its peak. It’s deserted now, but the scenery is just as beautiful as it was 70 years ago. The only difference is the scorching heat. It’s getting tropical. They’re closing off the road over there. Oh, this, this is it . Ruins called the Frehub Ruins. This is what I was looking for. It was under construction a while ago, but I wonder if it was some kind of abandoned marine sports facility. Amazing. It seems there used to be a fence around here too. Well, there’s nothing left of course. This has been there for quite some time. So, this is the closed off area, [Applause] Are they going to do more construction? It’s closed off. This has now become an abandoned hotel, but I filmed it from the outside before. The window’s open there. It’s visible. [Applause] Yeah. You can get pretty close. No, you can zoom in quite a bit. I wonder what that is. Maybe they’re closing it off to cut down trees. This is nice. Autofocus. [Applause] You can see Kimiidera from here. Kimiidera is visible. No, this might be even more amazing than a video camera. 今回は以前に行こうとして工事中で行けなかった廃墟を撮影しに和歌山県の和歌山市和歌浦へ行ってきました。
和歌浦はかつては350万人も観光客が訪れたという日本屈指の観光地でしたが現在は廃業したホテルや旅館があり、ちょっと寂しいことになってます。
万葉集にも詠われる和歌浦のきれいな風景と廃墟は良かったです。
ただ気温が34度もあったのでちょっとくらくらしましたね。
