Hiroshima Drive 4K | Kure to Central Hiroshima, Japan

This drive takes you from Kure to Central Hiroshima.
Kure is famous as a maritime city, known for its deep connection to the naval industry and history. As you drive, you’ll see the numerous shipyards lining the bay.

There are two famous military museums located near the Kure Station: the JMSDF Kure Museum and the Yamato Museum (also known as the Kure Maritime Museum).

The JMSDF Kure Museum (also known as the “Iron Whale Museum”) features the submarine Akishio, which was in service until 2004.
You can even walk inside a part of the submarine.
The Yamato Museum is dedicated to the history of Kure’s naval port and its shipbuilding heritage. The highlight is a massive 1/10-scale model of the battleship Yamato, the largest battleship of World War II. It also exhibits the Suicide Torpedo Kaiten.

After leaving Kure, our journey continues along Route 31, following the beautiful coastline and heading towards Central Hiroshima City.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is located south of Genbaku Dome (Atomic Bomb Dome), which still remains at the nearly close to the epicenter of the atomic bomb explosion.
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum within the park tells the story of the city before and after the atomic bombing, and how it affected its citizens.
