福井の死ぬまでに見たい穴場絶景スポット7選
Seven Hidden Scenic Spots in Fukui: Approximately 300 meters east from the parking lot. Arriving at the entrance, the large tower pillars of the suspension bridge immediately come into view. Kazura Bridge. Ikeda Town, Imadate District, Fukui Prefecture. This 4-meter-long, 12-meter-high suspension bridge spans the Asuwa River. It was recreated in 1989 from a bridge that existed until the early Showa period. Crossing the bridge, it sways dramatically with the footing, and the wide spacing between the steps makes for a thrilling experience. In some places, there are gaps of about 15 cm. Looking upstream, the river forks into one. This convergence of the two is considered an auspicious power spot. Looking up from under the bridge, Kazura Bridge creates a beautiful contrast with the surrounding greenery. The promenade offers a soothing view, complemented by the sound of babbling. Beyond the bridge is a rest area, complete with a moss-covered waterwheel. From Kazura Bridge, we head 20 km along the mountain path to our next destination, Ryusogataki Falls. Along the way, we came across the construction site of the Asuwa River Dam, scheduled for completion in 2029. Once completed, it will be the tallest dam in Japan, boasting a height of 96 meters and second only to the Kuzuryu Dam in size for disaster prevention. After walking about 200 meters from the parking lot, the sound of the waterfall gradually becomes louder and louder. Eventually, the famous 60-meter-high waterfall comes into view. Ryusogataki Falls , as its name suggests, is said to be a place where a dragon raced up the falls to ascend to heaven . The water is crystal clear, and the sight of it plunging into the basin is a breathtaking sight. This large-scale waterfall, selected as one of Japan’s 100 best waterfalls, is known as a power spot that heals the mind and body of visitors. Our next destination was the Castle in the Sky Observatory. After 20 kilometers along the mountain path , we arrived at a spectacular spot offering a view of Echizen Ono Castle floating in a sea of clouds. A sign near the parking lot indicated the route. Despite the warning of bears, we were a little nervous, but we arrived at our destination, 1.2 kilometers up the mountain at an elevation of 250 meters. There was a road closure sign, but pedestrians were allowed through. The warmth of the locals is evident in the walking sticks they leave out for you to use . Finally, the mountain trail begins. The path gradually narrows and the gradient gets steeper. A sign indicating 300 meters left encourages us. As we reach the top of the final slope… Ono Castle finally appears. Ono Castle, the “Castle in the Sky,” is located 249 meters above sea level. Looking down from the observation deck, it’s true to its air of a castle in the sky, even without the sea of clouds. The sea of clouds can be seen from October to April. It’s said to occur at most 10 days a year. While I wasn’t able to see it this time , I hope to see it floating among the clouds someday. Hiraizumi Hakusan Shrine. Hiraizumi Hakusan Shrine, with a history dating back to the Nara period (710 years ago), boasts over 1,300 years of history. Hidden behind tourist destinations like Eiheiji Temple and Tojinbo, it receives limited visitors. This is precisely why you can experience a quiet, mystical atmosphere. Once you pass through the first torii gate, you’ll see the image of a huge religious city that once boasted 48 shrines, 36 halls, and 6,000 Buddhist temples . The moss-covered stone-paved approach to the temple and the majestic cedar grove quietly tell the story of its former prosperity. The chozuya (water purification fountain) standing on the approach to the temple, along with the pure sound of running water, further enhances the mystical atmosphere of the sacred grounds. The second torii gate. Beyond this is a place where the beauty of the moss is particularly striking. A grand, primitive world of greenery, so different from Kyoto’s moss temples, that it is also known as the “moss temple” spreads out before you. The worship hall was burned down in the Ikko Ikki uprising in 1574. At the time, it was 83 meters wide and is said to have been a spectacular building that surpassed even Sanjusangendo. The current main shrine was rebuilt in 1795 by Matsudaira Shigetomi, the feudal lord of Fukui. Its karahafu (gabled roof) features intricate carvings of ascending and descending dragons, creating a simple yet majestic elegance. Hokoshima Island. This cliff-side island features the same columnar jointing as Tojinbo. Its appearance resembles a standing spear, hence its name. It measures 80 meters in circumference and 50 meters in height. Covered throughout by columnar jointing, it exudes a rugged yet beautiful natural formation. At the summit is Hokoshima Shrine, a small shrine dedicated to Acala. Legend has it that a local fisherman retrieved the statue from the sea and enshrined it , protecting him from storms and bringing him bountiful catches . The shrine remains a popular destination today. From the summit, visitors can see Kamejima Island, Tojinbo Island, and Oshima Island beyond, offering a spectacular panoramic view of the Sea of Japan. Hokoshima Island sparkles in the setting sun. The sunset between the islands is a mystical sight. The sun sinks over Hokoshima Island. Zenigahama Beach, located on the northern side of the Echizen Coast, offers a close-up look at the unusual rock formations created by the forces of nature. Cracks in the rocks, known as “wind holes,” and overlapping rock faces of different colors create a unique landscape unique to the Echizen Coast. The park has a parking lot, making access easy. The sunset is beautiful, and the orange glow is a moving sight. Yoborimon Gate, characterized by a gaping cavern in a rock jutting out into the sea, is a natural formation created by wind and wave erosion. National Route 305 once passed through this wind hole. Now, with the opening of a tunnel next to it, it’s quiet and deserted. Cross the footbridge to enjoy the landscape, maintained as part of a quasi-national park. It’s also known as a spectacular spot for sunsets. The sun will soon be setting. Thank you for watching. Please subscribe to our channel.
