Hello, Onomichi Trip in Summer ! I wanted to see the ocean, so I came to Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. I’m leaving Onomichi for the Setouchi Island Cruise. 🚢 The boat departs from Onomichi Port at 1:45 PM. Until then, let’s explore the city of Onomichi! ♪ Onomichi, a city of hills. First, I head to a cafe on the hillside. It takes about eight minutes to climb the stairs. Whew, whew, whew… It’s hot, I take a breather. Finally, I arrive! This hidden cafe, a traditional Japanese house, has a nostalgic, relaxing atmosphere. One corner of the shop houses the “Onomichi Bunko,” a collection of works by writers with ties to Onomichi. Apparently , there’s even a rare first edition of Shiga Naoya’s work! Apparently, Onomichi is the number one producer of peaches in Hiroshima Prefecture. The syrup is homemade and has a gentle sweetness. The sweet and sour summer flavor was very cozy and relaxing. It was delicious, thank you for the meal. The higher we climb, the more pleasant the breeze… and the beautiful scenery makes it worth the climb. A little further on, we reach Senkoji Temple. We’ll do some cafe hopping! This cafe is attached to the guesthouse “Miharashitei.” As the name suggests, the view is breathtaking! ・Gorgonzola cheesecake・Hassaku juice ・American biscuits・Hot coffee Warm, chewy biscuits. Even more delicious with maple syrup. The cheesecake has a subtle honey scent. Truly hassaku! A rich flavor. It was delicious, thank you for the meal. Now, let’s go down the hill. Next, we visited a general store along the train tracks. Letterpress printing has a unique texture. Apparently, the store also offers letterpress printing experiences, which are rare these days. There are a variety of goods printed with letterpress printing on display. There’s a certain warmth to the letters. It was a wonderful shop that warmed my heart. ♪ Hoping to eat there later during the cruise, I headed to a bakery near Onomichi Station (coincidentally, the name of the shop is perfect for a cruise!). The bread, made with homemade yeast, looked deliciously chewy and chewy! I’m looking forward to enjoying it later! This general goods store is located on the second floor of a retro building. It stocks a selection of items related to food, clothing, and shelter. I was intrigued by the soft, soft linen clothing. After looking around, I bought a dress and pants. ♪ The prices were relatively reasonable. It’s so nice to find something wonderful while traveling. ☺ The selection of tableware and other items was also stylish. The back alleys around here seem even more interesting . I didn’t have time this time, but I’d love to visit again . As departure time approached, I headed to Onomichi Port. This time, I was departing on the “Sea Spica” for a trip to the Setouchi Islands! Let’s set off! This time, I took the “Shimanami Course” from Onomichi to Hiroshima. This approximately 4.5-hour boat trip includes a Shimanami cruise from the boat, a stroll around the Mitarai area, and a tour of the Kure Air Base. Please join us for a relaxing boat trip! 🚢 The Tatara Bridge comes into view . Next up is Omishima Bridge! I’ve always dreamed of cycling the Shimanami Kaido, but I don’t have the stamina… so it’s nice to be able to enjoy the view from the boat!♪ Just staring blankly. A moment of calm. The ocean is majestic . Now, we’re disembarking in the Mitarai area of Osaki-Shimojima. Waiting for the tide and the wind, we’re in a port town. Mitarai, which flourished as a trading port during the Edo period, is designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The townscape retains its former charm… “Old Ochi Hospital.” We boarded the “Virgo” again! Ondo Strait comes into view! We’ve arrived at Kure! The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Kure Air Base. It’s impressive to see submarines and escort ships up close! The sunset from the sea is exceptional… We arrived in Hiroshima. It was a fun Shimatabi cruise ☺ After this, we enjoyed visiting shops in Hiroshima. [Please look forward to the second half of the video!] Now, let’s head to Hiroshima Station ♪ Thank you for watching! Hope to see you soon, have a nice day ♪
