北海道湧別町　アッケシソウ群落 Yubetsu Town, Hokkaido Akkeshi-so (Salicornia europaea) colony

北海道湧別町にあるアッケシソウ群落です。

アッケシソウ（厚岸草） は別名「サンゴソウ」とも呼ばれ、紅葉のように真っ赤に色づく植物です。

北海道内では湧別町の「サロマ湖畔」が有名な群生地のひとつです。

特に秋（9月中旬〜10月上旬）に一面が赤いじゅうたんのようになり、日本一の群落といわれています。

This is the Akkeshi-so (Salicornia europaea) colony in Yubetsu Town, Hokkaido.

Akkeshi-so, also known as “Sango-so” (coral grass), turns bright red in autumn, resembling autumn leaves.

One of the most famous habitats in Hokkaido is along Lake Saroma in Yubetsu Town.

Especially from mid-September to early October, the entire area transforms into a vast red carpet, and it is said to be the largest colony in Japan.
