Mount Fuji is an active volcano in Japan, with an elevation of 3,775.56 m and a peak of 3,776.12 m, making it the highest free-standing mountain in Japan. Its graceful appearance is widely known as a symbol of Japan, even outside of Japan. It straddles Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures. It has been the subject of numerous artworks and has a major impact on society not only artistically, but also geologically, including its climate and strata.
