We’ve arrived at Kiyama PA (outbound). (9:40am)
~ Kiyama PA (outbound) ~ This is what the parking lot looks like. *~ Kiyama PA (outbound) ~* Let’s take a look inside the store. *~ Kiyama PA (outbound) ~* This place has a wide selection of souvenirs, so we’ll take our time looking around. *~ Kiyama PA (outbound) ~* There are a ton of “Hakata Torimon.” This is probably Fukuoka’s best-selling snack right now. *~ Kiyama PA (outbound) ~* The founding family had a dispute and the snack was split into “Tyrolean” and “Yoderun.” It’s a delicious, but sad snack. *~ Kiyama PA (outbound) ~* I love this snack. The nostalgic dough and peanuts are the best. *~Kiyama PA (outbound)~* They have Shibusawa-san’s curry, which is the hot topic on the new banknotes. *~Kiyama PA (outbound)~* This is “Hakata Stroll.” I tried the gyokuro flavor for the first time. *~Kiyama PA (outbound)~* “Arita-yaki Cheesecake” and “Arita-yaki Curry.” The dishes are cute, and my wife and I are debating which one to buy. *~Kiyama PA (outbound)~* Return to the parking lot. *~Kiyama PA (outbound)~* Continue onward. We set off. (10:00) We merge onto the Oita Expressway. We can see the Kirin Beer Fukuoka Factory. I’d like to go on a factory tour again. We’re almost at Yamada SA (outbound). We’ll stop by for a bit. We’ll circle around to the SA. There are quite a few cars here too. We’ve arrived at Yamada SA (outbound). (10:20) ~Yamada SA (outbound)~ It looks like the expressway is right next to it. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* This is the parking lot. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* Heading towards the building. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* There is a really beautiful dog. (So cute) *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* Let’s take a look inside the store. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* There is a highway SA/PA stamp. I received an “SA/PA stamp”. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* Take a little stroll around the store. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* This is “Ryoyu Bread” from my hometown Fukuoka. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* This is rusk from my hometown “Fukuya”. I bought it the other day. The packaging is cute. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* I also bought this apple pie at a roadside station nearby before. It was delicious. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* Kiyama PA had “Yoderun”, but here it’s “Tyrolean”. Both are delicious, so I hope they get along well. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* This is a collaboration product between “NO COFFEE” and “Tyrolian.” *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* This is also a collaboration product between “Attack on Titan” and “Manhattan.” *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* I bought a “Yukimi Daifuku” and a “Tyrolian.” *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* I bought: – Tyrolian “NO COFFEE x Tyrolian” (1,080 yen) – Yukimi Daifuku (172 yen) *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* I returned to the parking lot. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* The parking lot and building. *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* I had a “Yukimi Daifuku.” *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* Looks delicious!! *~Yamada SA (outbound)~* I moved on. I set off. (10:50) Of course, I also went around in circles on the way back to the highway. It’s almost time to get off the highway. It’s quite a ride to the exit. We exit at Hita IC (outbound). The toll is 1,890 yen. We head toward Aso. This used to be a local product center, but it’s been converted into a convenience store. This area looks like a nice place for touring. This is the Oyama Roadside Station. Since the author of “Attack on Titan” is from Hita, there are collaboration products and a museum. Up ahead, we stop by Matsubara Dam. We arrive at Matsubara Dam (11:40 AM). We take a quick look around. *Matsubara Dam* This dam appears to have been built over 50 years ago. “Umebayashi Lake” (Plum Lake) is the name of the artificial lake created by the dam’s construction, apparently named after the local specialty, “ume” (plums). *Matsubara Dam* What an amazing view. It’s beautiful. *Matsubara Dam* We go a little further in. *Matsubara Dam* We continue on. This is the view from the other side of the dam. The slope is steep. *~Matsubara Dam~* We continue on. We set off. (11:55) We can see the railroad bridge. It wasn’t on the plan, but we saw what looked like an observation deck, so we stopped off for a bit. We arrived at Kuju Waita Observation Park. (12:15) ~Kuju Waita Observation Park~ We take a little stroll. *~Kuju Waita Observation Park~* There seem to be shops and other things here. *~Kuju Waita Observation Park~* This appears to be the entrance to the observation deck. Here we go. *~Kuju Waita Observation Park~* Looks delicious!! *~Kuju Waita Observation Park~* This is what the grounds look like. It’s spacious. *~Kuju Waita Observation Park~* We had a relaxing time. It was fun. *~Kuju Waita Observation Park~* We continue on. We’re setting off. (12:35) Next we’re heading to Daikanbo. The weather is nice. We can see cows. It looks spacious and pleasant. It’s a typical Aso landscape, and the view is perfect for a drive. We ‘re almost at Daikanbo. We stop by. There are quite a lot of cars. The weather is nice today, so everyone is coming. It’s been a while since we’ve been to Daikanbo in good weather either. The parking lot is completely full.
