Tatara Village – 玉鋼の記憶|島根県雲南市 たたらの里・田部土蔵群

[Music] Shimanete was once a land forged by iron. In Yoshida, Unan City, the Tanabete family storehouses still stand, silent witnesses to the legacy of Tatara iron making. For centuries, the Tanabet clan guided this tradition, transforming iron, sand, and charcoal in clay furnaces into tamahagane. From black sand came Tamahagane, smelted in fire and refined with patience. The precious steel at the heart of the samurai sword. With the breath of a bellows, you step into the world of the swordsmith, the roar of flame, the ring of hammer and steel, a craft of strength and devotion passed down through time. And then the old streets of Yoshida unfold before you. Wooden houses, narrow lanes, a quiet rhythm of life. Here, past and present meet, and the timeless spirit of Japan still lives on. [Music]
