【福井】雨の永平寺|雨音と読経の声と鐘の音に癒される
Dinner at the Grandvrio Hotel Unazuki Onsen is a hotel buffet. There’s all-you-can-drink alcohol! As well as all-you-can-eat pork shabu -shabu , there are many other dishes, including roast beef and sushi. When you think of Toyama, you think of yellowtail. After dinner, we head to the lobby. There’s a free drinks corner at the back of the lobby. There’s also all-you-can-drink beer in the post-bath corner of the large public bath! This is the yukata corner. You can choose your favorite pattern. We return to our room. A Japanese-style room with twin beds. Good night. Good morning! It’s the third morning. The rain just won’t let up. My plan for today was to ride the trolley, but with this rain, I couldn’t enjoy the scenery, and the Kurobe River is pretty muddy. So I decided to give up on the trolley ride and take it easy, stopping at roadside stations and eating delicious food, and head back to see if there’s a hot spring I could find on my way home. The Kurobe River looks like this , and it’s fast-flowing and muddy. Due to the earthquake, the trolley only goes as far as Nekomata . There’s a hot spring somewhere in between, and I’d hoped to go for a dip, but given the current, I gave up. On the left is Kurobe Unazuki Onsen Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen. Unazuki Onsen is a hot spring resort that developed alongside the Kurobe Gorge exploration and the Kurobe River power development, and is also the base for the Kurobe Gorge Railway trolley train. I decided to head to Kurobe Fishing Port, where there’s a farmer’s market called Uo no Eki Ijiro. I arrived at Kurobe Fishing Port . The Toretatekan and Dekitatekan restaurants are connected by a wooden deck. The restaurant is filled with the seafood and mountain produce of the Hokuriku region. Half-price crab ! Snow crab! Yellowtail Spanish mackerel, and whole skipjack tuna? Stonefish . I don’t have much experience with stonefish, so they’re delicious, but I’ve never really eaten them. Stonefish, button shrimp, sweet shrimp, and oh! Gasu shrimp! Fresh mackerel for a cheap price ! Gasu shrimp are caught in the Hokuriku region and are delicious shrimp that can only be eaten locally because they lose their freshness quickly. In addition to fresh fish, they also sell processed products. After much deliberation, I decided to head to Eiheiji Temple. Eiheiji Temple is the head temple of the Soto Zen sect in Eiheiji Town, Fukui Prefecture . It is famous for being featured on New Year’s Eve TV programs, where the bells ring on New Year’s Eve are rang live . I headed west on National Route 8, passing Yamanaka Onsen and heading up a mountain path. After crossing the Kuzuryu River, we’re almost at our destination. We’ve arrived at Eiheiji Temple. This is the building called Kisshokaku, located directly in front of the approach to Eiheiji Temple. From here, regular visitors follow a designated route to worship. We change into slippers and enter the temple . The route is clearly marked. Here’s a full view of Eiheiji Temple . This is the Sasshōkaku. Each building is connected by a corridor, allowing visitors to worship without getting wet. This area gets very snowy in winter, so perhaps these corridors are used to protect the premises. The building on the left is the Sodo Hall, and the one on the right is the Butsuden Hall. Many monks still train at Eiheiji Temple. A memorial service appears to have begun in the Hatto Hall (lecture hall) ahead. This is the Joyoden Hall. Eiheiji Temple is very picturesque in the rain. This is the Sanmon Gate of Eiheiji Temple. The road from here to the approach is blocked off, preventing visitors from passing through. Statues of the Four Heavenly Kings are enshrined within the Sanmon Gate and the Seven Halls . In Buddhism, the Four Heavenly Kings stand in the north, south, east and west directions and are guardian deities who protect Buddhism. Outside the Sanmon gate there is a bell tower. From the Sanmon gate you can see the Chujakumon Gate. This is the Eiheiji temple seal . There are souvenir shops and so on , and we were at Eiheiji –
what did you think? Eiheiji in the rain has such a charming atmosphere, and it’s so huge, there are so many halls and over 100 monks chanting sutras, it’s just a spectacular sight. The sound of the rain and the voices chanting are amazing, and this is
the souvenir shop street, and there are all kinds of things… Sesame tofu, this is probably an official supplier to Eiheiji, it’s the sesame tofu used in vegetarian cuisine, and there is also grated soba noodles. There are wooden carvings (Buddha statues) and prayer beads, and even though it ‘s a lineup unique to the temple town, it’s a bit special , so they were selling striped onyx and ammonite fossils, Eiheiji chestnut buns , this is also an official supplier, it seems I have a lot of business to attend to, so I went on a trip to Toyama and Fukui. I’m a little disappointed that I couldn’t go to any of the places I wanted to go yesterday. I actually wanted to ride the trolley train today, but I couldn’t ride that either . But instead, Eiheiji Temple in the rain was really nice. It was very atmospheric, and the sound of the rain and the sound of the sutras chanting kind of cleansed my soul. What did you think? It was great. Kurobe was amazing, wasn’t it?
Yes, it was a place I’d wanted to go at least once , so I’m glad I went. I’m heading back to Osaka now. Thank you for watching.
