In winter Kushiro area of Hokkaido hosts hundreds Japanese Red Crowned Cranes and the best view is in Tsurui Village! But when it gets warm all those cranes will spread out over a huge area all the way to the ocean and each family tries to raise two babies however most of the time one will die or be eaten by foxes…it is almost impossible to see a crane family raising their chick but if you stay at their property, Mr. Wada an amazing photographer and local guide and the owner of Hotel Taito will take you on a paid morning tour and you will have the one in a million chance to see the cranes with their baby. We were so lucky today that the crane walked past our car you can see how huge these birds actually are!! And I got to shoot few family shots although such moments end very fast as the birds walk away and it becomes too far. But a totally worth it experience and it is part of the extended tour to Cape Kirakotan and the Marshlands!
