夏こそ会津。美しい風景と歴史をたどる福島観光|大内宿|さざえ堂|猪苗代湖|湯野上温泉
Hello everyone, today I’m taking a summer trip to Fukushima. I’m taking the Shinkansen from Tokyo Station and heading to Koriyama. The reason I decided to go to Fukushima is because… I want to eat negi soba! What kind of trip will this be, inspired by food? After an hour and a half on the Shinkansen, I arrive at Koriyama Station. From here, I rent a car and head to Kamitohama Beach. I arrive at Kamitohama Beach and get out of the car to take a little walk. Fukushima is a beautiful place with beautiful nature. Dragonflies are also resting in the shade of the trees. There are few people, so it may be a hidden gem. I can get a panoramic view of Lake Inawashiro . “Inawashiro” is pronounced “Inawashiro.” The lake has very clear water. It is said to be the fourth largest lake in Japan, with Lake Biwa being number one. The autumn leaves are also beautiful. After driving a little further, I arrived about halfway through the lake. I bought an iced coffee and took a break. There was a wide variety of snacks, including rice dishes and soft serve ice cream, so it was just the right place to take a break. The waves are small and the water is clean, so people who want to enjoy swimming in the lake can also drive a little further and there is a sightseeing boat that takes you around Lake Inawashiro . The very cute “Hakucho Maru” is a sightseeing boat that takes you around the lake. Apparently it runs once an hour, but I didn’t have time to take it this time, so I came to Aizuwakamatsu. My goal was to see the Sazaedo, a designated national important cultural property. The moving slope (slope conveyor) costs 250 yen for adults, but I decided to go by stairs, which are free. At the top of the hill is the site of the Byakkotai suicides . There are graves of the 19 Byakkotai members who committed suicide here on Iimoriyama. The Byakkotai were a unit made up of 16-17 year olds. Their duty was security, but apparently they were forced to go to war due to the worsening war situation. It is still a place that many people visit today. When I went there, I saw a lot of things. The history that was just a passage from a book suddenly becomes more real to me. I feel the preciousness of being alive in this present age. I arrive at my destination, Sazaedo. It is a hexagonal three-story hall with a double helix structure. It is the only wooden building in the world. Admission is 400 yen for adults. There is a one-way ramp, but no one passes anyone on the way there or back. It is a mysterious structure that is hard to understand intuitively. It is covered in talismans to the point of being scary. Next, I head to Ouchi-juku, the main destination of this trip. It is a 40-minute drive and I arrive there. It is well past lunchtime, but I am craving some negi soba! I have fond memories of coming here as a child to eat with my family. Thinking about dinner, my husband ordered tokoroten noodles. I, of course, ordered “negi soba” (green onion soba). The aroma of green onions was wonderful. He recommended eating it with green onions , but it seemed difficult for me . Summer sounds were delicious, thank you very much. Remaining the atmosphere of the Edo period, there are rows of thatched roof houses. In order to preserve the scenery, it seems that it has been used as both a store and a residence. Thatched roofs are made of Japanese pampas grass, which keeps the area cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The beautiful scenery has been preserved. Various stalls are lined up in each shop selling souvenirs and crafts. After having a good time, we decided to head to our lodging. We arrived at Fujiryukan. It’s a 10-minute drive from Uchijuku, and includes two meals per night. It’s still light out, so I decided to take a short walk outside the inn. I arrived at Yunokami Onsen Station, located across the river. It’s a rare station building with a thatched roof. A two-car train arrives with the 5 o’clock chime. Outside the station, there’s also a foot bath. On my way back, I came across a bridge that the inn staff had told me about . There was no traffic, and all I could hear was the cool sound of the river flowing directly below. I wonder where I should go next . It’s a hot summer, but I want to enjoy it. I went to the places I wanted to go, ate what I wanted, and it was a fulfilling trip. I’m looking forward to a relaxing bath in the hot springs, dinner, and some sake. Finally, here are some photos of dinner. Thank you for watching until the end.
