【滋賀 日帰り】JR湖西線の観光スポット巡り!びわ湖バレイとオススメの絶景ランチ| 比叡山坂本|びわ湖バレイ|琵琶湖|滋賀旅行

Hello! This is Bubu Travel. Today, I’m taking a day trip to Lake Biwa’s west side, Kosai! We’ll be touring the tourist spots on the JR Kosei Line. However, today’s high temperature was 37.9°C. It was so scorching hot that I gave up on the train trip. It’s the end of July. I ‘ll be renting a car at short notice, but I’m looking forward to enjoying the day despite the heat. Lake Biwa in sight! The summer scenery is so relaxing! Excited by the occasional glimpses of Lake Biwa from the train window, I arrived at my first destination, Biwako Valley! Biwako Valley is a ski resort located at an altitude of 1,100m. From spring to fall, it’s a popular tourist spot for its spectacular views of Lake Biwa. After a short climb up the mountain, I arrived at the ropeway station. I’d heard it would be crowded even on weekdays during the summer vacation season, so I arrived first thing in the morning, and lo and behold! It was completely empty. I’d already purchased my ticket online in advance. Advance tickets save 400 yen. Parking is an additional 1,000 yen for cars. This ropeway is huge! It can apparently hold 121 people! It must take a tremendous amount of power to move it. The interior is new and spacious, so it feels like riding a bus. It’s hard to convey in the video, but it goes up at an incredible speed! I feel a bit light-hearted and it’s fun. The scenery is beautiful, too. However, with the windows closed and only two small ceiling fans, it’s quite hot. 26 01:02:05,525 –> 01:02:09,512 We finally arrived! It took five minutes to reach the top. It’s cool! It’s much cooler than the outside, and I’m excited. This is the ropeway we rode on. Even from the outside, you can see how fast it goes. The path is nicely landscaped with well-maintained plants. But it might still be hot in the sun… It’s cool in the shade, though… It’s probably best to take precautions against heatstroke in midsummer. I arrived at the entrance to the terrace. Wow! What a spectacular view! Lake Biwa is magnificent!! The sky and the lake are endless. There’s a cafe next door, with terrace seating. The dragonflies flitting across the water’s surface were adorable. But I really must have chosen the wrong day to come. The heat is unbearable. I can say this now, but it was the hottest day in the last few weeks… The scenery is truly beautiful, but there’s no shade at all, and the sun is intense. This is the impression of someone who came on a 38-degree day. It might have been completely different if the temperature had been just a few degrees cooler. But, since I’d come all this way, I decided to go to another spectacular spot. It seems I’ll be taking two different lifts. First, I’ll ride the Uchimi lift. The lift fee is included in the ticket price, so it’s free. I can see another lift. Is that an athletic facility? They’re doing some construction, so I wonder if some new facilities are being built? The other lift, up close, is incredibly steep! Who knew you could ski from places like that! Being so uncoordinated, I’ll never be able to do such a feat. So, we headed to the other “Horai Lift.” This one is a rare four-seater. Once you sit down, a staff member lowers the safety bar, but… the man’s feet got locked in, which is quite unusual. The creaking sound of the rope is so realistic. This lift is so much faster and more fun than the last one! We’ve come so much higher. What a spectacular view! It must be amazing to ski with this view in winter! We’ve reached the summit! It’s cool! In the shade, it’s like a natural air conditioner. We’ve arrived at our destination, “Café 360.” I later found out it was renovated just 20 days ago. It offers a 360-degree view. It’s a luxury to be able to see such a view from the top of the mountain without having to climb. A spectacular view! But it would be incredibly refreshing if there was a breeze. Sadly, there was no wind today. The sun was even stronger. If I hadn’t been wearing a hat, it might have been awful. There was no shade, so I quickly looked around and quietly retreated. If it hadn’t been such a scorching hot day, I would have preferred to relax. After walking a little, I found a shrine at the top of the mountain. It’s a beautiful shrine with a mystical atmosphere. I took a rest inside. It was cool inside the building. The lift going down was many times more thrilling than the one going up. The moment my feet lifted off the ground felt like an attraction and was fun. However, I sat in the wrong position, so the lift was uneven. It only seats four people, so make sure you sit evenly. I returned to where the terrace was. I decided to take a break before getting off. The heat was getting to me. So, I headed to the cafe on the terrace. You can only choose between terrace or indoor seating; you can’t reserve a seat. Maybe it’s the heat that makes it seem cooler just looking at the cooler box. Ah, indoors is the best! On a day like today, this was the perfect choice. The view of Lake Biwa from indoors was amazing. It’s also nice to have a menu featuring Shiga specialties. This adberry milk was delicious! It’s apparently made with berries, a specialty of Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture. It’s a bit pricey, but each dish was rich and satisfying. Despite the hot weather, the ropeway ride up was packed with people. I ‘m glad I came first thing in the morning. The view from the lift on the way back was also quite good. Crossing the support pillars was a thrill. I bought some souvenirs before returning to the car. This snack had a rich, delicious shrimp flavor. I stayed for about three hours. Next, I headed to lunch, which was the thing I was most looking forward to today. It’s a 30-minute drive south from Biwako Valley. By train, it’s a 20-minute walk from Katata Station on the JR Kosei Line. I arrived at a restaurant called “Pecorino”! Enjoy authentic Italian food with a spectacular view. I’ve been here once before, but I loved it so much I decided to return. It’s a popular restaurant, so reservations are recommended. I previously stopped by on my way back from Ogoto Onsen. Located along Lake Biwa, the view is amazing. You can even see the Ukimido, a Japanese Heritage Site, from the window. I wanted to have the same lasagna lunch as last time, but it seems to be sold out, so I’m wondering what to order. I remember the bread and butter being incredibly delicious. Speaking of dishes that go well with bread, beef stew is probably the best. I’m also drawn to the “slow-cooked beef cheek”! After ordering, the appetizer arrived first. The salt on the edge of the plate was artistic. I wonder if smelt would be good with this. All the vegetables were fresh and delicious. Being able to try a little bit of everything is great. I live in a neighborhood with no restaurants, so this extraordinary experience is truly a blessing. The beef stew arrived too. It looks delicious. I was surprised at the amount of meat in this stew…! And each piece is quite large. It’s so crumbly it melts in your mouth…so delicious! Even if you’re not too worried about the menu, I definitely recommend it. I was so engrossed in the meat that I forgot to take pictures of the bread… it’s French bread and focaccia. The butter is delicious!! It goes amazingly well with bread too!! If I saw this butter on the market, I would definitely buy it. It’s so delicious. It also came with a mini pancake and a drink, so it’s a great deal. It was such a happy time. Thank you for the meal♪ There was also a cat that came to play. There was one next to the shop. It looked sleepy. I also visited the Ukimido temple, which I could see from the shop. The entrance fee is 300 yen, but the view is great and it’s a recommended temple♪ Once inside the temple grounds, you can see the Ukimido temple and Lake Biwa in front of you. There is a magnificent pine tree that will stop you in your tracks. Isn’t this pine tree amazing?! I looked it up and it seems to be 400 years old. It has an impressive presence…! We headed through the pine trees toward Ukimido. The view suddenly opened up, offering a magnificent view. Inside the hall, you can change into slippers and walk around the entire hall. From here, you can see the expansive expanse of Lake Biwa, almost bursting into view. I’ve been here once, and it’s always so beautiful I’m always moved. The view is so spectacular it’s hard to fit it all in a camera!!! The breeze is pleasant, and the view is amazing! There are many aquatic plants on the water’s surface, but it’s surprisingly clear. It ‘s a hidden gem with few people around. Even a 10-minute stay is worth it for the spectacular views. Next, we headed south from Ukimido for about 20 minutes. We arrived at Hieizan-Sakamoto Station on the JR Kosei Line. The famous Hieizan Enryaku-ji Temple and Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine are also nearby. This is the heart of Mount Hiei, a sacred Buddhist site. Today, we visited the Kyu-Chikurin-in Temple, a 20-minute walk from Hieizan-Sakamoto Station. This is the mansion where monks from Enryaku-ji Temple spent the rest of their lives. Inside, the coolness is a far cry from the heat outside. Japanese houses are truly amazing, able to stay so cool without air conditioning. But surely a monk who could spend the rest of his life in a mansion like this is no ordinary person? I visited the large hall on the second floor. The view is even more beautiful! The chirping of cicadas is the perfect background music. The garden overlooks the window, a luxurious view. This is truly the Japanese summer. Apparently, there are over 50 temples and residences in Sakamoto that served as retirement homes for monks. I don’t know which ones, but there are an incredible number of them. It’s also famous for taking stunning photos with the reflections on the desks. I tried placing my smartphone on the desk, but the sun was so strong today that it was completely white. 😅 It’s more than beautiful enough to see with the naked eye. The exterior is surprisingly new. But it was a charming and lovely place. Leaving the former Chikurin-in Temple, it was a two-minute drive. I went to “Hiei Sankurou,” a place that looked like it had delicious shaved ice. Unfortunately, it was closed… Recently, when I travel on weekdays, I’ve been hitting up restaurants that are closed… So, I looked it up on my smartphone and headed to a nearby place called “Ueda.” Since it was a sudden stop, I didn’t know much about the place, and the menu was simple, so I assumed it was just a regular tea shop. Hoping to get something cold, I ordered the Uji Milk shaved ice. After a five-minute wait, the shaved ice that arrived looked even more delicious than the picture on the menu! The matcha was rich and incredibly delicious!! There was plenty of milk everywhere, and the ice was fluffy too…! A moment later, the man’s brown sugar milk arrived. What the heck?! The brown sugar milk was exquisite and incredibly delicious!!! It was refreshing and thirsty, just perfect…! After doing some research, I discovered that this place is famous for its brown sugar warabi mochi. No wonder their brown sugar milk is so delicious! If they weren’t closing in 10 minutes, I would have liked to have tried it… It was the best shaved ice of the year! Thank you for the meal♪ It was a little hot, but I was able to enjoy Lake Biwa in the summer to the fullest. It wasn’t too crowded like Kyoto or Osaka, and Shiga is a hidden gem♪ I really liked Shiga, and although it was on a different day from this video, for the second installment of my summer memories, I stayed at a wonderful inn in Shiga. I’ll be uploading another video soon, so I hope you’ll check it out. Thank you for watching until the end☆ A wonderful inn overlooking Lake Biwa. The water was so clear…! It was an amazing sunrise on a beach with almost no people around It was an emotional morning
