【四国遍路のすすめ】Take Your First Steps on the Shikoku Pilgrimage
遍路道のはじまりは、第一番札所・霊山寺前の「門前一番街」から。
参拝の心得をレクチャーしてもらいましょう。
白衣、輪袈裟、笠、そして金剛杖。
遍路に欠かせない4つの装備を手に入れて──
まずは名物「あわくった」と阿波晩茶で、心と体を整えます。
第一番札所・霊山寺をあとに、いよいよ巡礼の一歩を。
道を進むたび、金剛杖が地を打ち、
静かに響く鈴の音が、祈りの旅へと誘います。
やがて見えてくるのは、第二番札所・極楽寺。
門をくぐり、御朱印を賜ることで、巡礼の実感が深まります。
お賽銭を納め、鐘を鳴らし、手を合わせる。
旅の無事と心の平穏を願って──
再び、次の札所へ向かいます。
歩くたびに、心が澄んでいく。
これが、四国遍路のはじまりです。

The Shikoku Pilgrimage begins at **Monzen Ichibangai**,
just outside Temple No.1 — *Ryozenji*.
Here, you’ll learn the basics of temple etiquette,
and prepare for the journey with four essential items:
a white robe, a pilgrim’s stole, a traditional hat, and the Kongō-zue — your sacred walking stick.
Before setting off, warm your body and soul
with local treats: **Awakutta** and a cup of Awa bancha tea.
Leaving *Ryozenji*, your first steps on the pilgrimage begin.
Each tap of your walking stick, each ring of its bell,
draws you deeper into this spiritual path.
Soon, **Temple No.2 — Gokurakuji** comes into view.
Passing through the gate, receiving a goshuin stamp —
the sense of pilgrimage begins to take shape.
You offer a coin, ring the bell, and join your hands in prayer.
For a safe journey, and for peace within.
And then — you walk on, toward the next temple.
With every step, the heart grows clearer.
This is the beginning of the Shikoku Pilgrimage.
