Wasanotani Campground in Nara, sitting at an elevation of 1,150 meters. I chose a scenic site — there are only two spots here, No.14 and No.15. The best one is No.15, with shade from the trees and more space.
Unfortunately, I arrived a bit late and had to settle for No.14. Daytime temperatures still reach 35°C. I love arranging my things neatly, just like at home. After setting up, I headed to the observation deck to enjoy the distant views. This is also the starting point for the famous Mt. Daibugenzan hiking route,
making it a great place for trekking. Sitting in the shade, gazing into the distance —
sometimes thinking, sometimes letting my mind go blank, or reading a book. Time simply slips away unnoticed. Korean cold noodles. In the heat of summer, eating a chilled bowl of noodles while camping outdoors feels like pure bliss. At this moment, this bowl is the finest delicacy in the world. Mountain nights are refreshingly cool, around 20°C. A crisp breeze blows like autumn itself. The crackle of the campfire is deeply soothing,and the night here is utterly quiet, without a single unwanted sound.
That’s why I left the campfire scene a little longer,hoping you’ll enjoy it too. Breakfast was coffee brewed from Kopi Luwak beans I bought in Vietnam.They’re perfect for a moka pot, but today I tried hand-pouring. With butter-toasted bread,
it’s a small morning ritual that fills the whole day with energy. The washing area and toilets here are spotless. Before 9 a.m., the air is cool and refreshing. Camping isn’t just the beauty you see in edited videos. It’s also the little moments — the sorting, packing, and tidying during setup and teardown.
For me, organizing these small things is its own joy. Recently, I’ve been on a “digital detox.”
I felt like my phone and computer were controlling me. Aside from work, I now spend two hours a day reading,one hour running — it’s been a month already. No social media, no news, just putting the phone down brings peace. Packing up took about 35 minutes — including filming, of course (LOL).
