⁴ᴷ Hokkaido: Furano Station (北海道: 富良野駅) – Japan Walking Tour (July, 2025)

Furano Station Night Walk | Hokkaido in 4K

To begin my journey around almost the entire island of Hokkaido, I took an 18-hour ferry ride and landed in Tomakomai. From there, my trip around Hokkaido officially began.

Now with only two days left in this journey, this day marked the final day of filming. The following day would be dedicated to traveling back to Tokyo.

On this final filming day, I traveled from Obihiro to Furano. Furano is best known for its beautiful lavender fields, but in the end, I never actually came across any during this trip.

As I entered the town, it was clear that Furano attracts many tourists—not only from within Hokkaido, but from all over Japan, judging by the variety of license plates. However, once evening fell and I went out to film, the number of tourists noticeably dropped, and the town became much quieter.

For many people of a certain generation, Furano brings to mind the classic Japanese drama From the North Country (Kita no Kuni Kara). One of the recurring locations in the show, the Heso Entertainment District, still retains some of its original charm. Seeing it unchanged gave me a sense of nostalgia and comfort.
