[広島 旅行]尾道で日本の夏と風景を楽しむ、最高の景色はここにあった
Hello everyone. This time, I went to Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture. The ocean and the beautiful mountain views really capture the Japanese summer. Also, there are cats, literature, and interesting places, so I thought I’d share them with you. I hope you’ll enjoy this article until the end. This time, I went to the Honshu side of Onomichi, where the view is synonymous with Onomichi. The mountain is called Senkoji, and you can take a ropeway to the summit. However, I decided to hike a little way up early in the morning. I climbed it for exercise. The route I walked appears to take about an hour on Google Maps. However, I left the hotel a little after 6:00 AM and returned around 10:00 AM. After getting a little lost, I headed up the mountain and started hiking from Komyo-ji Temple. After leaving the temple, we continued walking along this narrow, backstreet-like path. When you first start climbing the mountain, you can’t see the ocean even if you look toward it. But these narrow, backstreet-like paths are a lot of fun. They’re called back alleys. I don’t often walk through these narrow places, so it was a very refreshing experience. Also, since it was midsummer, the cicadas were really loud. About 10 minutes into the climb, I was able to see the aqueduct. Some of the stepped sections were a little steep, making the climb quite challenging. I found a park on the way up. Wow, that cat looks pretty bold! And around here, you can see quite far. And it must be still hot, because the cat was under a bench. From here, we headed up Senkoji-dori Street. On the way there. I heard the loud chirp of a cicada, so I rewatched the video later. The cicadas were perfectly captured on camera. Apparently, this is the final resting place of a man named Kenkichi Nakamura. Being able to see this view every day in front of his house is surely one of the reasons he chose it as his final resting place. It’s so beautiful. It took me about 30-40 minutes to walk here from the hotel. I was drenched in sweat at this point. Even though it was only 7 AM, this temperature was strange. This house had a cafe. It wasn’t open when I climbed. However, it was open on my way down, so I stopped in. I arrived at Senkoji Temple. It was a temple. But, to put it in a positive light, it had a strong business sense. There were plenty of places to put offerings. And this box makes a sound when you put offerings in it. After praying at the main hall, we went to Mt. Ishizuchi, which was restored for the first time in 62 years. I was surprised to see the beautiful scenery and the peaceful training, thinking it would be a peaceful experience. Apparently, you’re only using these chains to climb the rocks. I’m 174 cm tall and my weight is a secret. But climbing was extremely tough. And while I was climbing, I didn’t have time to take a selfie, so this is the shaky picture. My hands were shaking, and it was really tough. It was an incredibly tough training. But sometimes I’m glad I climbed. This view is so beautiful. All that’s left is to walk back down. It gave me a great sense of accomplishment. I’ve trained hard. Anyway, I’m heading up the mountain. Suddenly, I realized something here. Oh, my goodness! There are dumbbells there. Who’s working out in such a beautiful place? Right? Well, I worked out in a beautiful setting. I can understand why people would want to. On the way up, there’s a place called Tsuzumiiwa, the second largest rock at Senkoji Temple. It’s also said to have a banging sound and traces of stonework from when Osaka Castle was built. I actually tried hitting it, but I couldn’t really tell what the dent was. But then I came around here, and I heard a tapping sound. It was like, “This is the area.” I felt like I found the spot. Also, I wondered if that thing I see around here is the remains of a logging site. A bench with a beautiful view. A place like this makes me want to have tea. There was a menu hanging on the railing at the top of the hill, displaying the food menu. However, since it was morning, the shops were closed. Apparently, this road is also known as the Literary Path. I was climbing without any idea what was going on. Apparently, this is one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots. The cherry blossoms are beautiful, and the ocean is beautiful too. No wonder it’s in the top 100! We’ve reached the top of Senkoji Temple. This is the PEAK observation deck. Unlike the retro feel of the previous observation decks, this one is a modern one made of reinforced concrete. The view from the top is stunning. I woke up early in the morning and climbed the mountain to see this view. The island across from this strait is Mukojima. This is the starting island of the Shimanami Kaido. Next are Innoshima and Ikuchijima. And now we enter Ehime Prefecture. And the Shimanami Kaido is the route that takes you all the way to Imabari. I decided to go further east, as I thought I’d get a better view than I had up the stairs. It’s so beautiful. No matter how many times I see it, it’s still so beautiful, I want to see it again and again. It’s also so beautiful on a clear day. But when I imagine there must be delicious fish swimming around, it seems like a fascinating place. Also, I thought it was very refreshing to be able to look down on the ocean from atop a mountain that looks like a river. The bridge you see in the distance is the Shimanami Kaido bridge. Maybe it’s because it’s summer. But it was incredibly hard to get up there. I know it’s a bit strange to say this after climbing it myself, but I recommend the ropeway all year round. After enjoying the beautiful scenery, I’ll take a different route down the mountain on my way back. I’ll take this Literary Path. I feel like I walked a literary path when I was hiking. But I wasn’t sure if there were two paths, or if this was the correct one. When I come into contact with literature in places like this, I feel like I’m a poet and want to read poetry. A haiku here. Onomichi, oh Onomichi, Onomichi. What do you think? This haiku. I feel like I could have written or sung a beautiful haiku, just like Matsuo Basho. Rather than enjoying the Seto Inland Sea, the ocean, or the waterways, this area is best enjoyed for its literature. The same goes for this Literary Path. I did see some places where writing had been carved into the rocks. However, I didn’t read much of the content. But I imagine there must be some wonderful things written there. Going down this Literary Path, you’ll come across Senkoji Temple again. Apparently, the zodiac deity is enshrined here. It says “guardian Buddha.” I wonder what that means? If you visit Senkoji Temple, be sure to check out this bell. This bell is located in a beautiful location that has been selected as one of Japan’s 100 Best Soundscapes. Unfortunately, there’s a sign saying not to ring the bell. But it’s still very beautiful to look at. Not only the cherry blossoms, but also the soundscapes have been selected as one of the 100 best places in Japan. Amazing! It’s about 8:30 around here. We left the hotel around 6:00. We climbed the mountain and arrived at the peak. It was about 7:30, so it took a little over an hour. We climbed up. We came down from there and slowly walked. After a few breaks, It was about 8:30. And since it was that time, the cafe was open. I stopped in. This appears to be a guesthouse, and it seems to be a coffee shop attached to the guesthouse. Here, I had a hot sandwich, which is quite unusual for me. And coffee. It was delicious, soothing my tired body. Instead of continuing straight down, I turned left and then to the left. As I walked, I came across the three-story pagoda. There was a path in front of the pagoda. This narrow path was themed around cats. It’s not that there are a ton of cats, but rather, it feels more like, how should I put it, cat-themed artwork. There are cats painted on stones and walls like this. There’s also a cat museum and a cat-themed cafe. Rather than being swarmed with real cats and feeling like a cat-loving street, it feels more like a collection of art pieces, giving it a really cat-like feel. Of course, there were real cats there, too. But there was only one. . . when I saw it. This area seems like it would have a lot to offer, with restaurants, art museums, and other fun things to do. However, it’s closed in the morning, so I couldn’t see it. . . I had fun walking these narrow paths. And most importantly, the shade on the road was extremely helpful. Also, I noticed that everyone I passed said hello. Right? There’s a greeting campaign going on in Hiroshima. Right? Thinking about all this, I suddenly realized I was descending the mountain. The mountain you see in front of you now is Senkoji Mountain. On the way from the hotel to Mt. Senkoji, I came across a beautiful spot that was unusual. This is the waterway I headed to first thing in the morning from the hotel. But I never expected to see such a beautiful view in the morning. The pigeons are so majestic. Also, the moored ships are rare in landlocked Gunma Prefecture, so it was a refreshing and beautiful sight. Seeing places like this makes taking photos so much fun. I’m making a video, but I’m also taking tons of stills and photos. Since Onomichi is a Japan Heritage Town, it seems that buildings like this are also considered heritage sites. Perhaps it’s a historic building that deserves to be preserved. The shopping street has a traditional arcade feel, and it’s the festival season. It was decorated with all sorts of ornaments. Bridges like this one over the tracks are charming in a different way than usual. It’s a wonderful place with beautiful views from both the mountain and the plains. This time, I climbed a mountain on the Honshu side of Onomichi to look out over the waterways and other areas. I was able to see some beautiful scenery and really get a feel for summer in Japan. That’s all for today’s video. Thank you for watching until the end. If you’re interested in visiting Onomichi, please leave a comment, like, and subscribe.
