The 2025 Lake Biwa Fireworks Festival, a summer tradition, took place on August 8, 2025, off the coast of Otsu Port on Lake Biwa in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Despite the pouring rain, approximately 10,000 colorful fireworks captivated the 340,000 spectators who had gathered. Before the fireworks began, a sudden downpour hit the area, and the rain continued intermittently. Some people were seen sheltering from the rain with umbrellas or covering themselves with plastic sheets, while others gave up and continued to watch the fireworks completely soaked.
