Lockheart Castle : A castle in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, where you can feel like a castle owner

Today’s tour will take you to Lockheart Castle, a tourist spot in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, where you can feel like a castle lord. From Tokyo Station, you can reach the castle by Shinkansen and taxi, or by bus tour. I’ll be showing you around like a butler, so enjoy the video as if you were the castle lord. Welcome back, master. It’s been a while since you last visited Lockhart Castle, which was relocated from Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, to the mountains of Japan, so please take your time to look around the gardens and rooms. The garden is filled with pure white hydrangeas in full bloom. There is a pleasant breeze today, making the umbrellas on display flutter beautifully. Oh,There is a small birdhouse. The public shaming platform is displayed as an object along with lavender. Take this street and head towards the castle. The stone statue displays, decorative wall plates and souvenir shops along this street are very popular with tourists. Weddings can also be held in the on-site church, allowing couples and their guests to enjoy the recreated medieval townscape. Armor is on display where the guards used to be. Dogs are allowed in the park, and you can rent dog costumes, men’s and women’s dresses, and tuxedos. You can have your photo taken by a professional, or you can just take your photo freely. Originally located in Scotland, this castle was purchased by actor Masahiko Tsugawa in 1980. Afterwards, Yoshiaki Hirai, founder of the stonework company Sanpo, moved it to Gunma Prefecture and became its owner, with the desire to “allow people in Japan to experience the authentic culture of stone.” It is the only ancient European castle in Japan. The history museum on the first floor displays not only historical artifacts from Castle Lockheart, but also Berlin iron made in Germany in the early 19th century, antique snuff, and decorative items. Snuff was widely popular in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries, and the custom still remains in some parts of Britain today. It is a museum-like space where you can see the collection of foreign antiques that the castle owner acquired at auction. This charter is proof that the 19th pitcher of the Lockhart family was awarded the title of baron and a new coat of arms by Archduchess Maria Theresa of Austria. This shelf displays memorabilia related to Napoleon and his wife Josephine. These are exhibits inspired by Cinderella Castle. We headed to the gallery shop on the second floor. It would be so beautiful to take a photo on the stairs in a dress. There are many stores in Japan that sell European decorative items and interior goods, but the products here are very beautiful and artistic. The castle’s coat of arms is a heart surrounded by keys, a reference to the legend that the Lockhart family brought the heart of King Robert of Scotland home in a locked chest. And this castle is filled with the thoughts of the people who were involved in the construction of the castle, which involved a total of 15,000 construction staff members who were involved in its relocation to Japan. “This is the Jewelry Museum, home to some incredibly rare treasures. These plaster cameos, set in their original wooden boxes from the 19th century, were used as valuable reference materials and samples by cameo artisans at the time, and were popular souvenirs for cameo-loving European aristocrats. These are cameos made of stone and shell. In the 17th century, the technology for making glass perfume bottles developed, and they became fashionable accessories for royalty and aristocrats. In fact, this castle not only houses antiques, but also personal belongings of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, who are both immensely popular in Japan. These are Marilyn Monroe’s belongings. Traces of her perfume and lipstick can be seen on the costumes. When I see successful people, I feel a surge of courage and strength. It houses the belongings of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the former First Lady of the United States. “This is the personal belonging that was acquired at the Audrey Hepburn estate auction held in London in 2017. On display is a brooch that was acquired at auction and is believed to have been worn by her from the early days of her career in the film industry. It’s so luxurious and splendid that it’s surprising, but it’s times like these that I enjoy the time and richness of being in this space. This is a carnelian cameo featuring Napoleon from around 1925. Alongside the stone and shell cameos, there is a crown. It is the first time I have seen a crown up close. You can sit in the chairs in the room and enjoy looking at the room, so anyone can feel like the lord of the castle or Sherlock Holmes. Master, how comfortable is the chair? The Santa Claus Museum of the World displays 1,000 Santa Clauses collected by actor Tsuda from all over the world. Is your country’s Santa Claus here? Wow! So cute! There are matryoshka Christmas ornaments. There are very few Christmas specialty stores in Japan, so when I saw one in the US, I was amazed by how beautiful it was. It’s very emotional to be in a space that was created with the intention of making someone happy. We’re going to go outside the castle now and see something amazing, so make sure you watch until the end. There is a church and a private wedding reception hall. Business hours and holidays may change depending on the facilities and weather, so please check the website in advance. These are the ones I wanted to show you! The shuttle car used to transport wedding couples is none other than the Rolls-Royce once used by the late Princess Diana. Master, I’ll send you off in a Rolls Royce. I wish you many good things. See you again soon.
