Today we will head to Komoro Castle in Nagano Prefecture. Get off at Komoro Station on the Shinano Railway. It is about a 3 minute walk from the station to Komoro Castle. In 1554, Takeda Shingen, who conquered the Saku region, expanded Komoro Castle. In 1591, Hidehisa Sengoku remodeled the castle and it became the current Komoro Castle. The main gate of Komoro Castle was built in 1612. The inside is open to the public, so you can take a look. Otemon was designated as an important cultural property in 1993. Let’s look at the main gate from the front. The cherry blossom festival is held during this time. Currently, the Komoro Castle ruins are maintained as a park called Kaikoen. The third gate came into view. Komoro Castle is called Ana Castle because its castle area is located lower than the castle town. San-no-mon is also designated as an important cultural property. Komoro Castle was used as a base for Tokugawa Hidetada’s attack on Ueda Castle in 1600. Next to the San-no-mon Gate, there is a stone stone that is said to be where Tokugawa Hidetada sat. The entrance fee was 500 yen for a common ticket. As you enter, you will see a high stone wall with a second circle on the right. It is in the shape of a square. I’m going to go up to the second circle. Mt. Asama in the distance is covered in snow and looks beautiful. I returned to the road heading towards Honmaru. On the left is the stone wall of Minamimaru. A stone called Uguisuishi is placed at the entrance to Minamimaru. I will go up to Minamimaru. On the south side is a deep dry moat called Kidani. The north circle on the other side was used as an archery range. We arrived in front of the main enclosure. In front of the main enclosure is a dry moat with a bridge over it. The dry moat is quite deep. Beyond the bridge, you can also see the stone wall at Kuromonzeki. We will proceed to the back of the main enclosure. This is a large zelkova tree that is about 500 years old. This is the memorial museum of Toson Shimazaki, who has a connection to Komoro. There is a magnificent castle tower in the main enclosure. Proceed next to the castle tower. It is said that Komoro Castle had a three-layer castle tower made of gold leaf tiles. This is an armory and has been rebuilt with an Edo period appearance. On the north side is a deep dry moat called Jigokudani. This is the Mizutte Observation Deck. There is a cliff on the west side, and the Chikuma River flows beyond it. Water hand unknown monument. Return to the castle tower. It seems that horse riding training was carried out at the horse farm in this area. The stone wall in the field is stunning. I’m going to go to Fujimidai. There used to be a viewing station here. Komoro Castle is adjacent to the zoo. The south side is also divided by a deep dry moat. I returned to my original path. I will go inside the main enclosure. I’m going to go up to the stone wall. The cherry blossoms in Baba are almost in full bloom. It looks like you can go all the way to the castle tower. The cherry blossoms on the castle tower were in full bloom. I will go down the castle tower and head towards Kaiko Shrine. There is no shortage of people visiting the shrine. This is a mirror stone that is said to have been favored by Yamamoto Kansuke. It is a monument of Kaikoen. The title is said to be written by Kaishu Katsu. Stone torii of Kaiko Shrine. I returned to Kuromonzeki. At the entrance to the main enclosure, there is the remains of the Okagodai. Thank you for watching.
