ふらっと出かけた場所を紹介しようと思います。
2025年7月に岡山県鏡野町にある「妖精の森ガラス美術館」に行きました。

・妖精の森ガラス美術館

世界的にも珍しい「ウランガラス」をテーマにした美術館です。
ウランは19世紀から20世紀にかけて、欧米や日本でガラスの着色剤として使われていました。
紫外線が当たるとガラスがきれいな緑色の蛍光を放つことから、地元の人形峠のウランを用いたガラスに「妖精の森ガラス」という名前をつけました。
展示室で世界のウランガラスや現代のガラス作品の鑑賞、併設のガラス工房ではガラス体験、アートショップでガラス作品の購入といった、様々な楽しみ方ができます。

開館時間：9:30-17:00（入館は16:30まで）
休館日：火曜日、年末年始※火曜日が祝日の場合は開館
入館料：大人・大学生500円、高校生400円、小・中学生300えん
　　　　小学生未満無料

I’d like to introduce some places I happened to visit.
In July 2025, I visited the Fairy Forest Glass Museum in Kagamino Town, Okayama Prefecture.

Fairy Forest Glass Museum

This museum is themed around uranium glass, a rare material in the world.
Uranium was used as a glass colorant in Europe, the United States, and Japan from the 19th to 20th centuries.
Glass made with uranium from the local Ningyo Pass is named “Fairy Forest Glass” because it emits a beautiful green fluorescence when exposed to ultraviolet light.
There are many ways to enjoy the museum, including viewing uranium glass from around the world and contemporary glass works in the exhibition room, experiencing glass making in the attached glass workshop, and purchasing glass works in the art shop.

Opening Hours: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM (last entry at 4:30 PM)
Closed: Tuesdays, New Year’s holiday period (open on Tuesdays that fall on national holidays)
Admission Fee: ¥500 for adults and university students, ¥400 for high school students, ¥300 for elementary and junior high school students
Free for children under elementary school age
