The Miyagikyo Distillery is also one of their whisky factories. While there’s still time, let’s join their whiskey factory tour first. Although filming is not allowed during the tour, we can learn about the whiskey-making process. The history of Nikka whiskey is also quite interesting. Finally, the most anticipated tasting time has arrived~ He offered three types: one is Miyagikyo, one is Super Nikka, and the last one has a more syrupy feel, Apple Wine. After leaving the Miyagikyo Distillery, I took the shuttle bus to the all-inclusive hot spring hotel where I would be staying on the first day. Yuzukushi SALON Ichinobo All facilities, meals, drinks, lounge services, etc. within the hotel are included in the accommodation fee. No additional charges are required. There’s no need to choose a stay package like in traditional hot spring inns. The place we stayed this time is all-inclusive. And we can only check into the room at three o’clock, which isn’t great right now. But we can go to his salon (lounge) at the back to have some drinks first. After completing the check-in, since it was still quite early, we had some snacks and drinks in the lounge. Although the selection of food and snacks was not extensive, everything was quite delicious. His lounge space is really beautiful, and the food is not as extravagant as I imagined. But as a simple afternoon tea, it’s not bad for kids. (There’s Golden God of War! I want to see!) The drinks include freshly brewed coffee, tea, various red and white wines, beer, Nikka whiskey, Highball, and more. It’s no problem to wait the whole afternoon～ It’s three o’clock, the room should be about ready～ let’s go take a look～ The room we stayed in this time is the most basic type, so the decor is relatively ordinary and the space is a bit smaller. However, the services provided by the hotel are truly abundant. We spend very little time in the room, so it’s not something to worry about. The room feels like this (The room is very basic, nothing too impressive) Let’s take a look at the view from the room~ Mountain view~ beautiful mountains and waters~ A small tea room and a tatami room; you can tell that it’s not brand new. But I think it’s quite cute, it has its own charm. There are clothes prepared for wearing inside the venue in the room. There aren’t too many things in the wardrobe. He gave us a basket. Many hot spring inns provide socks and small towels. As for the large towels, they have placed them in the bathroom area. This room is the most basic type. I just realized that there is actually no shower room, so you have to go to the public bath to wash. Here, there is only one sink. There are basic toothbrushes too～ Bathroom～ So if you want to have a shower in the room, you might need to book a slightly better room type. Since it’s a hot spring hotel, what’s important is whether the hot spring facilities capture our hearts. I can only say that Yuzukushi SALON Ichinobo has completely captured our hearts. It has three large baths: separate indoor baths for men and women, and a gender-alternating outdoor hot spring. The indoor hot spring area is very spacious, and the bath pool is large, with a faint scent of wood. It is also the only bathhouse with a shower area. We have just finished bathing~ The open-air bath for girls here has the most amazing view. You can see the entire valley view directly. I think it’s awesome! The outdoor hot springs I’ve seen so far have beautiful scenery, and they might really be among the best. Although they all look like the same pool, they are divided into several small areas. So the temperature is actually a little bit different. If you want to soak in water that’s not too hot or if you want it a bit hotter, you can choose the pool you like. And there is a slight difference in elevation. So it won’t block each other’s view just because there are many people soaking. This is what I think is a pretty good aspect of his design. But there is also a small drawback, which is that he… To avoid damaging the local natural environment There is no bathing area on this side of the outdoor hot spring; you must return to the indoor large bath to find a bathing area. The most recommended are his French toast and yam rice. I had such a hearty meal early in the morning. I’m really worried that after returning to Sendai, I won’t have an appetite to eat beef tongue. This hotel can be said to be the top onsen ryokan we will stay at in 2025. It has unbeatable scenic outdoor hot springs, a variety of free drinks and snacks. Yeah~ It’s the Ichinobou group~ So does that mean today’s event is in a different hot spring area? Zao Onsen~ Zao Onsen… is that already very close to the mountain shape? I should say it’s on the east side of Zao, which is this side of Miyagi. On the second night, we arrived at Yamagata Onsen. You can take a direct express bus from Sendai Station. It will take about an hour to arrive. Actually, if the slope isn’t too steep, walking for 30 minutes should be fine, right? Because the hotel does not provide shuttle service and there are very few taxis in the area. Basically, you can’t get a taxi without a reservation. I have no choice but to slowly walk the 30-minute journey to the hotel (The scenery along the way is quite beautiful~) (I see the sign~) (Super nature~) Compared to the hotel from the previous night Yutomori Club is a resort-type hotel that caters more to a younger crowd, and the lobby decor is quite beautiful. Especially recommend the seats facing the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the forest courtyard. The overall feeling is just a bit cuter than yesterday. There is a fairy tale vibe of the forest. As for food, it’s quite similar to yesterday. Starting at 3 o’clock, there will be a lot of ice cream~ And there will also be some drinks in the lounge~ But he is even more impressive than yesterday. Because his lounge is open until midnight. And for his meals, appetizers start at 4:30 PM before dinner begins. And then there are some drinks to enjoy. Dinner starts at 5 o’clock. His dinner is entirely ordered from the menu. Then there are two outside the open-air hot spring facility and two inside. The ones outside are located at… This is the part inside the facility, and to get to the outside, you need to walk to the riverbank. Not bad at all~ It’s clean and tidy~ The hotel has a wide variety of room types, and each one looks quite nice. However, this time we had to switch to a room with a bathroom because my wife couldn’t use the hot springs. As a result, the room itself is relatively simpler. In addition to the hot springs, they also offer a lounge and Italian ice cream. Although the variety of snacks is not as rich as the hotel the previous night, it’s still quite good! The hotel has two main hot spring areas. One is inside the building, and the other is ‘Kawa no Yu’ by the stream. The usage of the bathhouse is also very simple. As long as you see the sign hanging outside, it means you can go in and use it. Both places have private hot spring rooms. Especially the private hot spring rooms at Kawa no Yu have a great view, highly recommended. While waiting, you can also play some board games and have some coffee or drinks to pass the time. The meals at the Soup and Forest Club are even better than those at the hotel the previous night. Dinner is served starting at 4:30 PM. And different dishes will be offered at each time slot. It mainly features French cuisine, which is very exquisite and super delicious! What’s even more impressive is his selection of drinks; there are at least 15 types of red wine, white wine, and sake alone. Not to mention he also has various beers, spirits, soft drinks, and cocktails. The meal will start with a fresh lettuce salad and super crispy asparagus. Next are two different cold platters featuring seafood and cheese. It’s five o’clock now, and we will start serving some cold dishes. Then he has two options, one is a seafood cold dish. Although we focused our firepower on the more expensive items, the taste and presentation are truly impeccable. They are at a level that could easily be sold in a restaurant. There are really a lot of meal options. You can enjoy a wide variety of dishes. The breakfast is also quite extravagant. Just like the night before, there are many freshly made dishes. What impressed me the most was their French toast, which is very soft and enjoyable, and the sauce is also very fragrant. Additionally, you can also enjoy pasta and risotto. This should be the most sumptuous breakfast I’ve had at a hotel recently. Both of these all-inclusive hot spring inns are located in Miyagi Prefecture. In this trip, we visited Sendai City in Miyagi Prefecture, located in Japan’s beautiful Tohoku region.
