Hoa Lu City in Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam, is home to Vietnam’s only Trang An Scenic Area, a World Heritage Site. I filmed three episodes there , covering the region’s rural culture, folk customs , history , and natural beauty. One evening, I left the countryside and rode my motorcycle toward the urban area of Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh , hoping to see what the city was like . Unexpectedly, a small incident brought Ashu’s Vietnam trip to an abrupt end , forcing him to return to China . What happened ? In episode 30 of “Ashu’s Adventures in Vietnam,” follow my camera and discover the differences between ancient cities in Vietnam and China . My courage is growing. Just now, I was navigating a dark, rural lane lined with silent houses. Just now, I was nervous about crossing a road, surrounded by the whirlwind of traffic. Now, I ‘m on an unpaved road, perhaps
the transition zone between the village and the city. This was my first solo trip abroad , and my first time riding on the narrow roads of rural Vietnam . I wonder what others would feel when traveling alone in the countryside of Southeast Asia . Personally, I was quite nervous. A lot of emotions seem to be amplified when you’re in a foreign country. I saw a comment under one of my videos. The commenter suggested that bloggers who film videos everywhere are brave. Is it possible that this is the result of overcoming many difficulties? I don’t want to pretend to be brave and daring. That’s not my style. I just want to record my own feelings. I walked through a dusty, unpaved road and came to this asphalt road . It suddenly widened a lot. I should be entering the city. This might be the urban area. We’ve reached the city. I rode a motorcycle around the city and realized this should be the city center. Look at this overwater bridge. Some foreigners rent motorcycles in pairs and travel together, taking pictures and chatting. It’s nice and fun. That’s very pretty. I’ve seen Hoi An Ancient Town in Vietnam on videos, and it seems similar. I’m walking across the river. There ‘s a restaurant up ahead . I ‘ll have a meal first . I ‘m hungry. The map shows this place as Old Town Tortilla Fried Food. Walk around the lake for about two kilometers. This restaurant seems quite crowded , so I’ll eat there. The menu clearly states that most of the prices are 110,000 Vietnamese dong per portion. Tiger Tiger beer is about NT$7.50, and I got a glass of ice for 25,000 Vietnamese Dong. The dining environment is amazing. It’s my first time drinking Tiger beer in Vietnam. Cheers, this is delicious , better than Saigon beer. Saigon beer is too bitter, this one is a bit like Budweiser. I ordered pork rib with fish sauce and garlic for 110,000 Vietnamese Dong , about NT$33. It’s my first meal of the day and I’m really hungry. Back in China, it’s called sweet and sour pork ribs. The salty and sweet taste is okay. This one is fried more crispy, but a little too sweet. It’s very versatile. You often see fried onions in Vietnamese restaurants to enhance the flavor. I saw that the bowl of rice costs 30,000 Vietnamese Dong, which is NT$9. It’s expensive.
I’ve never eaten such expensive rice before , just white rice. The shallots are wrapped around the ribs. Okay, after eating, the total bill was 140,000 Vietnamese Dong, about NT$42. The sweet and sour pork ribs tasted okay. After eating, I continued to walk around. Oh, the place is full of people. Sure enough, the beautiful scenery is more attractive, this building It’s very conspicuous. I think it’s an ancient town. I think this place is quite quiet. Qilin Lake in Hoa Lu City. Let’s sit here for a while. Qilin Lake in Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh . In 968 AD, Dinh Bo Linh of Vietnam unified Vietnam and established Vietnam’s first unified regime, the Dinh Dynasty (968-980). Its capital is today’s Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh Province . So in today’s Hoa Lu City, in addition to the World Heritage Site of Hoa Lu Ancient Capital, there are many large and small historical sites. However, due to an unexpected small accident, my trip to Vietnam came to an abrupt end. So I can’t help but feel a little regretful when leaving Ninh Binh, especially some historical sites that I was interested in but didn’t have time to explore. I believe that one day in the future I will return to the three-story pagoda in Ninh Binh. Wow, such a beautiful pagoda is so deserted! This kind of place is truly amazing! If you were in China, it would be packed with people. What exquisite reliefs ! Wow, this is so beautiful ! Wow, so exquisite ! I ‘m a little shocked. It’s 360 degrees. Every corner has carefully carved reliefs of auspicious clouds, Guanyin Bodhisattva, and Buddha. Look at the gilded Buddha statues on top. Each one is lifelike and vivid , as if there are stories inside, probably some Buddhist stories. There is a floating bridge leading to the second pagoda . It’s about six or seven kilometers away from the village we visited this afternoon . The sculptures in this pagoda are different. The fragrance here is so fragrant. The pattern of the incense is different from the previous pagoda. There are some reliefs of female figures here. Oh, there are mostly female figures. I found a cave here. Wow, there is such an interesting place in the city center. This is a mountain with many banyan trees and some Buddha statues. The temple is embedded in the crack of this mountain. It is embedded very beautifully. It is very comfortable to take a walk in the evening. I was a little nervous when I was preparing to ride a motorcycle from the city in Vietnam back to the village for the first time. In fact, it was almost 9 o’clock now. I hurried back. I passed a lake on the way. It was quite beautiful here . I entered the village and felt at ease when I saw this mountain. My window faced this mountain, which meant I had arrived at the B&B . I couldn’t help but think of it. Haha, I’m finally back safely . There’s no one at the front desk. It’s great to be back on the third floor . There ‘s air conditioning and water to shelter me from the wind and rain. It’s very safe. This is the water flowing from the air conditioner’s outdoor unit. I just realized that this fan is remote controlled. It’s the first time I ‘ve seen it. I took a bus from Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh back to Nanning, Guangxi. On the way back to the B&B just now, I was thinking about exploring the ruins of the capital of the Dinh Dynasty, the first dynasty to unify the north and the south of Vietnam, namely the ancient capital of Hoa Lu . This is the most worthwhile historical site to visit in Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh Province. This is probably one of the reasons why the Chang’an Scenic Area can be listed as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage . However , the next morning , which was my third day in Hoa Lu City, Ninh Binh, I hurriedly took a bus back to Hanoi, Vietnam , and then took a bus from Hanoi back to Nanning, Guangxi, China. Why was this trip to Vietnam interrupted so suddenly? On the second night at the Hoa Lu B&B, I found that my mouth was bleeding non-stop. I have been bleeding from my mouth every few days recently. I think it is because one of my wisdom teeth is pressing against my gums. I feel that this problem cannot be delayed any longer and must be treated as soon as possible. Because I will be traveling to central and southern Vietnam later , it will take at least more than a month to complete my trip to these places. Since Hoa Lu City in Ninh Binh is not too far from Nanning, Guangxi, I can get treatment as soon as possible so that I can set off without any worries. So I went back to Nanning to have a wisdom tooth removed. Sure enough, the bleeding in my mouth stopped after the removal. After the wisdom tooth was removed , I heard that the Detian Transborder Waterfall on the China-Vietnam border has entered its flood season. It is the only transborder waterfall in China and the largest transborder waterfall in Asia. It is located on a section of the Guichun River, half of which belongs to Vietnam and the other half to China . The drop is large and the water volume is abundant. It is also the fourth largest transborder waterfall in the world after Iguazu Falls (Argentina and Brazil), Victoria Falls (Zambia and Zimbabwe), and Niagara Falls (USA and Canada). I wanted to see the Detian Transborder Waterfall since last year , but it was the dry season when I was in Guangxi last year , so I didn’t go. It’s been raining heavily in Guangxi for many days recently. I finally
got to Detian Cross-border Waterfall when the water was abundant. Detian Cross-border Waterfall is located in Daxin County, Chongzuo City. So I took the high-speed rail from Nanning to Chongzuo City. It was already evening when I arrived in Chongzuo City , so
I stayed overnight near Taiping Ancient City in Chongzuo City and planned to go to Detian Cross-border Waterfall early tomorrow morning. Passengers who got off at Chongzuo South Station took 53 minutes from Nanning Railway Station to Chongzuo South Station. I found that I could speak. I thought it would hurt to speak after I had my wisdom teeth removed, but I found that I could still speak. From Chongzuo South Station, I took a bus to the city center, which is about 10 kilometers. Please get off at the front gate in turn. From Chongzuo South Station, it took about 50 minutes to take the bus to this place in the city center. This place is Taiping Ancient City . It’s now a beautiful blue. Time for an aerial photo. This is why I said when I was in Ninh Binh, Vietnam , that many places in Guangxi also have this kind of karst landform. We can see it from the aerial photo. Climb the stairs, open the hotel blind box, and see a small room and bathroom. It costs 70 yuan (about 10 US dollars). The place we stayed is on a peninsula in Chongzuo City, which should be here In the city center, Chongzuo’s most famous attraction is Taiping Ancient City Grilled Oysters. I haven’t had Longjiang Pork Knuckle Rice in a while . It’s 15 yuan and quite a large portion, with half a braised egg, a little cabbage , and a little bit of the marinade. I barely had the energy to speak, and even felt a little dizzy while flying the drone. I’ve barely eaten anything in the past two days because I had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday. Yesterday, I had breakfast, and today, I had a bowl of porridge. So, I’ve eaten very little in the past two days, so I was really hungry just now. I had to eat. Oh, and this pork knuckle is super soft and tender. It tastes so good! I’m full and have enough energy to walk around. Taipingfu Chaoyang Gate is man-made, but it looks lifelike. There are two famous historical sites in Taipingfu . One is Taipingfu , and the other is the well-known Friendship Pass, formerly known as Zhennan Pass. It reminds me of the Hualu Old Town where I visited in Ningping not long ago . There is actually a Zhuang Museum there. This shows that there are quite a lot of Zhuang people in this place . Similar ancient towns in China are springing up like mushrooms after rain. It’s quite deserted and not crowded. This is Local cuisine restaurant, farmer’s local cuisine restaurant, Zhuang cuisine restaurant. Looking at this bridge from a distance, shrouded in white mist, it looks quite ethereal. Let’s walk to the bridge ourselves. Free tourist attractions. Chongzuo is very close to Vietnam. Pingxiang City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Chongzuo City, borders Vietnam’s Lang Son Province (slip of the tongue). There is a wind and rain bridge here . We are now on a piece of land on the Huanjiang Peninsula. It is surrounded by rivers on three sides. It is a very beautiful town. This small round stage in the water. The actors are rehearsing.
