vlog │ 1泊2日で草津温泉へ!湯畑・西の河原公園・裏草津・食べ歩き │ 1日目 【群馬】

This is a vlog of a family trip to Kusatsu Onsen in Gunma Prefecture with my husband and mother! From JR Omiya Station, take the “Kusatsu-Shima” limited express train to Naganoharakusatsuguchi Station. I would like to refresh myself by eating in the hot spring resort area and taking a relaxing soak in the hot spring! Once we leave the urban area, the lush greenery and the view from the train window is very beautiful! Since it was early June, we could also see the water mirror of the rice fields filled with water. I never get tired of seeing these views. Upon arrival at Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station, take the JR bus to the Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal. It takes about 2.5 hours from JR Omiya Station to Kusatsu Onsen. We have arrived at the Kusatsu Onsen bus terminal. We would like to leave our luggages at the inn where we will be staying first, and then go sightseeing around Yubatake. Cool due to the high altitude. Also, as for the paths, there are many hills, so sneakers or other shoes that are easy to walk in are recommended. Back view of husband and mother. This is where we will be staying this time. Kusatsu Onsen Omame no Koyado Hanaingen A cute Japanese modern inn produced by Seigetsudo, a long-established Japanese sweets shop in Kusatsu. Nice reception lobby. After check-in, we came to the cafe for welcome matcha and sweets. Free drink corner for the duration of our stay. We drank flavored water with herbs and fruits. It was refreshing and very tasty as it soaked into my body! The pattern of the hand towel is very cute! Sweets were brought in. Chocolate coated runner beans. Monaka with green tea bean paste and cream cheese sandwiched in between. The color is pretty, like macarons. We make our own matcha, but it’s not easy! I ended up having the landlady do it. It was a well-performed tea serving. Not only did it look great, but it tasted great as well! Next, we move on to our room. We will stay at SORA, a villa. SORA is a special private room that can accommodate only one couple per day. Dining room with kitchen, living room, Western-style room (bedroom), Japanese-style room with private hot spring called Tenshi no Yuami. This is dining room. A wide variety of cooking utensils and tableware. Here’s another great free cafe! If you are staying here for a few days, it would be nice to cook here. Next, we went to the living room called Cinderella’s Room. The rococo sofa with its elegant pale blue fabric is impressive. Rococo style furniture and Japanese modern space make us feel extraordinary. Gorgeous and extravagant. This is a Western-style room (bedroom) next to the living room. Amazing queen size circular bed. I’ve never slept in such a luxurious bed! Then to the bath (Tenshi no Yuami) We can enjoy the hot spring water from the Yubatake source anytime as it is a dedicated bathroom. I’m going to take a long soak at night to relieve my fatigue. The washbasin is also a cute design. Two units are lined up so they can be used without crowding when getting ready. Finally, we go to the Japanese room. We can also sleep on a futon here.
※SORA is a guest room for 2 to 5 persons. The bean-like cushion placed in the center of the room is dusty and relaxing. Toilets are clean and comfortable. I’ve had a quick look around the room and would like to go for a walk. Seigetsudo is located near the inn. It seems that in addition to purchasing Japanese sweets, you can also use the café, so we will drop by during our stay! Looks delicious! We arrived at Yubatake in a few minutes on foot. The first time we came to Yubatake, we were filled with emotion, and we were surprised by the strong smell of sulfur! Souvenir shops and restaurants surround the hot spring fields. Many of the buildings were a blend of Japanese and Western styles. We are hungry and we are going to try to eat. It was a Saturday and the place was bustling with tourists. First, shrimp mayo sticks at the “Good Food Place”. It is massive and large! It was delicious and filling with shrimp in places! Then, “Yoritomo” hot spring eggs. It is one of the gourmet foods I must try when I come to Onsen! The soup stock and the richness of the eggs combine to make a delicious combination. Fried manju buns from “Yamabiko Onsen Manju”. Whoever first fried manju was a genius…! But still, the Yubatake are very powerful. We are looking forward to seeing it as it seems to be lit up at night! Incidentally, the area around this Yubatake field was designed by artist Taro Okamoto. I have a strong impression of sculptures and paintings, but I see that he is involved in a variety of fields. Tearainoyu, which can wash hands more gently than alcohol.Let’s wash our hands before we go out to eat! We have come to Sainokawara Street. The atmosphere of a good old hot spring resort. There was a Rirakkuma souvenir shop. Everyone is dressed as a “yumomi” (stirring the hot water).Cute! We had an excellent wet rice cracker at “Terakoya Honpo”. We have arrived at Sainokawara Park. There is a hot spring gushing out in this park, flowing like a stream. We’ll walk to the far end of the park to take in the view. There seem to be two places in the park where we can take a footbath. The surrounding greenery is vibrant, but the surface where the highly acidic hot water gushes out is grassless and craggy white rocks. I thought it was a mysterious place, which explains why it is called “a place where demons live”. Many Jizo statues are lined up. We look closely, you will also see statues of demons. It would be beautiful to come during the fall foliage season. This clear blue-green-like color is really beautiful. Combined with the surrounding white rock landscape, the atmosphere is otherworldly. Like Yubatake, it seems to be illuminated at night. Looks like a nice place to come for a walk after a hot bath. Statues of Erwin von Bälz and Julius Karl Scriba. These are the great people who introduced the benefits of Kusatsu Onsen hot spring water to the world. Jizo with a calm expression of prolonged life and child-rearing. Since we were there, let’s take a footbath! and soaked in the footbath. The temperature is just right and it feels great! There seemed to be an open-air bath in the back of the park, and there were many bathers there. The place where we had a footbath earlier. Teakettle Monument of the Ogre. It looks like something out of Manga Nippon Mukashi Banashi. There is a folklore about demons, and before visiting, I thought the atmosphere would be a little scary, but it was a nice and fantastic place. We returned to the inn. The lights are lit and beautiful. We took a short break to eat sugar-coated beans that had been left on the table. It was still a little light, but the sun was setting and we went out for a walk again. Plaza in front of Kosenji Temple. The footsteps of geta (Japanese clogs) clacking on the cobblestone pavement is very hot spring town-like! Souvenir shops around Yubatake are also lit up, creating a different atmosphere from the daytime. We were planning to have dinner at “Kusatsu Yubatake Manten” near Yubatake, a popular restaurant serving kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot) and kushiyaki (grilled skewers), but… We got a numbered ticket because the seats were full. We will wait while watching the area for a while, as I can check on my phone how many groups are waiting. Ura-Kusatsu, Eye-washing Jizo Entrance, an alleyway
If we go to the back, we will see a staircase lit up. The area beyond this point seems to be called Ura-Kusatsu. I love the atmosphere of these back alleys. Projected on the ground is the haiku poet Kobayashi Issa. Kobayashi Issa was a haiku poet who composed haiku when he visited Kusatsu. Apparently, illustrations of people associated with Kusatsu are projected in several places. Is this Jizo? At the Hyakunenishi Villa, visitors can try their hand at “Hyakunenishi Zukuri” (making original works of art by painting on limestone). Ah! This is… That’s the Jizo from the illustration we just saw. Jizo spring springs up nearby. It seems that this hot spring has long been said to be effective for eye diseases. I can’t wash my eyes directly (it’s dangerous), so I’m going to bathe in the steam and take advantage of the benefits! There were also two eye-washing Jizo. At the face bath, we can bathe your face in hot spring steam. We tried it because it was supposed to have a skin beautifying effect, and it felt good to feel our face moist and warm. Jizo no Yu, a public bathhouse. I thought the Ura-Kusatsu area was perfect for an evening stroll because it was quiet and the illuminated paths were beautiful! The building in front is “Manga-do”. It had a stylish appearance, so I was surprised that I didn’t think it was a facility where you could read manga. I also love the view from the observation deck. We were strolling around Ura-Kusatsu and it was getting dark, so we came to Yubatake. It’s so beautiful and totally different from the daytime atmosphere. The steamy smoke is more clearly visible than in the daytime, making it seem even more magical. The changing blue lights all over the area are beautiful to see. Beautiful from every angle. Kusatsu Onsen has the largest natural gush of hot spring water in Japan. The amount of hot spring water in this hot spring field is a whopping 4,000 liters per minute! The scale is so large that it is hard to get a sense of it, but when you see the vigorous flow of hot spring water in front of you, the volume is breathtaking! It’s time to head to the restaurant for dinner. We entered the restaurant! Shrimp crackers for appetizers were brought in. We ordered a variety of skewers and tempura. And the kamameshi I was looking forward to the most! It was very satisfying to be able to pour the dashi broth and make dashi chazuke (rice with dashi broth). All the food was delicious, thank you for the feast! After dinner, we returned to the inn to rest. The hot spring felt really good. On the second day, we will go to see the Yumomi show and Kusatsu Tropical World! I hope you will watch my next video! Thank you for watching!
