It is the third largest island in Japan . It takes about 80 km by car from the northernmost point of the island to the southernmost port. If you can drive on Amami Oshima, the first place you should head to on Amami Oshima is a scenic spot. However, the navigation system is too old, so I guess you’ll have to look at Google Maps (I’m glad I bought a smartphone stand) . Bashayamamura entrance . I was also wondering whether to have lunch here today, but it’s on the seashore and it seems to have a good view. Wow , the road suddenly changed to a different atmosphere. It seems like you’ll find it if you go this way, but there’s nothing there on the car navigation system. It says there’s no road. 1.4km left. It seems to have been built recently. Some people might think that remote islands are the same no matter where you go, but each one is different. Amami Oshima is a pretty big island, so I think there are many unique places. Also, it’s still a little early for the lunch restaurant. There were a lot of cars earlier, but around here… it’s emptier than I thought (easy to drive). I think I’ll get a hot coffee at Family Mart. And Family Mart was selling sata andagi . Family Mart sells bento boxes, bread and all sorts of things (homemade) and it all looked delicious. I recommend Family Mart (Family Marts on Amami Oshima are basically bento shops). Yep, it ‘s delicious . Two is 160 yen including tax, so one is 80 yen. It’s cheap. You can already buy one. They have a pack of two or you can just buy one, which is amazing. Most of the bentos are firm and moist inside. There were lots of delicious looking bentos. They were homemade bentos. I mean, there’s a kitchen in the back and they make them in the store. It’s crazy . It’s so crowded and they’re open for business. Are they open? うわー、 またね！」 English: Isn’t it from 11:30 ? Oh, when I called they said it was from 11:30, but they’re open… I’ve come to a popular restaurant on Amami Oshima. I’ll have their specialty chicken rice. For now, their specialty yakitori looks delicious, but apparently they’re not available today due to a machine malfunction. Business hours are from 11:00 to 16:00 and cash only. It’s more like ochazuke. Looking at it like this, it ‘s really spacious. It’s crowded, but it’s spacious so you’ll be shown to a table right away. We arrived and it smells really good . The chicken sashimi has arrived too. It looks the same as the breast meat I always grill at home. I can eat this as is. For now, I’ll start with the chicken rice. It is a local Amami dish that is eaten by putting mandarin orange peels on white rice and pouring chicken soup over it. It is said that it was originally made to soften the intimidating attitude of officials who came from Kagoshima mainland during the time when the island was under the control of the Satsuma Domain. At the time, chickens were very rare, so they were used to the fullest to entertain the officials . By the way, at that time, there was no custom of pouring soup over the rice, but the idea of pouring soup over the rice became widespread and has become commonplace today. It’s actually quite good. The pickled ginger is surprisingly good. The broth and rice are free to refill . I shoved it inside my suitcase so the shape of my hat is weird.The parking lot for Heart Rock is here but you can’t get out of the parking lot so you have to go out onto the road and go straight ahead and the place from before is just a mysterious animal trail and if you wear this hat your face won’t get so hot but it’s still hot and the heat builds up then I can see the sign , shall we come and see the ocean view? I think it took about 10 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the beach. Then we arrived at Heart Rock. The sign is amazing. Look at the paragliders flying around, it’s crashing into them, it’s okay, they ‘re dodging them at the last moment. It seems like we’ll have to walk a little further to get to Heart Rock . We’ll be on the beach. Heart Rock is probably near the rocks around there. It’s buried in the sand and can’t be seen, but I think it still has some resemblance. The waves are really powerful . The sand under our feet is quite like that, it’s like a sinking sand dune, and it really takes your feet away. It’s probably not around there. This area has a similar atmosphere to Ishigaki Island or Miyako Island. After driving on for a while, I come to Ayamaru Cape Tourist Park. I think this is it . There were stairs. We got here normally from behind the car . And then, out of nowhere , it started raining. It was just a light rain, not a downpour. Next , I’ll head to the northern tip of Amami Oshima. I believe the rain will stop and head there. If you ‘re thinking about traveling to Amami Oshima and thinking about renting a car, you should definitely rent one. The roads are like this and generally easy to drive. I think it’ll be fine even if it’s been a while since you’ve driven. Kasarizaki Lighthouse We’re heading for Kasarizaki Lighthouse in the northernmost area. Nearby there is a turtle that grants dreams, so let’s have him grant your dreams. It’s 1.7km from here , but even when you get to the end, the road is wide and easy to drive on. If you go further, you can see the ocean. Oh , I wonder if this is the parking lot. I go to number 6 and then number 7. The ocean view here also has a different atmosphere from before. Dragon Palace Legend Since ancient times, it has been believed that there is a divine land beyond the sea that brings blessings , and that happiness is brought to people from there. This is the Nirai Kanai Legend (deadpan lol). It is said that this legend was introduced to Yamato Province and became known throughout Japan as the Urashima Legend . So this is where it originated. Why? It says it’s also called Tomonase, but in the end I couldn’t figure out which, but it’s 42km from the northernmost point. Before checking into the hotel, I think I’ll go to Big 2. Speaking of Amami Oshima, I’ve heard of Big 2, so I’m sure I’ll see it today too. Oh, it’s in such an open place. There is Route 58, which you always have to go through, and about half of it is tunnels. The number of tunnels on Route 58 has increased since it opened in 1984 (apparently the Honcha Tunnel), and now there are 12 (Route 58). Route 58 is about 69 km long, and 24.6% of it is tunnels. I heard from a local that in the past there were no tunnels , so it took about 2.5 to 3 hours to travel from north to south through the mountain roads . This area is the ” why area “. I stayed at the same hotel for all three nights and will be using this hotel as my base for sightseeing. I booked it two months in advance, but it’s a popular hotel, and the location is so good and cheap that it even has a sauna, so there were no twin rooms available. It has a great layout where you can put things on top of the TV like this . There is an outlet, but there is only one outlet , and you have to borrow an extension cord. The facilities are new, and the elevators and other things are amazing. There is an automatic check-in machine where you enter your name and other information yourself. There is a large public bath like this, but I don’t use it much. There is also breakfast. This time, I went to a restaurant I found myself on Amami Oshima for breakfast, so I’m not sure, but the large public bath I was interested in is on the second floor and is open from 5pm to 11pm. When I asked, I was told that there was no morning bath, so I walked from the hotel to the sushi restaurant I had reserved. It’s 350m from here, and it’s a 5-minute walk. The tofu was also delicious . We had a huge boiled tuna, followed by tuna sushi and more sushi. It was really filling . Red amberjack, red shrimp, island octopus and the shellfish looked similar to scallops but were called mabe shellfish. Wow , this is what they have, you can see that they have this attached to them. It’s so good, isn’t it ?
Is this ice cream? I ate so much sushi that I was full, but it was worth the walk on the beach. If it was this much , I could have eaten it. Well, it’s just a simple, ordinary pancake, but it’s delicious when you eat it in a place like this. There’s whipped cream on everything. There was whipped cream on the cocoa too. It’s delicious. I was able to sleep soundly today (my blood sugar is crazy) it was delicious they’re open from 7pm to midnight the hotcakes were so good they were delicious i recommend these hotcakes to finish off a meal after going out to eat they were really heartwarming i can’t drink alcohol so i never go to bars but there are places where you can drink and sing all you want this is yango street amazing there was also this bar where you can read books if you come to yanagawa street you won’t have any problems however some stores are open until 9pm from what i’ve researched it seems like a lot of the good looking stores are open until 9pm so if you stay in a hotel nearby and can walk there it would be great being able to go for dinner without driving is just the best it’s stylish there are some stores that look like they opened recently cafe and bar 123 mart i’m also a bit interested i went back to the hotel and went in the sauna it’s been a while since i’ve had a sauna and i’m refreshed and sleeping soundly then i just noticed This is the view from the hotel, but this is Yanagawa Street where I was walking earlier . The image is out of focus . This hotel has a great location. I have a reservation for dinner around here tomorrow, but it might be a good idea to eat something afterwards.
