【京都ひとり旅】猛暑でも健やかに楽しむ方法
I’m Nanao, and I came to Kyoto after work because I want to eat 551 pork buns!!! I’m exhausted after participating in the Isetan basement food battle at Kyoto Station. I usually live a frugal life and have nothing to do with Isetan, but it’s really fun to come here after a long time!! I wanted to try the stylish salad with figs and prosciutto, but I was afraid of selling it by weight, so I couldn’t buy it ヽ(;▽;) I can buy bread and cakes for over 1000 yen, but I don’t want to spend more than 500 yen on salads. So, here is the hotel I’m staying at tonight! Even on the most expensive day of the weekend, it’s around 10,000 yen, so it seems like good value for money (be careful because I hit my foot on the corner of the low bed a few times). Today’s main dish – 551 pork bun bento – with my favorite vegetables I gave up on the stylish salad and went for corn with white dressing . Isn’t it a godsend to have two mustards for one pork bun? I always thought of 551 as being quite crowded, but the line in the basement of Isetan wasn’t so long, so it might be a hidden gem . The pork buns on an empty stomach are delicious. I love 551’s pork buns so much that I can’t eat the meat buns from convenience stores. I can’t eat meat buns, but I like pizza buns. I don’t make them at home because they don’t last long. The corn with Shiraae sauce and asparagus are also included, so it feels luxurious. The sweet and sour dumplings, normal shumai and shrimp shumai, and the fried chicken with fresh lemon were the best (°▽°). I was full, so I explored the bookshelf in the lobby . I thought they had Alfie! But for a moment, there was only one volume, not the whole series (there are fewer bookshelves than I thought and it’s smaller than the city library 🙃). There was a book store award last year, so I thought I’d read it (it’s really interesting). There was no water in the room, so I took a break from the convenience store. I’m so addicted to strong lychee soda that I’ve been drinking it a lot lately. It’s time for a midnight snack with the coffee I bought at Isetan. I’ve been wanting to go to Shinshindo for a while! Kyo Do Natsu no Cinnamon I also bought this at Isetan in Kyoto Station. Of course late-night carbohydrates aren’t tasty. I should have bought another one… (I washed my hands) I’m planning to go to Maruzen Cafe tomorrow, so I’m revisiting Lemon🍋. It was apparently published in 1931, so it’s a work that was made almost 100 years ago, but it’s catchy to place lemons in a bookstore as if they were bombs… If Kajii Motojiro existed today, he would probably be good at shooting idol MVs. Next up is “In Search of Sei Shonagon, From Finland to Kyoto.” It’s a story about a woman in her 40s who gets fed up with commuting between work and home and comes from Finland to Japan to research Sei Shonagon . I guess being bored with mundane days is a universal thing. On the morning of the second day, I looked up various shops to have a stylish breakfast in Kyoto , but , well, I thought it was a bit of a hassle… Breakfast time with yesterday’s leftovers I was so curious about Shinshindo’s Shibazuke Curry Bread that I bought it. Why is it called Shibazuke and not Fukujinzuke? ? It’s delicious, even when eaten cold!!! Also , I was happy that there was twice as much pickled eggplant as I expected. Thank you for staying at Book Hotel Kyoto Kujo. It’s close to Kyoto Station, the bathroom is clean, and it’s good value for money, so I recommend it. How can you have fun in Kyoto during the scorching heat? Countermeasure for the heatwave 1: Avoid walking for as long as possibleI’ve already eaten breakfast, so I came to a cafeIt’s very cool and an oasis in the cityMatcha latte – 750 yen – It’s a bit expensive because it’s Gion-Shijo♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪ I didn’t want to wait in line at all, so I came as soon as they opened and it wasn’t crowded at all so I was able to sit down right away✌️Well , it’s a cafe so it’s not uncomfortable even if you’re alone … I wanted to drink from a cute Agnes B. cup (sobbing) It was a little chilly in the cafe, so I walked a bitAs expected, there were still not many people in the morningCountermeasure for the heatwave 2: Cool off at a souvenir shop you pass byCountermeasure for the heatwave 3: Always stop by if there’s windI’m already drenched in sweat… Finally, I arrived at Shijo! After much deliberation, I gave up on having lunch on the riverside terrace of the Kamo River…I’m sure I’ll get heat stroke if I have lunch in a place like this. Maruzen Cafe was unexpectedly far away, so I decided to cool off at ZARA~ I used to think that when I became an adult I could buy any clothes I wanted, but the reality is that if it’s 1990 yen I’ll make an instant decision, but if it’s over 3000 yen I have to think carefully . The bag I had my eye on online is light and looks good! (Waiting for a sale 🙃) I was able to stop sweating! ZARA thank youI saw a cute miscellaneous goods store so I stopped by and bought a coffee because of the jacket , and this place is actually 4 stories tall…It was a surprisingly large store and I stayed there for about 30 minutes lolI also got a cute sticker and felt very happy ( ˘ω˘ ) I finally made it to Maruzen Cafe! At the bookstore, I bought a literary magazine called GOAT (2024 edition). I was also really attracted to the curry set, but I still have plans to go to a cafe, so I kept it simple… I see…It’s a cake with a light lemon punch… It might be a taste that makes you want to squeeze fresh lemon on top.Next , I came to Cafe Soiree, but there was a line even after 2pm.It was cool in the shade, so I waited while replenishing my salt intake.I was lucky to be able to get in after about 10 minutes♫ (I’m embarrassed that I even bought a cold drink because I was afraid of the heat).I ordered fruit punch in a slightly uncomfortable store with no background music. It seems like the atmosphere would be better at night.I was so thirsty that I drank the stylish punch in one gulp. The jiggly substance was not jelly but agar-agar (I don’t like agar jelly…sweat) Today, I was planning to go on a tour of famous cafes, but I don’t feel like eating sweets anymore. The western sun is getting stronger after 3pm.It’s kind of hot, so I want to eat soba noodles.Soba noodles are 2,000 yen…?! ! It’s a tourist spot, so it can’t be helped, but 1500 yen for somen noodles. If I’m going to pay 1500 yen for somen noodles, I want to eat bread, so I took the train to Sanjo and came to Shinshindo! My body was craving a junky saltiness. The bread for the open sandwich was a little hard and crunchy. I actually wanted to buy various types of bread, but I was so tired that my brain capacity was over, so even though I came all the way here, I went home without buying bread for home… But Shinshindo has a godly system where you can have as many refills of coffee as you want ♫ I was able to read a book at my leisure for the first time in a while, and it became a memory of Kyoto. After returning home… ~I’m not sure if I’m introducing it, but I’ll introduce the items I bought~ The cow patterned one was a cafe au lait pack, which was very rich and delicious. From here, I’ll introduce stickers by illustrators that caught my eye. There were a lot of sticker corners on the 4th floor of the general store, so it was hard to carefully select what to buy. This time, I only bought ones by Taiwanese artists, but I realized that the “cuteness” I was looking for can be found in Taiwan, so I’d like to go to Taiwan, or rather Taipei, if I can go this year. I’m checking the airfare every day (it’s surprisingly cheap 😆)
