【関西•穴場】大阪から2時間「ここ、本当に日本?」夏だけ現れる幻想の白い谷 / 奈良の秘境・半夏生の谷

Hello, this is Ikenoueno. Do you know the “white scenery” that signals the beginning of summer? This scenery was in a small village in Nara Prefecture, an hour and a half from Osaka. It is a small mountain village on the border of eastern Nara Prefecture and Mie Prefecture. The population is about 1,250 people. It has untouched nature and the original scenery of good old Japan. The Ise Honkaido Road, which connects Yamato and Ise, runs through it for about 14 km from east to west. During the Edo period, it flourished as a post town for travelers heading to Ise Shrine. The white scenery is in this village. You can see the flag. Park your car in the parking lot and walk to the white valley. Beyond this gate, a precious scenery awaits. A white scenery that signals the end of the rainy season and the beginning of summer. It is the Hangesho in Okada Valley. Hangesho grows near water and in wetlands. In recent years, wetland development and land reclamation have caused the loss of habitat, and the number of natural habitats has decreased, and in some areas, it has been designated as an endangered species. In Nara Prefecture, it has been designated as a near-threatened species. Okada Valley is one of the largest colonies of Hangesho in Japan. Thanks to the generosity of the landowner, it is open to the public free of charge. What is the origin of the name Hangesho? It comes from “Hangesho,” one of the 72 seasonal periods. During the Hangesho season, some of the leaves turn white. For this reason, it is also called “Hankesho.” The best time to see it is from early to late July. It’s like a white carpet has been laid out among the greenery. It’s a very mystical place. The sweet fragrance was soothing. There are other attractive places in Mitsue Village. We head to the shrine that is said to be the origin of the village’s name. It is a short drive from Okada Valley. Magnificent cedar trees stand in the precincts. It is said that when Yamatohime-no-Mikoto visited Mitsue Village in search of a place to worship Amaterasu Omikami, she left her walking stick as a landmark. It seems that the “stick” is still enshrined there. Sacred trees stand on both sides of the worship hall. As they are 600 years old, they have a great presence. There is one more place that you should definitely visit. Head south for about 10 minutes and leave the village. To the foot of Mt. Miune, which is 1,235m above sea level and straddles Yamato and Ise. From the Mt. Miune mountain climber parking lot, it is about a 25-minute walk to the trailhead. There is a parking space for one or two cars and a public toilet. From here, it is about 10 minutes to Fudo Falls. There is paper streamers. It seems that Acala is enshrined near the waterfall. Fudo Falls was located directly behind the hall. Fudo Falls has a drop of about 21m. The sound of the waterfall roars through the mountains enveloped in silence. The waterfall is more impressive in person than in the video. What did you think? A day trip that signals the start of summer. A famous “fantastic white valley” that remains in a good old Japanese village. It’s a hidden spot where you hardly encounter any tourists. Thank you for watching until the end. The driving route is in the description. If you found this drive useful, please rate it highly and share it!
