【立山雄山登拝~前編~】夏の大冒険第一弾!~立山へのアクセス&みくりが池温泉編~登る前から絶景に感動!
This is a hanging scroll painting called “Tateyama Mandala” that was painted to spread the “Tateyama faith” that is said to have a history of 1300 years nationwide, and the world view of “Tateyama faith” is condensed here. Tateyama is said to have paradise and hell, and humans who have fallen into hell and terrifying demons are depicted on “Kurugi-dake,” also known as the mountain of needles , and the peaks of Tateyama, including Mt. Oyama, where Amida Buddha and Bodhisattva are depicted welcoming the gods . This summer, I challenged myself to climb the peak of Mt. Oyama, the main peak of Tateyama and the center of Tateyama faith. Hello everyone! This is the tocomama information bureau. I am currently at Murodo in Tateyama. As it is a super big event for summer vacation, I have been planning to “Climb Tateyama!” for a long time, and finally I was able to get here. So, in this video, I would like to show you the climb to worship at “Mt. Oyama” of the Tateyama mountain range , which you can see in the background, and the Oyama Shrine, which is enshrined at the top of that mountain. It took seven and a half hours from Tokyo to finally get here, so one video won’t cover it all. The journey was very packed, and I think the climb itself will be very fulfilling, so I’ll split it into two parts. In the first video, we leave Tokyo and arrive at Murodo . Tomorrow, we plan to climb Mt. Oyama, so we’ll stay at a hot spring inn called “Mikurigaike Onsen,” which is located at the highest altitude in Japan, a short distance from Murodo . In the first video, I’ll show you how we spend our time at the inn , and in the second video, I’ll show you how we go up to Mt. Oyama, which we ‘ll be climbing tomorrow. The weather’s a bit iffy, but the rain that had been falling until just now stopped the moment we left the bus terminal for Murodo, so I think the sky is on our side for now. I hope it will be sunny tomorrow, the day we climb. Today, we’re heading to Mikurigaike Onsen, but first, please take a look at the journey to get here! I departed Tokyo Station at 10:22 and boarded the Hokuriku Shinkansen Kagayaki to depart for Toyama! I’m saying goodbye to the cityscape lined with buildings for a while! It’s already been an hour from my house to Tokyo Station, changing buses and JR trains. At this point, I’m already exhausted. I’m going to eat a luxurious bento and enjoy the Shinkansen journey. I was thinking that I could forget about being a housewife for a moment and enjoy an elegant solo trip , but the food got into my trachea and I started choking… While I was doing that, the mountains gradually got closer and I got excited. I arrived in Toyama. From here, I will change to another train for Tateyama. Dentetsu Toyama Station Toyama Chiho Railway is a very retro local train, and I was looking forward to riding it. After passing through the city of Toyama and the tranquil countryside, I came across the highlight of this local line, the Chigaki Bridge, which is 28 meters high. The train also slowed down, allowing me to enjoy the scenery at a leisurely pace. Only on a local train can you enjoy such scenery. The final station of the 1 hour and 10 minute train journey is approaching. We have arrived at the final destination, Tateyama Station. It has been quite an adventure so far, but the journey is not over yet. Next, we transfer to the cable car from Tateyama Station. Here, we purchased a cable car ticket. We bought a round trip ticket from Tateyama to Murodo. (7,380 yen) *Includes the highland bus fare. Valid for 5 days . I carefully checked the timetables so that I could transfer smoothly. Finally, we boarded the cable car. The boarding area was already very steep! People with large backpacks were getting on one after another. “This cable car will climb from Tateyama Station at an altitude of 475m to Bijodaira Station at an altitude of 977m, a distance of 1,300m with an elevation difference of about 500m, in 7 minutes.” The 7 minutes went by in an instant, and we arrived at Bijodaira Station. There were many people wearing mountain climbing equipment. In front of Bijodaira Station is “Bijo Sugi”, which has a deep connection with Tateyama faith. A long time ago, when women were still not allowed to climb Tateyama, a young girl broke the rules and tried to climb Tateyama, but incurred the wrath of the mountain god and was turned into a cedar tree. The legendary cedar tree is also depicted in the Tateyama Mandala. Bijo Sugi has now become a power spot for love fulfillment and is a famous spot visited by many couples. While we were looking at Bijo Sugi, we heard that a special bus was leaving, so we hurried to the bus stop. We took the Tateyama Kogen Bus from Bijodaira to Murodo. A special bus has left! It seems that the Kogen Bus runs special buses depending on the situation. There are many famous places on the route. Among them, “Shomyo Falls” is designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument with the highest drop in Japan at 350m. The bus also stops here, so you can take your time to enjoy the view. On the left side of the V-shaped mountain is “Shomyo Falls,” and on the right side is the phantom waterfall “Hannoki Falls,” which only appears during the snowmelt season. I was lucky to see the phantom waterfall! I could see the mountains with snow remaining! I could see Mt. Tsurugi! I can’t see Mt. Tsurugi from Murodo, so I’ll take a good look at it here! There is still so much snow left. This is the famous “Snow Valley.” The 16m-high snow wall has lowered considerably, but there is still a little left. We’re about to arrive at Murodo. Climbers are asked to submit a “climbing plan. ” I submitted mine on YAMAP online. We’ve arrived at Murodo Terminal! It’s cool. It’s not that cold, but I feel like I should put on long sleeves. This is the exit. Here we are ! We’re here! It’s still raining a little , but we can see Mt. Tateyama! Yay! It’s clearing up! We can see Mt. Tateyama! There’s still a lot of snow left. I had been checking the live camera at Murodo, but there was a lot of fog and the mountains were completely invisible in the footage, so I didn’t think I’d be able to see Mt. Tateyama in this weather. We’ve arrived at Murodo! (I’ve said this many times…) There’s a big stone monument here with “Mt. Tateyama ” engraved on it, Chubu Sangaku National Park, and in the distance you can see the Tateyama mountain range! Wow, I’m so moved! So happy! The rain has just stopped. I can see Mt. Tateyama clearly! And so, we’ve arrived at Murodo. The rain clouds are gradually thinning and it’s getting brighter. It’s already past 3:30, so I’ll head to Mikurigaike Onsen, where I’ll be staying for the night. It’s about a 15-minute walk to Mikurigaike Onsen, so it doesn’t seem too difficult. The roads are nicely maintained like this. It’s great to be able to walk while looking at the Tateyama mountain range all the way . I’m so happy! This snow! Remaining snow. It’s cool! So cool! I can see Mikurigaike Pond! Wow! Amazing! Wait! It’s so beautiful! The color of the water is deep because of the remaining snow . Maybe it’s because it’s evening, but wow, it’s so beautiful! Amazing! Too beautiful! Mikurigaike Pond is so beautiful ! The sun is shining, so the contrast is even clearer and it’s so beautiful! The reflection is also beautiful! And Mt. Tateyama, which I will climb tomorrow! I can see some buildings over there. Amazing! Mikurigaike Pond is a volcanic lake formed about 10,000 years ago, with a circumference of about 630m and a depth of about 15m. Its beautiful appearance makes it said to be the most beautiful volcanic lake in the Northern Alps. This photo was taken by my sister, who will join us later. The reflection of the Tateyama mountains on the calm lake surface is amazing! I head towards the inn while admiring the Mikurigaike pond. I’ve arrived at Mikurigaike Onsen! There’s no one there… This is where I’ll be staying tonight. I’ll check in now. Most people have already finished checking in and are relaxing in the hot spring . I came here thinking it was a mountain hut, but the entrance is a hotel! You can also take a day trip to the hot spring. The hot spring is the pride of this inn! The highest natural hot spring in Japan . What does it feel like to have a hot spring at an altitude of 2,400m? I’m looking forward to it! Since I was alone this time, I had to stay in a dormitory (shared room). Someone who arrived earlier was already resting, so I was a little careful not to disturb them. My bed is on the top bunk! Actually, sleeping in a dormitory bed like this was one of my favorite things. There’s enough space for one futon to lay out my luggage. The lights are on and there’s an outlet! I’m happy that I can charge my devices! It’s more than enough space for a mountain hut! There’s still a little time before dinner, so I’ll relax here. Cafe Mikuri The menu is also abundant! However, I didn’t want to miss dinner, so I decided to just have coffee. Specially made coffee with a siphonThe view outside the window was so extraordinary! It felt like a dream to have arrived at a place I had always longed for and to be able to spend this time like this . Right next to the inn is Jigokudani, where steam rises , and the smell of sulfur hangs over the entire area. Since ancient times, Jigokudani in Tateyama has been one of the three major sacred places in Japan, and it is also a place where people who believe in Tateyama worship the fumarole . Since 2011, an increase in the concentration of toxic sulfurous gas has been confirmed , and it is no longer possible to enter Jigokudani. Depending on the wind direction, the concentration of volcanic gases can increase, so you should be careful of volcanic gas information when walking around the area. The sun is setting. It’s hard to believe that it had been raining just a few hours ago . This view can only be seen if you stay on top of the mountain. The mountains are gradually dyed red by the setting sun . Finally, the sun has set. I was able to see a sunset that foreshadowed a clear day tomorrow. It’s almost time for dinner. The dining room has many seats and is very clean! What a menu! What a luxurious menu. There is a Toyama local sake corner . I think many people who stay here look forward to this! It’s so luxurious! It doesn’t feel like a mountain hut meal! I’m glad I was hungry! I can enjoy marinated seafood on the mountain! Scallops. I had a very enjoyable dinner time with the people at my table, talking about mountains . After dinner, we had some fun♪ A large screen was set up in the dining room, and an event was held where we enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Tateyama taken by the staff along with live piano music. This was so moving that it brought tears to my eyes, and it was the best. It seems to be an event for rainy days, but it cleared up in the evening on this day, so we actually went outside after this and watched the stars! It was difficult to see with the naked eye, but by making full use of the functions of my iPhone, I was able to capture the Milky Way lying vaguely in the sky above Tateyama! The lights on the top of Mt. Oyama. These are the lights of Oyama Shrine. During the season, a priest is always present at Oyama Shrine at the summit, and the lights are turned off at exactly 9pm. To the lower right of Oyama, you can see the lights of “Ichinokoshi”, which we will pass tomorrow. I wanted to gaze at the starry sky forever, but since I had to get up early the next morning , I decided to take a dip in the hot spring and go to bed at 9pm. The hot spring was milky white and slightly viscous, and it was a very nice hot spring! It was already a dreamlike experience for the first day. But tomorrow is the real thing! With thoughts of reaching the summit of Oyama… the first day is over. Good night… this is the climax of this trip! We are heading for the summit of Oyama! What is the mountain miracle that occurs every time the climb is steeper than expected and we are about to give up?! Will tocomama be able to pray at the shrine at the summit safely ?!
