4K Japan Walk: Hiking the Todoroki Waterfalls Trail in Tokushima
Todoroki Falls, located in Kaiyo Town, Tokushima Prefecture, is the largest waterfall in Shikoku and is also selected as one of “Japan’s Top 100 Waterfalls.” The main fall boasts an impressive 58-meter drop, and as its name “Todoroki” (which means “roar”) suggests, the powerful sound of the water truly trembles the earth.
In this video, we’ll take you on a hike along the trail that explores Todoroki Falls and the series of waterfalls upstream, collectively known as the “Todoroki 99 Waterfalls.” There is a well-maintained walking path, and it’s about a 2-hour round trip from the main fall to the uppermost Nabewari Falls. Along the way, you can encounter a variety of beautiful waterfalls, each with its own unique character, such as the Nijunotaki (Double-layered Fall) and the Yokominotaki (Side-view Fall). It was a fantastic hiking experience, refreshing both mind and body while walking amidst the sounds of the clear stream surrounded by a primeval forest.
We hope you enjoy the video and that it inspires your next trip to Japan!
