【廃村】白谷集落 – 山口市徳地船路

Hello Today, I’m heading to a settlement called Shiredani in Tokuji, Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. This I’m going up this坂道, but I can’t make the turn on this uphill. No, I can’t. I’ll make a U-turn here. Turn around here. Probably. I think so. It looks like I’m going up this way. This looks like it, but is it different? This looks like it. It seems to be beyond this point. Wow! That surprised me! It’s quite a steep slope. But compared to before, it’s totally easy. Quite It’s pretty deep in the mountains. I was surprised! There are quite a few steps, so I can see rice paddies. I can see rice paddies. This might be bad. This is, you know. Wait a minute. Back up for a bit. I can’t grasp the position. The step is big, isn’t it? Wait a minute. That rock is in the way. How about this? Alright, I went. Well then. Wow! This is amazing. A little further, perhaps? This is a log cultivation site. There’s a log cultivation site. On the right side. I feel like it’s slightly off. From the house. This is also a log cultivation site. Oh dear? It’s not there. That’s strange. It should be on the left side, though. Wait, wait. I’m going in a completely different direction. The house is on the left side, you see. If I go up a bit more, it goes to the left. Wait, wait. Did I get off track? It’s a little off. Is this wrong? It seems a bit off. Oh, this is a failure. This is wrong. Maybe I went up too high. It’s on the left side, you see. It seems I’ve strayed from the path. I’m going back. Failure, failure. I went up too high. Oh, I can’t do this. Wait, wait, wait, wait. No, no, no, this is impossible. It’s here. This is it. A bit of a mistake. It seems I went a bit too far. I’ll go down from here and take a look. Now, let’s take a look. These former farmlands, aren’t they really beautiful? There’s also a box trap, but the former farmlands are really beautiful. So, I’ll go up here and take a look. It seems to be relatively close from here, so I’ll quickly go and quickly come back. It seems like I’m supposed to go up from around here. I don’t want to go along the river, so I don’t like it. Maybe from here. This seems to be it. I hear the sound of frogs (cicadas?). Just this. If it’s a bamboo grove, then probably there won’t be any houses. Probably not. This What is it? It’s like an old wheelbarrow. On the right side, former farmlands are spreading out. This is definitely the “not there” pattern. Probably. Something like four houses… It seems there are about four houses, but on an old map (1974). There are also windmills, and stone walls on the left side. Is there nothing here? It doesn’t look like there’s anything. Wow! The stone wall is beautiful. It seems to be around here. It’s about a minute’s walk away. I can’t find it at all. Ah! There’s a windmill and this What is it? Crossing to the other side There’s also a bridge, so should I go to the other side? Is that good? Let’s cross to the other side. I’m going to the other side. Oh, this is bad. This seems to be the way. Is this not here? Normally, it doesn’t seem to be there. It seems to be around here. One more level up? This is definitely not it. It’s here too, and I thought so, but did I cross this one? There are some spiderwebs. It’s quite close from here. This Is it ahead? It’s quite close, but it seems to be on the right. This right side. It’s not here. Oh!? It’s there. There’s something on the upper side. Something like corn, a grass family plant… There are many of those plants. But this right side is also like that. Is it here? It seems to be around here, but isn’t it this? It’s above this. Found it. Found it! Found it! This is it! Wow! This is amazing. Well then, It seems there was electricity here. Of electricity. The meter’s outer frame is there, so it’s this entire area. The cauldron is also rolling over there. A little impossible. It seems it was here. Once I go up. Wow! There’s also a pot. The pot is heavy. And it’s a Goemon bath. Look. Goemon bath. There’s a hole here. Well then, This is it. What is this? This grass grows well here, but There’s a building here, and below this, too. It seems it was standing. Here, below this. What is that? There’s something like a well. I didn’t notice, but there’s something like a well there. I want to see that. What was this again? Like a chestnut. Persimmon? It’s a chestnut. Leaves like a chestnut… There’s also a foundation here. Below this. Can you tell? There’s a foundation here. And something like a bicycle basket. It’s a bicycle. It’s like this. This place must have been quite old. That’s what I’m curious about. Something like a well. What is this? It wasn’t a water basin. A water tank (well cylinder)? It looks like a water tank. Well then, Up there, let’s go see that building. This looks like it. It seems to have collapsed. It’s quite large. Not this way, but attack from over there. This seems to be it. Quite large. This is a latrine trace? This is like a cesspool. I don’t want to get close. You can burn firewood from here, and Look, this Goemon… Whoa! I was surprised. This is it. It must be a Goemon bath. It’s there. The remains of a Goemon bath. Look, this. You burn firewood, and there’s a Goemon bath. It must have been like that. This is… This might be all. A little, you know. I can’t find anything else. I can’t find it. There’s nothing like a shrine, and no graves. Something like rice paddies. In the place. Was there a house? It seems there’s nothing notable, so I’d like to end it here. I thought I’d finish, but it seems there are still some places I haven’t seen yet. This is hard to understand. Is it this way? It seems there’s something else here too. Is it this way? This way? It seems to be this way, but it might be the opposite. Something around here. Is it here? Is it this side? Oh! Found it! That’s it! This seems to be it. It seems there’s one more house, but it’s on the other side. Well, I found it! Here too. It seems to have been here. Is this also a bathhouse? Yes, it’s a bathhouse. Look, there’s something like a golden orb-weaver spider. It came up, but Part of a tiller. Mechanical. And there are insulators. There’s some machinery, and there’s a big drum can. Look, the tiller’s some kind of tool. It says YANMAR. Speaking of YANMAR, it’s a famous one. What is it? Anyway, there’s a foundation. The machine is big, isn’t it? What is this? A drum can? And this. Can you tell? This large Not a thresher, but something like that. I don’t know, but There’s some kind of machine. Hmm, I don’t know. Well then, There’s a hole here too. There’s something here too. What is it? Haran? Something like Haran. There’s a lot of scattered stuff around here. Pots, and such Bottles or something Jars, and such There’s something Various things I guess it’s something like that. But I can’t find any graves or cemeteries. Was it one level below here? The house Look, it’s over there. The house is over there. Now, shall we look for a bit more? What is it? I’m curious about this. What for? They’re stacking these stones. It’s interesting, isn’t it? Let’s look a bit more. Probably, there’s nothing on this side. It’s on the right side. But, something here, because the stone walls are beautiful, you want to see it, right? These kinds of things. After that, maybe just rice paddies. Just spiderwebs. There are a lot of spiderwebs. Wow! Something got in my eye. There are no cemeteries or shrine ruins. Nothing. There’s some strange machine, but it’s over there. Let’s go see the machine. What is this? What is this? I don’t really understand. Something must have been here. A hut or something. Look, there’s even a weapon. But this is beautiful. These steps. You can see that there’s a place to walk like this. Can you tell? It’s easy to see when you look at it like this. There’s a place to walk. Let’s go up a little more. And the last house. Shall we go see it? Wow! A frog jumped. The stone wall is beautiful. Alright. Well, it’s probably around here. It’s pointless to climb any higher, so from here, to the right, we’ll proceed. So, from here, I’d like to go see the last house ruin. It’s probably on the lower side, isn’t it? The very furthest side. Let’s go down a bit. Caught a crab. One arm is missing. It was there, it was there. Both arms were there. I thought it wasn’t there. Huh? Not there? No, it’s not. One arm is missing. *Crabs can regenerate lost limbs (claws and legs) through molting. Found it, that’s it. Can it be traversed? This looks like it. I managed to get over it. This is it. I found it. But, there’s no house. This looks like a Goemon bath. It looks like a brick Goemon bath. This is the water place. A drainage area? Something like that. It must be a drainage area. It’s like this. Well, it must have been here. As expected, if I had gone straight from that previous spot, it seems I would have found it. A path is formed above. I should have followed this path from that earlier spot. That earlier spot. What is this? A tiller-like machine? Probably this. That’s right. Something is written. Something is written. I don’t really know. I wonder if those who know, know? This is probably all. Probably no graves. I guess. There’s something. Over there too. Something like a small shrine. Is this a hearth? It must be. Tiles are stacked on top. Traces of stacked tiles. Yes. There’s a stone mortar here. Maybe they were pounding mochi with this. The spiderwebs are so beautiful. And, well, isn’t it something like this? Well, I think I’ve seen most of it. So, I’ll end it here. So, I’ll end it here. There are a lot of eye gnats, but excuse me. I’ve come back to Shiredani again. Well, I haven’t seen this side, so I’ll go see this side. This pillar that says “Beware of Fire”, if I go left from this pillar, what is it? Something is written. What is this? Something scholarship fund. It says “Scholarship Fund”. I don’t really understand. The ground here has caved in. I haven’t seen this side. This is also a former rice paddy. There’s a small shrine here. Can you tell? The small shrine… It’s a small shrine. Well, is there anything beyond that? I don’t think there’s anything. For now, this is probably it for here. I’ll go up to the very top. I found a cemetery. This is it. Well, I’ve just been to the very top, but it was a completely different direction. There was a cemetery here. This is also a cemetery. It probably continues down further, but around here, for example. There’s something here too. I can’t confirm it due to time constraints, but here, here are Jizo statues and such, enshrined. Excuse me. Something is written. What is this? Kyushin (Resting Heart) It says Kansei 9 (1797). I can’t quite read it. I’ll check it again when I get back. It’s like this. It’s here too. Jizo statues are rolling around. It’s amazing, isn’t it? It’s like this. There’s still more on this side, but is this all a cemetery? It’s very mossy. This is all of it. Excuse me. It’s here too. This is probably it too. It’s mossy, but It was like this. There’s a lot, isn’t there? When you look from here, it’s like this. That’s the feeling. The location, you know. I found it by pushing through the bushes, but This says Showa 36 (1961). Exactly here, the log cultivation site. Excuse me. It was here. That, where the car just made a U-turn. It was here. With that, I’d like to end. Thank you very much.

  9. Hi Mituki, always a pleasure to see you! Drying those logs is unusual for me. We dry our wood in huge piles. They sell Yanmar tractors around here, nice to see a familiar name. Thanks for the video and see you next time. 😻😻

  10. お疲れさまでした。寛政9年の墓があるということは、江戸時代から続く由緒ある集落だった?んですかね🤔
    しかし、ここいかにもヒル出そうだけど、大丈夫でしたか😰
