Korea was actually not on my Wishlist But I ended up having a crush on this country a gathering place of so many art galleries and museums Once I arrive here I can spend my whole day to visit the art exhibitions there Annyeong, I’m Duong and my channel Duongrkudo often shares contents about art exhibitions and reviews on art books on my journey South Korea was not originally on my Wishlist but I had a crush on this country and I’ve been there twice to both Busan and Seoul With my certain experience I’d like to share with you a summary of places recommended for art-lovers museums and art galleries some cultural and historic destinations those art-lovers would love to see Of course this video is gonna be long with lots of information so you might divide it into different watch sessions now, please follow me If you like to explore on your own itinerary to non-typical places in schedule tours then you’d definitely like to solo-travel like I do The hardest part of travelling to South Korea might only be the visa Everything else from flight booking to hotel booking and making a travel plan should all be easy all can be done online I myself learned some Korean words and phrases and also used some translator app to read menu in restaurants and signs On my way I used both a local map app and Google Maps so my trip was quite smooth though the Korean didn’t use much English I still felt okay When planning your itinerary don’t forget to note which metro is nearby your destinations even exactly which station exit it helps you save walking time. those first coming to South Korea I’d recommend metro rather than bus because using Bus is a bit more complicated For art-lovers like me who like explore art galleries and museums You’d need to buy tickets at the museums prices around 5000-7000 krw might be changed now might be more expensive at certain places 10000, 14000, 15000 krw I was actually on a budget so I rarely visited those places the contents there were usually not my cup of tea Before coming to museums and art galleries I’d recommend you check their opening time online They usually close on certain days of a week Mondays, for example However, they might still be closed on other days might be due to the preparation for a new exhibition or simply for renovation Beside the modern art museums and galleries I think if you have watched this video you should also see the palaces and those historic sites Those usually have ancient architecture with traditional Korean decorative details Those are gorgeous. You’d like them. Countries in the Sinosphere might look alike from the outside but indeed are very different when looked at close Especially ancient buildings and artworks I could see the difference clearly between Korea, Vietnam, Japan and China For first-timers There might be a consideration between Busan and Seoul That is understandable because They are two biggest cities and most popular to travel to However, if the choice is limited a bit more to the hobby of seeing art exhibitions you might have to choose between the two I’d recommend you choose Seoul Because Seoul has more convenience and choices for you to see If your budget is limited You might refer my itinerary I travelled with quite a tight budget and I’ve made a whole playlist on travelling to Korea in my channel For my first trip, I only focused on Seoul Another reason was the transportation due to the terrain of Seoul flatter than Busan the traffic network in general and public transport specifically spreads better in Seoul than in Busan I also have a feeling that the density of metro stations and the density of my destinations such as galleries, museums and historic places higher density in Seoul than in Busan so after travelling both two cities I feel like I’m more in to Seoul As I’ve just said, the sites in Busan are spreaded widely Large museums are mostly far from the city center The sites I’m gonna mention next are located near Haeundae so you might consider of your accommodation proximity Now let’s look at the map of Busan As you can see, this his Haeundae and this is an area of large conventional places called BEXCO area You might catch a train to BEXCO station There’s Busan Museum of Art nearby … This place is large Opposite would be BEXCO Busan Exhibition and Convention Center There are large events here through all the year but you might care about the event of Art Busan usually on May so if you come to Busan in May you might see both Art Busan and the Busan Museum of Art There’s more, right at the rear of Busan Museum of Art there is Space Lee Ufan This is a private gallery showcasing artworks by Lee Ufan a famous sculturist and painter of South Korea Videography is not allowed inside here but trust me The architecture and landscape of this place itself is an artwork already For travelling in Busan the 3 places I’ve just mentioned but just be enough However, if you have more time and also like the art of photography You might wanna see Goeun Museum of Photography Goeun Museum of Photography is located in a nice quite neighborhood It’s location is not close to any metro station You might want to research how to get here by bus I walked from the Busan Museum of Art and almost passed out, LOL at Goeun Museum of Photography the ground floor is for exhibiting and selling photography books those are related to the exhibitions For photography lovers you might consider buying the photographic books here because it’s hard to find them anywhere else The exbitional area on the second floor is spacious I also love the outdoor area of this building You can go out here and rest after seeing the exhibition If you come here during the sunset, it’d be beautiful and those are some recommendations for the East of Busan In the central area there is Seomyeon Museum of Art The place is small but it’s convenient to visit and near Jeanpo cafe Street You can come in the afternoon then walk to Jeanpo Street for cafe and night out in Vietnam I don’t drink at Cong so often only casually when my friends asked me to come I drank at Starbuck in Seoul (Myeongdong) last year Things I don’t do much in Vietnam and now I do in Korea Next will be 2 private galleries Open Space Bae is near the Jungang station on a high street called Donggwang-gil This is a contemporary art gallery They tend to escape from academic system Exhibiting non-academic things It’s funny that when I came here I didn’t see anybody at all no receptionist no guard to check if there is any visitor I just came, then went upstairs saw all the artworks and left I’m in front of Open Space Bae I’ve just seen the gallery and loved it Very satisfied and now… According to the map, there is another gallery just nearby, less than 1 km of walking Gallery Playlist is also near the Jungang station like Open Space Bae but in another direction and on a lane called Daecheong-ro 13 I have good impression on this gallery Let’s have a look Next, Gallery SAP is a very interesting place in Busan Highly recommended!!! I’m pretty sure this place is not on any travel tour or any review on Busan travel before mine You only need to get to Nampo station Exit 4 This is a busy commercial area next to Jagalchi and BIFF square Get to the 14th floor of this building and it will be Gallery SAP I apprecite the collection of this gallery Even if you don’t care much about the artworks You might still want to check-in at this place for such amazing window views to look out to the city of Busan Many people go to Busan tower to see the city for me, visiting Gallery SAP is enough Busan certaily has more places to visit just unfortunately not convenient to my route or just not my taste However, I’d still introduce them here for your reference MUSEUM-1 This one is near BEXCO station and I guess many people like it because this place is mostly digital art with audio and visual experience quite similar to Van Gogh museum in Vietnam The ticket is quite expensive at the time I visit Busan it was around 18.000 krw for adults Now it might be different Arte Museum Busan This place is located in the South of Busan and a bit far from the city center Its distance to BEXCO and Haeundae is very far Theo mình xem trên website chính thức của họ
As I check their official website I could see many contemporart artworks mostly installation and digital art However, seeing its location on an oasis without any metro station only bus stops, I skipped it Museum of Contemporary art . If you stay in the city center and do not mind the distance after visiting Arte Museum you might come to the West there would be Museum of Contemporary Art Busan please look at the map It’s also on an oasis accessible only by bus. no train. Well I’ve just recommended places for art-lovers coming to Busan I travel and make vlog so I’ve checked-in at many places for a trip in a few days You’d only need to pick an area for accommodation and visit 2-3 places Except the public transport issue Busan is still a very pleasurable city to vist for its weather not too hot not too cold prices are also more affordable than in Seoul This vlog episode is ending here Please also see my next episode which is about Seoul The specific addresse of the places I mention will be in the video description Thank you for watching and supporting my vlog channel Goodbye and see you again <3 Annyeong <3 <3 <3
