🇯🇵 河内 (廃村) 福井県池田町 Kouchi, Abandoned Village in Ikeda Fukui | Jan 2020 [4K Binaural]
This video documents a walking visit to Kouchi, an abandoned village in Ikeda Town, Fukui Prefecture, filmed in Jan 2020 with GoPro Hero 7 and a binaural microphone.
Kouchi village lies about 5 km downstream from Tashiro on the upper reaches of the Asuwa River in Ikeda Town. Once a small farming settlement with roughly 15 households, a shrine, and a school. it had already vanished by the mid-1970s, leaving very little behind. During this visit, I could find only minimal remains: the ruins of a shop, a Jizō statue, a couple of tombstones, some house foundations.
Recorded in immersive binaural audio and filmed in 4K, this video captures the quiet atmosphere of a place slowly being reclaimed by nature. It’s both a remembrance of what once was and a reflection on the decline of remote mountain communities.
