みやぎ東日本大震災津波伝承館と、変わってしまった女川駅／旧女川交番/Tsunami Memorial Museum and Onagawa
みやぎ東日本大震災津波伝承館と、女川駅／旧女川交番を見学しました。みやぎ東日本大震災津波伝承館では、東日本大震災で発生した大津波がいかに恐ろしいものであったかを思い知らされることになりました。
なすすべもない中で、あのような大津波から逃れることができた方たちは奇跡だとしか言いようがありません。それと同時に、東日本大震災で亡くなられた数多くの方たちに哀悼の意を表します。
今後、訪れるであろう大災害のときに、こちらの伝承館で伝えられていたことを思い出したいと思っています。
私たちは、東日本大震災前の2006年に女川駅を訪れました。今の女川駅には、当時の面影はありませんでした。街がすっかり変わってしまうほど大きな被害を受けていたのかと思うと、胸が痛みます。
震災遺構として残されている、支柱がはがれて横になった旧女川交番が、大津波の恐ろしさを物語っていました。
We visited the Miyagi East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Memorial Museum and the Onagawa Station/former Onagawa police box. The Miyagi Memorial Museum served as a stark reminder of the sheer terror of the Great East Japan Earthquake’s massive tsunami.
Amidst the helplessness, those who managed to escape such a devastating tsunami can only be described as miracles. At the same time, we express our deepest condolences to the many who lost their lives in the disaster.
In the face of future catastrophes, we hope to remember the lessons shared at this memorial museum.
We had visited Onagawa Station back in 2006, before the disaster. The current station bears no resemblance to how it once looked. It pains our heart to think how severely the town was damaged—so much that it became unrecognisable.
The remains of the former Onagawa police box, with its pillars torn away and left collapsed, stood as a stark testament to the horror of the tsunami.
