Tsukiji Morning Walk | Tokyo Walking Tour【4K HDR】
Today, we’ll start our walk at Tsukiji Station,
and make our way to Shintomicho Station. Along the route, we’ll pass through the lively Tsukiji Outer Market,
famous for its fresh seafood and bustling atmosphere. Here we are at Tsukiji Honganji Temple,
a unique Buddhist temple with an Indian-inspired design. Built in the 1930s,
its distinctive style stands out in Tokyo’s cityscape. The temple is open to the public,
welcoming visitors who want to explore its beautiful architecture and peaceful grounds. It remains a popular spot for both worshippers and tourists alike. This is Tsukiji Higashi-dori Street,
one of the main streets in the Tsukiji area. It leads into the famous Tsukiji Outer Market,
a lively place full of shops and fresh food stalls. Tsukiji Market has a long history,
dating back to the early 20th century when it opened as Tokyo’s main fish market. Though the inner wholesale market moved in 2018,
the outer market remains a popular spot for fresh seafood and traditional foods. It’s a great place to experience Tokyo’s food culture up close. This is Namiyoke Street, located near Tsukiji Market. The name “Namiyoke” means “wave protection,”
reflecting the area’s history of protecting the land from Tokyo Bay’s waves. Along this street, you’ll find traditional shops,
restaurants, and buildings that show the charm of old Tokyo. It’s a lively street full of visitors, bustling with energy after the market hours. This is Namiyoke Shrine, located near Tsukiji Market. Founded in 1659, it was built to protect the area from tsunamis and fires. Today, many market workers and locals visit to pray for safety and good fortune. Tsukiji is a historic district in Tokyo, known for its long connection to the sea and commerce. Originally, it was a small fishing village before developing into a major market area during the Edo period. In 1935, the famous Tsukiji Fish Market was established here, becoming one of the world’s largest seafood markets. The area has always been a hub for fresh seafood and a lively trading center, attracting merchants and customers from across Japan. Even today, Tsukiji remains a symbol of Tokyo’s rich food culture and bustling market life. In 2018, the inner wholesale market of Tsukiji moved to a new location in Toyosu. Toyosu Market features modern facilities and improved hygiene standards. However, the outer market at Tsukiji remains lively, with many shops and restaurants still operating. This is St. Luke’s Street, a calm and tidy road located near the Tsukiji and Shintomicho areas. Named after the nearby St. Luke’s International Hospital, this area blends medical institutions with residential and business buildings. Its peaceful atmosphere and clean streets make it a pleasant route for a quiet urban walk.
