On the grounds of Nagoya Castle, the Nagoya Omotenashi Busho-tai, made up of military commanders associated with the Sengoku period such as Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, will perform impressive demonstrations. Port of Nagoya Aquarium The Port of Nagoya Aquarium opened its south wing in 1992 to display the Earth’s oceans, and opened its north wing to display the history of the sea in 2001, and is an aquarium that continues to develop with the aim of promoting ocean protection and education. The temple grounds have a beautiful historical garden and a sacred fox mound, where many fox statues are dedicated, and Inari sushi is famous in the Monzen town, as fried tofu is said to be the favorite food of foxes. Okazaki Castle Okazaki Castle is a historic castle that was built around 1455 by Yoritsugu Saigo, the governor of Mikawa Province, and is known as the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu. When the castle was built by the Saigo clan, it functioned as a defense base, and was later moved to its current location by Lord Matsudaira Kiyoyasu, and the name Okazaki Castle has since become established. During the Sengoku period, it was used as a base by the Matsudaira clan, and was an important base for Ieyasu as he aimed to unify the country, and even after that, it was treated as a special castle where the gods were born. Inuyama Castle was designated as a national treasure in 1935 as a valuable cultural property whose castle tower remains close to the time it was built, and is carefully preserved as one of the 12 existing castle towers and the oldest in Japan.
