This time, I’m going to Calgary, Canada. It’s been about four years since I last entered Canada in November 2021. And although the video may already be up, this time I’m going to Detroit, USA, via Calgary using WestJet, the cheapest Canadian airline . I’ve never used WestJet before, so this is my first time. I booked a premium economy flight from Tokyo Narita Airport to Detroit, Canada, via Calgary. I’m looking forward to it because WestJet seems to have a pretty good reputation. I also have an overnight layover in Calgary, so I’m going to take a quick look at the city of Calgary . On the day I visited, the G7 Summit, which brings together leaders of developed countries led by US President Trump, was being held in Kanaskis, Alberta, a town adjacent to Calgary , so I was able to experience scenery and atmosphere that I don’t usually see. I’ll also introduce them in this video . Please watch until the end. So, as I just explained, I’m going to Calgary, Canada. So, I think the first video will be about Detroit, but I ‘ll be going through Calgary to get to Detroit . I’ll be staying in Calgary for one night, so I’ll be sharing my trip to Calgary and my stay there in this video. The trip started here at Narita Airport. It just so happens that the G7 summit is currently being held in Canada. The G7 summit is being held in the city next to Calgary, and there is an international conference with the G7 leaders from around the world. I think they probably landed in Calgary and then moved there , and I think the attendants and the leaders are in a hotel in Calgary . I don’t know. If it’s like that, I’d like to cover that as well. Why is it that Japanese Prime Minister Ishihara, Trump, and French President Macron are all gathering around Canada’s Keigari area? Well, it just so happened that we were there , so I’d like to take a look around there as well. So , as I explained earlier, this time I flew with West Jet, a luxury company in Canada, which I think is the second largest luxury company in Canada. It’s second only to Air Canada, and it’s an LCC, but it’s an airline that’s almost full service. It’s my first time flying with them. The reason I chose them this time was because they were the cheapest. Yes. Well, well, this North American route is quite expensive. Of course, I thought that I could use miles and get business class, or maybe cash business class, but I thought it was quite expensive , so I was looking for the cheapest bottle and found West Z. So, if you go with the other Nikkei A-Line, it would cost about 200,000 yen for a one-way ticket. Yes. Well, it depends on the day, but this time I flew in a light-duty car with WestJet , but I got it for about 130,000 yen. And, even if I chose premium economy, it was about that much between Japan, Tokyo and Calgary, so yeah. Well, this time I’m going to try out the WestJet for the first time in a pre-cooler, and I’d like to experience what it’s like. Well, the travel is not the main part of the video, but I think it will be a story after the light-duty car is attached . Yes. So, let’s check in now and go. It’s been a while since I’ve traveled long distances. It takes about 10 hours. To be honest, I don’t want to get on from Narita. Well, regardless of which big company it is, WestJet is in Terminal 1, North A. A counter. Sorry. It was F counter, not A counter. This is WestJet’s, Ren. So, this time I’m using Priority Ren. This is Premium Economy and Business Class, and, well, those who have the qualifications. Yes. I don’t have it so I can’t actually use it, but since it’s a Preco, I can use it this time. And, as for mileage, it’s linked to Delta Airlines, so you can earn Delta miles. I might be able to do other things too, but I’ll earn them with Delta this time. So I’ve completed the check-in. So this is my second time using PP Yanma in my life. Surprisingly, I’ve never used it before. I entered for the first time the other day. That was a long time ago, though. This is the first time I’ve been to this Japanese restaurant called Tetsu, but it’s really crowded. I’ll try it. So, this is the Priority Pass set. It’s super luxurious, but I didn’t think it would be this amazing. It comes with a side dish. And tempura and udon, I think. I chose the B set here, the B set, but it seems that B doesn’t include alcohol or drinks. A is meat bowl and tempura. I don’t need alcohol. Water, water is fine. I chose this side dish. This is wonderful. I didn’t know. I feel like not many people eat this. I think a lot of people go to that Yangman kiyaki, but I don’t think there are many people who go bar-hopping. Wow, I ate a little too much. Well, but if you don’t go to the lounge, this is better, if you don’t have that status, you can use your PP. Power. Wonderful. So, I’m so full, I stopped going to the lounge. There is a lounge that you can enter with PP, but I’m going to sit near the smoking area and increase it until I appear. I think it’s hard to tell from the video, but even a fairly large person like me has plenty of room. And there were cushions and blankets placed there from the start, and there was water like this . And there are also great amenities. Aren’t the amenities almost the same as in business class? This is amazing. It’s a little hard to see. Sorry. Eye mask, wipes , and moisturizing cream. Oh, no. So, I compromised a little this time, and rather than getting a window seat, the window seat was not open , so I got an aisle seat. I wanted to get a window seat, but I couldn’t get one at the check-in counter. Window seats aren’t very popular. On a normal flight. All the window seats were taken this time. But there are only four rows in total . Maybe the competition is pretty fierce. They’re taking orders for the interior color now . No, my legs are really wide, this one. The cabin suddenly feels like a foreign country. However, the CAs are so polite. They’re coming to greet each person, and I can’t believe it’s an LCC. It’s wonderful. Also, I was thinking, this armrest, or rather the armrest, when you open it up to put your hands, it’s a table, but it’s so thin. Why isn’t the armrest this wide? This part is so spacious. Yes. The menu for the Pleco menu looked like this, and the welcome drink was either champagne or orange, so I got an orange. They have a welcome drink. They also have wine and alcohol. It ‘s not a low-cost carrier at all. They have red wine and white wine. Sparkling wine. They have a wide selection of alcohol. They have cocktails and beer. They have non-alcoholic drinks. It’s a Canadian line, so it’s written in English and French. It came in a glass cup. Amazing. Even in business class, it’s a plastic cup, but Pleco is winning despite being a low-cost carrier. I just noticed this one. It says McCafé. Is it affiliated with McDonald’s ? Oh, it says it. It seems to be the coffee McDonald’s thing at Pleco. Wow, that’s amazing. This is interesting. I love McDonald’s coffee, so I didn’t know I could drink it on board. The orange tastes like it’s from overseas. Yeah. It’s strong and delicious. And as a result of drinking too much of this, I got that sugar urinary incontinence, so I have to be careful. It seems like there are a lot of movies, which is amazing. It’s well-stocked. There are a lot of relatively new ones. I know I should mention the name of someone else, but Zipair doesn’t have a monitor, does it? Even this LCC has one. So, it’s almost time to take off, and I came to take my order for the cabin color, and I chose beef. Everyone seems to choose salmon quite a bit, so it seems like there’s beef left over. Oh, good. I think there’s a lot of beef when there are a lot of Japanese people. I guess it’s salmon because it’s Canada. For example , among American airlines, JetBlue offers coffee at Da Donuts, and Alaska Delta offers all-you-can-drink Starbucks coffee, but WestJet is McDonald’s. This is good. As for juice, it said that you should ask the staff, but they have sweet things like this. I see. Canada is a big deal, so I ordered El Canada Dry. I should have ordered this. I chose Diet Airlines. It was packed to the brim. I think this every time I fly with an American airline. For example, in Japan, this might sound like I’m badmouthing ANA , but even if you get something like this, even if you get a glass, it’s only half full. If it’s a paper cup, it can be even less . I think they probably only put in a little bit because they don’t want it to shake and spill, but well, it’s different in some cases, but in America, it’s always full to capacity. Usually, on airlines that are out of the ordinary, especially in North America, like the US, Americans drink a ton of drinks, so I think that’s why they’re so full. When you go to a MAC in Japan, it’s really tiny. The drinks are unbelievably small. I drink a lot, so I’m really happy. It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve had a foreign, especially American, snack. It’s delicious. Then the main meal came . It’s pretty luxurious. The menu seems to be completely different between Playco and economy, but I chose beef this time, and it was kind of like a stew. The beef was really big . Then there was mashed potatoes with ginger and cornstarch, and some kind of granulated garlic. Then, there was salad, avocado, etc. The bowl is also ice cold. And the bread. The bread is warm. It’s strawberry mousse cake with salt and pepper and yuzu dressing. Amazing. I wonder if it’s made to suit Japanese people? It’s a soy sauce dressing. Yes. As soon as the drinks run out, they come to refill the bread . They also put in disposable chopsticks properly. I’m grateful. This salad is really good. It’s fresh and crunchy, and there’s a lot of celery and avocado at the bottom. I’m eating the yuzu meal, and the mashed potatoes have a really cheesy taste, and there’s quite a lot of crunchy corn sprouts in it, which is delicious. The shichi itself is quite tomato-based, and the tomato sauce is so strong that it’s almost like tomato sauce pasta. Sorry . Maybe that’s a bad analogy. There were several large pieces of beef in it, I just ate two, but there were about five of them. Yes. The quality is really high . Lately, I don’t think that in-flight meals are that tasty, but this is delicious. Maybe it’s because they’ve been using a lot of Chinese food lately, but I thought the quality was really high. Of course, I think this is made at Narita Airport, but the taste is amazing, delicious, easy to eat, and everything is hot, the salad is cold, and the fan is warm and wonderful. The desserts and cakes are also delicious, and each one is big . It’s as voluminous as a business class dessert. It’s delicious. And I just got my after-meal coffee. It came in a proper plaque, but not a cup, but that cup, but the cup at the time felt a bit more like McDonald’s. That taste is really McDonald’s coffee. Well, I love Mac’s coffee, so I drink a lot of it, but I never thought I’d be able to drink it on an airplane. No, I don’t think I’d be happy about something like this. No, it’s interesting. It’s the best. If I’m going to have a McDonald’s coffee on board, I sometimes think that the color of the plane is nice . I wish I could choose. By the way, the toilet in Preco looks like this. It’s been a while since then and I was fast asleep. My second in-flight job started when we were about an hour and a half away from Calgary. I woke up once during the flight, but other than that I was fast asleep. I took that sleeping pill too. I’m still really sleepy now, but I’ll eat for now. This is what my breakfast looks like. Quiche, fruit, and yogurt. It’s very healthy. I was given orange juice to drink. I’d like to get another McDonald’s coffee later. So we’ll arrive in a little over 10 minutes. Entering Canada. It’s been a while. [Music] So it was a long 10-hour ride, but I finally arrived. It smells like a foreign country. It smells like America. I ‘m glad I can see the Japanese government plane in Calgary . So I entered Canada safely. It took quite a while. There were a lot of people there, and there was nothing like that at immigration. It’s pretty crowded. It doesn’t seem to have much to do with this influence. I guess it’s just a lot of fishermen. Immigration, well, this time, I thought it might be strict because of the summit, but there were no questions at all. I didn’t go to the booth in the first place. There were a lot of people and it was really crowded. So, on the terminal, I typed it in myself, printed the receipt, and took it as instructed, and that was it. There was no passport check or questions or anything. Well, I typed it in myself and that was it. Yes. That was the easy immigration process. Anyway, tomorrow morning, I’m going to the US from Cagarley Airport here, so I’ll come back, but now I’m going to the hotel, I booked a hotel near the airport for now , so I’ll go and unpack my luggage. I got it here for 28,000 points for one night, but the hotel directly connected to the airport was 40,000 points. So, it’s a little far away, but the price is higher here, but it was cheaper with points, so I chose this one. Even though it’s cheap, I still have to pay about 30,000 yen, but 90,000 yen for one night at the airport is a bit expensive . I’m glad I had points at times like this. Also, there’s a convention center in the back, so I think it’s probably related to the summit. Um, there are police officers and security people and a place where they do baggage inspections. The hotel is next to it , so the hotel is probably normal, but I think the servants are probably there. Um , the government plane, I could see it a little bit from inside the plane when it landed, but I can’t see it from here . I wanted to see it. Like an over-the-air announcement. Um, I could see a glimpse of the Japanese government plane and the German government plane, but I think there are probably government officials parked here too. Oh well. Anyway, I’m not affiliated with the government at all , so I checked in as if I was just passing by. It’s a relatively small Westin, but the inside is really clean. And, they serve breakfast from 6am, so I think I can eat. My flight is at 9:40am tomorrow , and it’s so close to the airport. I don’t think I need to rush. Yes. There are probably a lot of shops around there, so let’s go there. I was just about to leave the hotel when a policeman came over to me. He asked me what I was taking. I told him I was on vacation, and he said okay, and when I asked him where I was going, he said I was going downtown . Well, that’s normal, but he’s a little on guard. The city is so beautiful. Also, the weather is great. This is the bus stop. It was really small and hard to find. It’s right in front of the hotel. I wonder if they say that it’s okay to take a picture around the hotel? I was suddenly taken over . By the way, Calgary’s bus and tram public transportation is called Calgary Transit , and if you buy a ticket online, a QR code will appear on the app. If you just put that aside, it’s about $11 for unlimited rides. It’s about $3 per ride, so if you’re going to ride more than three times (34 times) , it might be okay, but I’m not sure if I’ll ride that much, but it ‘s too much of a hassle, so I bought the ticket. By the way, I just checked how much it costs to take the lift, and it’s $29 , so it’s about 3,000 yen. So, if you go by car, it takes about 20 minutes. And if you take the bus and tram, it takes an hour. Well, I’ve already bought the ticket, so I’ll take the public transportation for now, but if you don’t have time or are tired, it seems better to go by car. It’s not that expensive. So the bus came. For now, if you take this , you’ll be right downtown, so you don’t have to change trains, so I think you can get there quickly. Even though I say quickly, it will take some time. You have to ride for about 30 minutes. The inside of the tram is very clean. At first glance, I thought it was made in Japan, but it’s Siemens . The person who kindly told me earlier was Nepalese, and the hotel front desk staff were also more like that. And there are a lot of Indian people around the station now. After all, there are not many white people on the trams or buses. Yeah. Even in America, people use public transportation, so you can see the annual income and level of the people. Everyone often says that people who ride buses and subways are often people with low incomes. I think the security situation will get worse as a result . The atmosphere is really nice. Also, this tram runs on that dedicated route, so it doesn’t run on that road, so it’s really fast. It looks like we’ll arrive in no time . It’s fast too. We’ve come to First Street Station. This is a free zone. If it’s a station that says you can get on with the green flag, then if you’re in the green section from here, you can get on for free. That’s why it’s suddenly crowded. The town is so stylish. [Music] I think I’ll go to Calgary Tower, which I can see right in front of me . It’s so stylish. It ‘s like Sydney. The weather is amazing. You can see it already. Calgary Tower. The Marriott Hotel is right next to it. And this is the Hyatt. There’s a Marriott in the center of town. It’s a big city. The sound of the pedestrian traffic lights is the same as in Japan. I didn’t know that. It’s Calgary. It’s the best. It’s super fun. I think this is probably the street where most people come. Let’s go up the tower a bit and see the view, then have a meal around here and have some grau. It’s nice. The atmosphere is great. As I said before, Toyota is strong in North America. Almost all of them are Toyota cars. The taxis are also Toyotas. Let’s go up the Calgary Tower. [Music] Calgary is the city where the Olympics were held. The Calgary Olympics . The Winter Olympics. So I bought a ticket for the Calgary Tower. It’s surprisingly expensive. Oh, about 23 dollars per adult, about 2,300 yen. I think this is the entrance, isn’t it ? It’s the type that you push yourself. So I came here. It’s spacious. There were quite a few people. It’s a pretty spectacular view. I don’t usually climb towers like this, but I’m only in Cali today, so I thought I should do something, and I’m glad I came. It’s probably the most popular tourist spot, but this is the city, and it’s pretty central, too. It’s nice. There’s a place with broken glass on the floor. This is scary. This is pretty scary. That’s the Marriott. I just saw it. Wow, it’s amazing. Well, I just climbed the tower like this, but it’s rare, right? Most of the time I come to places like this, even if there are towers, I don’t climb them, but this time I came. It’s nice that the weather’s nice. Oh, I’m a little hungry now, but I’d like to eat something after this. When you get off the elevator, it’s directly connected to this souvenir shop. The line is open. Well, this sells a lot of souvenirs that are sold everywhere. Yes. Well, there was a restaurant inside. I didn’t go to the observation deck. Right. Um, it didn’t look very tasty. I want to eat something while walking down the main street. I’m pretty hungry, so I want to eat something hearty. Maybe I’ll eat a steak. There were a lot of steakhouses and hamburger restaurants. It’s like America, well, Canada, but as far as I can tell from looking it up online, Calgary is pretty hot. Compared to Toronto and Vancouver, it’s cheaper than the US. Well, it’s the countryside. And, well, you can calculate it as 100 yen to the dollar, so you don’t have to worry about Canadian dollars. Well, it’s in the city center, so it might be expensive . I’m going to Detroit tomorrow, and Calgary seems much more comfortable than Detroit. Maybe it’s because of the summit , but I feel like there are quite a few Japanese people here. I’ve already passed several groups. There are some people wearing suits, so I’m sure they’re on duty. There are quite a few young people here too. I heard Japanese. There are a lot of police cars . I guess it’s for anti-terrorism measures. I’d like to eat something on the terrace at a nice restaurant during the summit . It’s fun just to take a walk there. At first, I was so sleepy that I thought for a moment about not going, but I’m glad I came. From a visual standpoint, too. Also, there’s no smell of Thailand in the city at all. There are people smoking, but even if you don’t smell like Thai, it still feels a little criminal. I guess it’s probably a Japanese TV station that’s doing the interview in Thailand. I can’t drink alcohol myself. People drinking beer in pubs in the middle of the day are happy. I can’t do that. Well, if I’m with someone, I’ll go with them, but I wouldn’t go alone. The police officers who are guarding the area are really cool. They ‘re wearing ten-gallon hats, so I’ll just go into a restaurant around here and eat. I’ll go here, Original Joy’s. So I went into the restaurant. I’ve already ordered a cheeseburger set. I thought the steak was a little expensive, so I gave up. The menu I ordered was a cheeseburger set with coleslaw and truffle french fries, and a zero-calorie drink. They did have a steak, but it seemed like it was a lot, so I gave up. The zero-calorie drink I ordered was really big. It was good. It was satisfying to drink, and it came surprisingly quickly. With the cheeseburger set and coleslaw, you can get some vegetables . I chose the fries with truffle flavor, so they smelled really like truffle. So, I think it was a double-sized cheeseburger with two patties. Well, I don’t know if you can call it Canadian food , but I guess you can’t. But it’s mostly hamburgers around here. It’s either steak, hamburgers or pizza. And sandwiches. Everyone mostly only eats these. I’ll eat this. Yeah. It has a great truffle smell and it’s delicious. Well, if you’ve been living like this for days, you’ll get tired of it, but on the first day, the hamburger is still good. The whole slaw is good . [Music] Let’s eat. It’s huge. Yeah. [Music] It’s meaty. Wow, this is about 30 dollars with a drink . So, well, maybe it’s not that expensive. It’s about the same compared to America. It’s a little cheaper. It’s a little more expensive in America. And the tip. It’s not 15% or 15%. I think now. It’s at least 18 or 20. It’s totally fine. It’s delicious. I feel a little revived. So, the bus was for the main G7 members, It was stopped because the leaders were passing through. So I got on the lift, but the lift was also stopped, and now, a lot of black cars have entered the back like this, and it seems to be from some country, I don’t think it’s Mr. Kishi.
