Yasu: Cloud Sea Parfait! Yuu: Isn’t it a bit too plain for a parfait? Yasu: It’s just cotton candy, haha! Yuu: It’s gone… Yasu: The cloud sea’s gone! Yuu: The cloud sea disappearing is not cool! Yasu: Haha, lol! Yuu: But it’s delicious♪ [Yuu and Yasu’s Hoshino Resort Tomamu: Cloud Sea Challenge] [Cloud Sea Challenge: Round 1] Yuu: 4:45 AM. Yasu: Good morning! Yuu: We’re heading to the Cloud Sea Terrace right now. Yasu: Looks like a lot of people are going too. Yuu: Wonder how it’ll turn out… Will we see it today? Yasu: So exciting! Yuu: Thrilling♪ Yasu: Wow! Crazy! There’s already a huge line! Yuu: The line goes all the way back there… [45 minutes later] Yuu: Good morning! Yuu: We’re on the gondola heading to the Cloud Sea Terrace. Yuu: We’ve come to Tomamu in Hokkaido. Yuu: We woke up super early for this… Yuu: But I’ve got a bad feeling there’s no cloud sea today. Yuu: You can see everything clearly, even the observation deck. Yuu: That’s not good. Yasu: Not good, haha! Yasu: Totally clear view! Yuu: Still, it’s a pretty awesome view as an observation deck. Yasu: Let’s just enjoy the scenery today. [Definitely no cloud sea here] Yuu: Amazing! Yuu: Can you all see it? Yasu: This amazing cloud sea! [Where’s the cloud sea?] Yuu: They say only the pure-hearted can see this cloud sea. Yasu: All I see is clouds! Haha! Yuu: What a fantastic view! Yuu: These mountains covered in a sea of clouds!
Yasu: Wait, is a cloud sea supposed to be green? Yuu: … Yuu: Wow, brave of you to say that out loud… haha. Yasu: So anyway… Yuu: Guess we’ll just take a stroll. Yasu: The view’s still epic, though. Yuu: Wow! The gondola’s diving through the cloud sea! Yasu: Whoa! Haha! Yuu: You’ll have to use your imagination for this one, folks. Yasu: Time to test your creative powers, haha! Yasu: Too much cloud sea, can’t see a thing! Yasu: This is building our creative muscles! Haha! Yuu: Can’t even see the tower hotel we stayed at! Haha! Yasu: Those two white towers up ahead? Totally invisible! Yasu: Haha, lol! [Breakfast Buffet: Nininupuri] At The Tower where we stayed, you can choose from three breakfast venues. Nininupuri is popular for its live French toast station. The seafood rice bowl is pretty tasty too, but… Yuu’s absolute favorite was the udon. Apparently, it was way tastier than expected. Tomamu “The Tower” Room Tour Yuu: What a stunning panorama! Yasu: So gorgeous, you can see everything! Yuu: And that’s the Cloud Sea Terrace. Yasu: Oh, you can see it from here! Yuu: Yup, we’ll check it out from here tomorrow. Yasu: To see if there are clouds or not. Yuu: Being honest, we could see everything today. Yuu: Wanna try again tomorrow. Yasu: It was supposed to be full of clouds, right? Yuu: Clouds? Just clouds… Yasu: Just clouds? Yuu: Nothing but clouds! Yuu: By the way, our room… Yuu: Looks like this. Yuu: The sleeping area is a raised tatami platform. Yasu: Yeah! Super spacious. Dinner Buffet: Buffet Dining Hal Yuu & Yasu: Cheers to a great day! Yuu: Where’s my crab-shelling Yasu for my birthday? Yasu: I looked, but… Yasu: But I might crack one for your birthday, haha! Yuu: Hmm, haha! Yasu: Found him! Yuu: Oh, look, a crab! Yasu: Just one. Yuu: Only one? Yasu: I’ll do one, and if it goes well… Yuu: Hmm… haha! Yasu: Pretty big and legit… Yasu: Even cutting with scissors, it’s super tough… Yuu: Crab-shelling Yasu’s struggling (birthday special in action)! Yasu: This crab’s super sturdy! Haha! Yasu: Bare hands, huh? Yuu: Haha, lol! Yasu: So, how’s my masterpiece? Yuu: Delicious♪ Yasu: I grabbed two of these. Yuu: Chili shrimp? Yuu: Our chili shrimp wins for bigger shrimp, haha! Yasu: Yuu’s chili shrimp is so good. Yuu: It’s just that we buy bigger shrimp. Yasu: I gave you a compliment on camera! Yuu: Just shy, haha! Yuu: How’s the pro chili shrimp? Yasu: Ours is better. Yuu: Oh, come on, you don’t have to butter me up! Yasu: I’m not buttering you up! Not at all! Yuu: Haha, sure you aren’t! Yuu: You’re totally sweet-talking me! Yuu: Sesame? Yasu: Grinding it with a giant bowl! Yasu: A super huge one, haha! Yuu: At least use a small tonkatsu bowl, haha! In Japan, “grinding sesame” means flattering someone (imagine Yasu with a huge grinder!). Yuu: You grabbed some pretty cute ones! Yasu: Wanna eat? Yasu: How about just the bunny ones? Yuu: The bunny’s cute, so I’ll take it! Yasu: I made sure to grab two. Yuu: What’s inside? Yasu: No idea! Yuu: You picked it for the looks, huh? Haha! Yasu: Maybe we should’ve taken the ears off? Yuu: I ate it! Haha! Yasu: It was some kind of leaf. Yuu: A leaf, right? Or like… Yuu: A stem? Yuu: Chlorophyll? Yasu: Yeah, haha! [Cloud Sea Challenge: Round 2] Yuu: Here we go for round two! Yuu: It’s pretty foggy today. Yuu: Looks promising. Yasu: It does, but who knows? Yuu: Wild game?!… Oh, just a deer! Yasu: Wild game?! Haha, it was just a deer! Yuu: So lovely! Yasu: Look at this! Yuu: We’re right in the cloud sea! Yasu: Smack in the middle! Yuu: It’s like boarding a luxury cruise but ending up in a submarine, haha! Yasu: What’s that supposed to mean? Haha! Yasu: Kinda get it, kinda don’t. Yuu: We dove right into the cloud sea. Yuu: It’s like enjoying an aquarium vibe. Yasu: The kind you experience from the inside, haha! Yuu: Not something you do every day, haha! Yasu: Haha, lol! Yuu: Actually, being inside a cloud sea is pretty rare! Yuu: Look, you can really see the clouds here! Yuu: The cloud sea! Look! You can grab it! Yasu: You can hold the cloud sea, haha! Yuu: Wish it was a mix of yesterday and today. Yasu: Yesterday was zero clouds, right? Yasu: Today’s what, 100? Yasu: Zero or 100, huh? Yuu: I’d prefer a 40 to 60 balance, haha! Yasu: Too much effort! Yasu: Cloud sea or no cloud sea… Yuu: We got inside it! Haha!
Yasu: The cloud sea showed up. Yasu: Right in the middle! Haha! [Morning Buffet: Restaurant Mikaku] For our second breakfast, we went to Mikaku, a buffet restaurant in The Tower. It offers a variety of Japanese dishes, like grilled salmon ochazuke. The special dashi broth enhances the fragrant salmon flavor. But, of course, Yuu’s favorite was… Udon. And it was, apparently, way tastier than expected. Yuu: We stayed at Hoshino Resort Tomamu. Yasu: Two nights. Yuu: We enjoyed two nights to the fullest. Yuu: You could probably stay here forever. Yuu: They’ve got shops and stuff. Yasu: It’s huge, with tons of activities. Yuu: There’s a pool and other stuff, I think. Yuu: We totally wasted our hot spring tickets, haha! Yasu: Didn’t make it to the hot spring, haha! Yuu: This morning’s udon was so good! Yasu: So tasty! Sanuki udon, maybe? (Just guessing!) Yuu: Had that Sanuki vibe! (Not that we really know!) Yuu: I had three servings, haha! Yasu: That’s too much! Haha… but it was good, I get it. Yuu: Right? Yuu: So that’s our Hoshino Resort Tomamu Cloud Sea Terrace adventure. Yasu: Cloud Sea Challenge? 快晴すぎた初日を乗り越え、運命の2日目――
雲海は現れるのか、それとも…?!
ふたりの感性で語られる“雲海の世界”は、思わぬ展開へ。
🌅 朝食ビュッフェ「ニニヌプリ」と「ミカク」を食べ比べ、
🦀 ディナーレストラン「hal」ではカニと格闘。
🍜 ゆうは、まさかの“うどん三杯”に大満足。
笑いあり、絶景（？）あり、そしてちょっと予想外の2泊3日。
