Yamanouchi_Mike’s Picks マイクの山ノ内観光ガイド

[Music] Good morning and welcome to Yamanuji. My name is Mike and as the coordinator for international relations, I’ve had the pleasure of living here for the past few months and getting to know the town. You may have heard of this place from the snow monkeys or the Shea Kogan or maybe the various onens in the area, but today I’d like to show some more local, some more subtle spots that I’ve come to know and love during these past few months, such as the views. Here [Music] on the Yumasi River, you could see all the way from Yoko [Music] to Shea. It’s a lovely view and I recommend it highly, especially in the summer. Well, now that we’ve worked up an appetite, let’s go get some soba. Here at this small shop across the river, a young couple’s preserving sunoba, a culinary tradition with nearly 400 years of history. Let’s check it out. Now unlike normal soba, sugakawa soba is made up of buckwheat and a sort of fiber from a local plant which gives it this uh unique freshness and uh bouncy texture that you can’t really get anywhere else. Thank you. Okay. [Music] [Music] [Music] Man, so doesn’t get much better than that. Well, there’s no shortage of great restaurants in the UNAG area. Here are just a few of my favorites that I hope you’ll check out. For an authentic smash burger right by the station, look no further than Archie’s. It’s great. All right. Now, here we go. [Music] Look at that. That right there. Here we have fukuto ramen where they have a somewhat unconventional but nonetheless very delicious flavor. Let me show you some of this. Here we are. My personal favorite, the tomium ramen. [Music] [Music] Located about 10 minutes from the center of town, the Seiki Drive-In is a favorite among locals. Though it may appear a bit unassuming, I promise the flavor speaks for itself. When in doubt, I recommend the Katsu. Delicious. Now that we’ve had our fill of local cuisine, there’s no better time for a walk around town. Let me show you one of my favorite walking courses, a course that displays the unique beauty of rural Yamanuchi. [Music] We’re here about 10 minutes from the station now at one of my personal favorite spots to walk around. With Kosha out in the distance and surrounded by all these apple trees, all this old architecture, you really get a sense of the sort of rural gibliesesque serenity that I love so much about Yamanuji. As you can see, well, you may not be able to tell, but these are all apple trees. And by around uh November, December, you’ll see nothing but apples sprouting all over. I highly encourage you to try one. [Music] We’re up in the hills now near Yumas, and on a day like today, you can get an excellent view of the five peaks of the Hokushin region. Now, I won’t lie, it’s going to take some stamina to get up here, but the good thing about Yamanuchi is there’s always an onen waiting for you. I’ll see you there. [Music] Here we are for the views and atmosphere you just can’t beat to me no. [Music] That feels good. Time to sit back and enjoy the view. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] As long as we’re here in Yulanaka, I’d like to take some time to introduce a special shop beloved by locals and visitors alike. Here at Udanaka in San Purin, they use only the freshest cage-free eggs and it shows with the flavor. Let’s check it out. Here we are inside the store where we find this lovely machine. Now, since it’s 24/7, it’s never too early, never too late to get some deliciousness. Let’s try [Music] give you retro pudding. [Music] It’s just perfect. The balance of the sweet and the bitter. Excellent. Well, it’s been a long and eventful time here in Yamanuchi. There’s so much more to see and do here than you could ever fit in one day. But I’m sure wherever you choose to go, you’ll be greeted warmly. We can’t wait to see you. Now, if you’ll excuse me. [Music] [Music] Heat [Music] up [Music] here. [Music]
