Matsushima Park Parking Lot No. 5 Access Road
Matsushima Town, Miyagi Prefecture I came early and toured each venue. Since the temperature had not yet risen, I went around to the various venues.
It is quite a distance from Ojima in the south, to Matsushima Fish Market in the north, away from the coast, and in the direction of Zuigan-ji Temple. Since the temperature had not yet risen, I went around to the various venues.
It is quite a distance from Ojima in the south, to Matsushima Fish Market in the north, away from the coast, and in the direction of Zuigan-ji Temple. Now, head to Venues A and B via Matsushima Park Parking Lot No. 5 on the south side of town. This is the “Togetsu Bridge” that crosses to Ojima.
Ojima is the place that Matsuo Basho first visited in his “Oku-no-hosomichi”. It is said that there were once 108 rock caves on Ojima, a sacred place known as “Koya in Oshu,” which is a sacred place for the repose of the dead. The stage is located on the north side of the island and can be reached from any side of the branch, but we will try to go from the right side. When viewing the Zazendo and Yorikata monument, the stage is in front and to the right, while the stage is down on the left. The place Matsuo Basho described as “hermitage of grass” is Shogin-an here. This place overlooks the sightseeing pier and the Great Hall of the Godaido.
It is good to relax while listening to the performance. The front of the building is venue C. You can see the “Matsushima Coastal Green Plaza” where many venues are located and the sightseeing pier. Take the path I did not choose at the split and head to Venue B.
This is the easier path. Venue A is not a problem because it finishes one stage early, but if it rains or otherwise gets dark, tunnels like this one add a different kind of fun since the island is a spiritual place. I returned to the Togetsu Bridge. The road in front is to the parking lot you just came from, so turn right. The venue is located near the “Togetsu Bridge,” although it was visible from Ojima. You will find Venue C ahead, so proceed. Matsushima is just in time for hydrangea season. ← Route 45, Matsushima Rikyu→ The “Matsushima Rikyu” where venues D and E are located is just ahead. This is the stage where the performers can avoid the rain, but the front audience area requires rain gear (it is hot when it is sunny).
It is a difficult place to photograph because of the large echoes, the pillars, and the light coming through the garden (always backlit). There is a photo spot called “Lover’s Sanctuary. The rooftop observation deck, which usually charges a fee, was also open to the public. Next, we will head to the main Rock venue, which is just a short walk from Matsushima-kaigan Station on the JR Senseki Line.
It is a tradition for the performers to shout into the station. Next, we will head to venue G, where events sponsored by the management will be held. The stage is a beautiful reflection of Matsushima Bay and the sightseeing boats behind the performers.
The backlighting and sunlight can be harsh. Take measures to compensate for exposure. At the same time as the venue security, a sort of petting corner was taking place. Since the shooting was on the first day (Saturday) and before the start of the stage, there are not many stalls yet. On the second day, three stages dedicated to high school bands will be set up around this area. You will pass under the Sendai Clan’s Matsushima excursion, a relocated wing of Fushimi-Momoyama Castle, and Kanran-tei, a guest house for shogunate bureaucrats, before heading to the sightseeing pier. Kanran-tei“, called ”Tsukimi-goten” (moon-viewing palace), is located on the upper left side. It is the most “typical” place to see the sightseeing pier and Zuiganji Godaido Hall. Head to venue L. The store “Uminekoya” is located there. Head to the most northerly venues M and N. (except for the following)
Venue O – The Museum Matsushima Tohoku Idol Festival in Matsufes The “Tourist Time” event will be held here, and sponsors will be giving away gifts to visitors. Enjoy the stage while you shop. The location has jumped and we are now on the street with the entrance to Entoin and Zuiganji temples.
Venues I and J are located here. This is one of the private residences where the Kako-syu who operated the Gozasen-ship lived as a group. Passing through the entrance to Zuiganji Temple, we will head to the final venue.
This walking route will take you to the seaside in the center of Matsushima, Zuiganji Temple, Entsuji Temple, and many other places of interest. It will take about an hour while taking pictures.
It will be a short stroll, so please use it as a reference for sightseeing in Matsushima. We hope you enjoyed it. See you later ( ^_^)/~~~~
