室生寺より古い歴史を持つ水の神、竜神を祀る神社。平安時代には朝廷から雨乞いの使者が遣わされたといわれ、雨乞いの神としても知られています。
This shrine, which enshrines the dragon god, the god of water, has a history older than that of Muroji Temple. It is said that during the Heian period, messengers were sent from the imperial court to pray for rain, and it is also known as the god of rain.
