Parque España and Suzuka Circuit – So Many Parks 173 | 志摩スペイン村パルケエスパーニャと鈴鹿サーキット

What’s up guys? Welcome back to So many parks of a little time or as I like to call it Shaman Pasanto. So today, oh my goodness, I am excited. We are at Park Espa at Shima Spain village in Shima, Japan. Now this is a park that lots of coaster enthusiasts want to go to, but it’s a little bit out of the way. It’s really difficult to get to from the central Shinkan Sunline area. But the one reason why people want to come here is for this right here, Pyrenees. It is a gigantic B&M inverted roller coaster and it’s just sort of out here in the middle of nowhere. As such, this is absolutely the reason why we are here today. Other than the coaster, I actually don’t know too too much about the park. I do know that they have um mock rides mine train coaster as well as an indoor coaster and a couple of dark rides, some very obscure ones at that. So, I’m curious to see what this park’s offerings are. Uh Pyrenees doesn’t open until 11:00, so we’re going to check out some of the other park stuff first. So yeah, it’s uh not raining right now. It’s not supposed to rain at all at the moment. And who knows, we might actually have another park right after this one. So with that, let’s go check out Park Espa. [Music] Is this a Spain theme park? Huh? So when you walk it’s just gorgeous. You walk down the side all the workers. [Music] I am a sucker for theme parks. I come up with their own theme song. [Music] Yeah. Pizza. Awesome. [Music] There’s the indoor pest. Yeah, that’s the that was closed when I was here last. Wow. He needed to come. Okay, I have no idea. Okay, so we started the day off on Iron Bull. First of all, how is a bull themed roller coaster at Park Espa not called El Toro? Second of all, the coaster it’s uh it’s not very good. It’s a height of a family coaster, but it has over- the-shoulder restraints, which do not bode well for the really really sharp and janky turns on this thing. I do like how they went all out on the theming and tried to make this a super immersive Disney-like experience. At the same time, it doesn’t quite work because in the middle of the ride, it comes to a complete stop and then it builds up this anticipation. It’s like these boilers are overflowing, over pressuring, and something big is about to happen and it goes three 2 one and you slowly roll forwards into the second chain lift. It is a very weird ride, but uh not a good one. Oh, this is like uh what’s it? A Park Gell at uh Barcelona. Yeah. Is this like Park Gell? Yeah. Gal Plaza. I’ve been there. So, according to the signs outside, Pyrenees is supposed to open at 11:00. So, we got an hour and a half to uh knock out the entire park and then it’s going to be Pyrenees, Pyrenees, Pyrenees. Uh there was news that day that was um Did you not do that thing last time? No. I I Okay. I don’t know what I don’t know what that is. It’s got to be Oh, no. That’s This is a fresh coat of yellow. [Music] Uhoh. [Music] So, Kitty Monseratada. That’s a cute little kitty coaster. It’s built by another Japanese manufacturer. This one, the turns are not so much janky, but they do kind of throw you around a little bit. Just a little bit. But otherwise, it’s a relatively smooth ride. And yeah, I enjoyed it. This one is also monster, doesn’t it? That one’s Monster. This is a monster. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. I think so. Oh, wow. So, Grand Monserat was nothing at all like I was expecting. It’s a very rare mock rides mine coaster, but when you think mine coaster, you think like a Arrow or Vekoma. Well, this is nothing like it. This one just rips through its course and it’s very, very heavy on the positive G’s. It’s super smooth, but also has a bite to it. It’s powerful. I love the way it weaves in and out of the mountain. Some of the clearances are just beyond ridiculously tight. Overall, just a completely surprising roller coaster. And yeah, we are going to ride it again. [Music] Ooh, I like this. [Music] It’s a haunted house. [Music] Oh, it might be shooting. Might just be a shooting. Oh, shoot. Oh, shoot. It’s shooting. [Music] Dude, you’re shooting with a crossbow. That’s awesome. That’s pretty funny, too. Heat. Heat. [Music] Shoot his crunch. [Music] [Music] So that uh shooting dark ride that we just did, that was legit. It felt kind of like a miniature lower budget Men in Black, but for a regional park, it turned out really, really good. I love the amount of targets you have, the amount of animatronics. The shooting aspect was really accurate. Super easy. It was very easy to just rack up points. Overall, just a really, really fun, unexpected dark ride. I remember seat belts. [Music] So, we did splash monsat and uh I got a little bit wet. Nothing too major. At least my shoes stayed dry. But yeah, it’s a very fun little log flume. Does everything that I want in a log flume. It’s a very relaxing jaunt through the woods. You got a good view at the top before the first drop and then just a right amount of wetness where it doesn’t completely soak you and ruin your day. Really enjoyed that flume. Ice town ice clown. Well, let’s see. I don’t know. Am I going to get sick? Well, I can’t basically have these. It seems like they have these attractions because Oh boy. This is already You’re going to love this. Okay, we are in the ice house. – 20° one. Yeah. Oh man, this is like a freezer cell. Oh my god. Oh no. No. Oh no. It’s too cold. Oh jeez. It’s getting colder. This is gross. I can’t breathe. Thumbs up. I can’t breathe. [Music] It’s cold in here. It does exactly as advertised. Okay, that’s enough of that. Okay. Okay, back into the heat. Oh, it’s too hot. Weird. I love it. It’s definitely alive because they switch. Oh, really? Oh, this is adorable. I love this. It’s on me. [Music] There’s the building. Holy Yeah. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Yeah, but these buildings every 5 minutes they play this Spanish thing and you can dance on it and it’s just all these lights, everything. It’s really cool. Holy cow, look at this. This looks like a Montipython holy grail. It’s got to be done in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father make a circle. So maybe maybe I’m wrong. 19. Oh, see they just heard us. Oh, wow. Oh, this is like a ride. Oh, they don’t have a pull. Oh, this is good. At least it doesn’t take 5 minutes like uh at Universal Studios. Oh my god, it takes forever. And you’re dealing with mass crowds. Yes. One day all of our extra stuff, but if it just goes outside, no, it’s not working. Whoa. That’s the building that they used to go in. That’s a shame. Save the seals. [Music] Something where they have turned to go in. They didn’t back there. See, you can see the Yeah, you would have went in there. [Music] Yeah. Like on the ramen road. I got you. Is that a dark ride? Yeah. Final ride. Oneful journey. Yep. [Music] It’s only a m [Music] [Music] Guess you too can have fun by being bored. A sure party. Hey, I’m got some Pokemon on the wall. Museum. What’s this ride? Nothing. It’s just a walk thing. Yeah. Oh, this looks good. This looks adorable. I mean, they can take the story now. I don’t know why I think, [Music] which makes me lowkey excited for their dark ride quality here. I’m actually pretty excited. It’s like a Disney park with pyramids. Yeah. It’s like a land Disney. [Music] Dude, the dark rides here are awesome. We just did this Peter Pan type ride and I was just completely blown away by the quality of it for a regional park uh out in kind of the middle of nowhere. The animatronics are impressive. The ride system is seriously impressive and then the story is just cute and adorable and all the animatronics working in tandem. This is a fantastic ride. Really, really enjoying my time here at the park and we haven’t even ridden Pyrenees yet. All right, let’s go back to Escalator Land. It’s my buddy. [Music] Okay, it’s 11:00. Riding for Pyrenees. We have no clue if it’s actually open or not, but here’s open. Sign at the entrance is gone. Good gravy. This looks insane. [Music] I I feel like they didn’t have anybody Right. Cuz I was really long between when they got Oh, [Music] nice. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Got it. Yeah. [Music] [Music] [Music] Dude, Pyrenees is awesome. Easily one of the best inverted roller coasters that I’ve been on. This thing is a powerhouse. I grade out so many times in the first half of the ride. And this ride has a really, really long first half. I love how it combines the best of Batman the ride, Raptor, Montu, it’s all there. The entire opening sequence is just element after element after element in rapid secession just pummeling your body with positive G forces. The uh first half is just absolutely flawless. no notes whatsoever. That alone made it easily one of my favorite B&M inverts. After the midcourse break, it does kind of uh meander a little bit. Just a little bit. Yeah, this coaster is kind of known for how at the very end of the ride, there’s this really long awkward bit of straight section, but it does lead into one element where you actually get some floater air time, which is pretty rare for a B&M invert. And then the ride is just long. It goes on for a lengthy lengthy time. All of that wrapped together. It’s not quite my favorite B&M inverted coaster, but it is a really, really good one and it’s probably up there probably top two or three. Absolutely worth the journey coming out here. [Music] For real. [Music] So excited. I’m going to take a bunch of food here. That’s going to be another one. There’s a bus stop right here. Oh, there’s a vending machine. So, that was Park Espña at Shima Village, Spain. Dude, this was such a fun day. This was such a surprise of a park. I love it when we come to a park for one thing and then the park just demonstrates so many cool things about why it’s very much worthwhile visit. Along with Pyrenees, the other roller coasters range from excellent from the Mine Train to uh kind of laughable like Iron Bowl. But what this park really shines at are its dark rides. Dude, the dark rides here are fantastic. And there’s multiple of them, too. Overall, there’s just something for everyone here. I would love love love for them to get another high thrill roller coaster. Something that will just complement Pyrenees really, really well. Get those enthusiasts to really come out here and experience this park. And yeah, while it is kind of difficult to get out here, the entire journey is just beautiful. So yeah, I wholeheartedly encourage you come visit Park Espa ride Pyrenees. It is absolutely worth it. So we’re on our way to another park and you know the drill. I’m just going to do the 3 2 1 and we’re all right here. So we are now at Suzuka Circuit and what’s awesome is that this park wasn’t even on the original itinerary. Originally we saw it and we’re just like uh it looks pretty cool but uh we’re probably not going to make it. But then we uh really really crunched some numbers and saw that if we combined this with Park Espña, we could actually fit this park in. And not only do they have roller coasters, they actually have a couple very unique ones. They have this ride called GP Racers. It’s a legit dual track racing roller coaster. And then they also have Dual GP, which is this kind of test track looking thing, but it allows you to drift. And then it has adventure drive, which is super unique in that it has a couple tire drive launches that the speed of the launch is actually influenced by how loud you scream. And then they got just a regular jet coaster here, too. And it’s all at the world famous Suzuka racetrack. So, there’s just this really hot racing theme and just this wild atmosphere here. So, let’s start our engines. Let’s check out Suzuka Circuit. [Music] A big map. Yeah, that thing is huge. Okay. [Music] Oh wow. There’s actually uh just missed it, but there are actually cars driving on the racetrack. That is sick. I’ve seen sometimes it’s a wonder [Music] [Music] Hello. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Come on. Let’s go. [Music] Woohoo! Yeah! Woo! Okay, [Music] [Music] That was terrible. So, we did GP racers and that was not good at all. I love the concept of it. I love these motorbike cars that you’re racing alongside your friends, but jeez Louise, those transitions are just terrible. Especially if you’re in the back, it just smashes your legs around like crazy. Gives your head some whiplash. In the front, it’s not quite as bad, but holy mackerel, that is not a good coaster. Like I said, love the concept. Just terribly, terribly flawed ride. [Music] Look at all the gallery. [Music] Yeah. Okay. [Music] Oh, that’s over here. [Music] Test truck on steroids. Needs a drip. Oh, heck yeah. [Music] I mean, I can see it just like a power coaster. [Music] Dude, Dual GP was freaking awesome. Now, this ride, it’s very, very unique. The closest thing I can attributed to is a test track, except you’re given a steering wheel, which gives you control of how you drift around the corners. You have to position the steering wheel just right into the turn so that you get the smooth spin, and if you overdo it, then it sends you spinning out of control. It’s a lot of fun. And then you uh race against your friends as well. It’s just a Oh man, this is exactly the type of ride that I had wished GP Racing was. Now the question is, is it a roller coaster? No, I do not think it is a roller coaster. Some people in our group counted as a powered coaster. More power to them. It’s not a roller coaster from me. Still my favorite ride in the park. [Music] Are you [Music] This has a backwards card. Yes, I’m going to go backwards. You have to pay extra for it, maybe. Heat. [Music] Everything. Ladies and gentlemen, please [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] What the hell? [Music] [Music] [Music] Oh, so Rocky Coaster was actually pretty fun. It’s definitely a shaky shaky ride. Funnily enough, you can ride it both forwards and backwards. And the backwards part we actually thought was pretty smooth. Party got forwards ride. He wasn’t as impressed as a kind of a concept. It’s really fun taking the ride backwards. It is what it is. It’s just a jet coaster, but holy cloud, but it’s a coaster credit. I’m glad we rode it. We had fun. Very cool. I I was at a museum in Columbus working. Okay, let’s hunt some crystals and hope we don’t have to wear helmets and go spelunking here. Oh, it’s imposter. Oh, it’s just like the one we did today. Oh, sick. So, we did the shooting dark ride, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s the exact same ride system as it is at Park Espa. However, unlike Park Espa, this one was nowhere near as good. The one at Park Espa, he actually had some forward backward motion and then it had some very intricate animatronics. This one though, it had no additional movement and completely static sets. So yeah, it wasn’t the best experience, but you know what? It was fun. The guns are still easy to shoot and targets are easy to hit. You can just rack up more and more points. It’s a good ride. I enjoyed it. Ya. [Music] Hi. Eat us. Eat us. Bye-bye. This kind of reminds me of like the showcase rooms at Ferrari World in Ferrari Land. Yeah. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat up [Music] [Music] here. Heat [Music] up [Music] Heat [Music] up [Music] here. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] guy. I mean, yeah. Thank you. So, unfortunately, we just got confirmation that Adventure Drive, the scream powered roller coaster, is not going to be open today. Apparently, it’s not working. And with only 45 minutes left of the park, it don’t predict that it will be ready in time before the end of the day. Truly a shame to miss such a unique roller coaster. And I mean, come on. We just want one day where everything goes according to plan. But for such a complicated schedule going between a parka to here back to Nagoya, I’d say we did pretty darn well. Okay, let’s ride the fake coaster credit. It’s the guy. Where are your eyeballs or your [Music] kind of scary? Probably a safety video. Must be a credit. Yep. [Music] credit. And there’s uh there was even a brake pin right there, too. [Music] Nope. Once you make your choice, you’re married to it. Oh, no. Whoa. Yeah, here comes the credit part. That is great. [Music] Would argue your heart rate is incredible. Oh, absolutely. Oh, maybe a closer count. [Music] Whoa. Woo. Okay, that is almost a credit. Oh, it’s not 50%. This is going to be the ride that breaks the enthusiast community. Well, I’m going to argue about it. Yes. I mean, it I it is very questionable because there is gravity and it does coast for a little bit. I’m not going to count it. Neither am I. You are an evil little snail. I lost your family and your dreams. [Music] We need a bus. Oh, you guys want. [Music] So that was Suzuka Circuit as well as Park Espa. And dude, we had such a great day today. Suzuka Circuit was a lot of fun. The park was completely dead. We had practically the entire place to ourselves. We didn’t have to wait in line for anything. Whilst the rides were hit or miss, man, the hits were good. Dual GP is a fantastic ride. I so wish that more parks could incorporate something like that. And then, yeah, the park is just fun to walk around. I love the racing vibe as well as sort of the cutesy stuff for children as well. Along with your usual abuse me rides, there are a bunch of really creative rides that you can participate in. There’s like go-kart attractions, bike racing, all that neat stuff. So, there’s a lot to do and you could easily fill half a day, especially if the park is as empty as it was today. Man, that was a great adventure. We got up super early, got down to Park Espa, back to Suzuka Circuit, now we’re on our way back to Nagoya. So, looking forward to more awesome adventures. Thank you guys so much for watching. I’ll see you in the next one. We’ll see what park we’re at. Take care. Engines pumping and thumping in time. The green light flashes. The flags go up. Churning and burning. They yearn for the

The Shinkansen is such a reliable way to navigate parks across Japan, but it’s time for us to venture away from this major artery. Down on the Mie Prefecture, past Ise Bay and a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean is Shima Spain Village, a large resort themed to… well… Spain! The resort is home to the Parque España theme park. Coaster enthusiasts know the park for its massive B&M inverted coaster Pyrenees, but the park is so much more than that, featuring a very impressive collection of dark rides. With the park in the bag, we raced back up the coast to hit up Suzuka Circuit. A world-famous Formula 1 course, this racetrack also features an attached theme park with some quirky rides. This was very much the type of day that you can only experience in Japan.

This is So Many Parks, So Little Time; a series where I document the many amusement parks I stop by this summer. Join me for some fun times, some great people, and of course the coasters.

  1. Great Park. Great vlog. I just spent my day watching your Japan Vlogs. I hope that you have more to come!

  2. I really want to go to the Park for Gran Monserrat. It has the same trains as the old version of Eurosat, from before the 2018 refurbishment. I just have a lot of nostalgia and I want to re-experience what Eurosat felt like, and that is tge closest thing we have to it. (Oh and also Spatiale Experience at Nigloland)

  3. It’s a shame that their “pirates” ride closed down a few years ago. It was quite spectacular – right up there with “Pirates of Bavaria” and POTC!! And the Bull coaster?? Ugh. Love the Monty Python reference!! And, you’re absolutely right – their dark rides are as awesome, as they are quirky/fun!
