Tosa Tea Roasting Experience #shorts

A Brew as Balanced as You 🍵

Nestled in the mountains of Hidaka village lies an unexpected field of tea leaves. We found ourselves in Kiriyama Cha-en to see first hand how they harvest tea and even made our own brew.

At Kiriyama they cultivate what many know as Sen-cha, and though roasted slightly we were able to try with our own hands to make Hoji-cha in three distinct profiles.

From a light roast to dark roast, you’ll first taste a sample of each to see which flavor fits your exact pallet (we went with a medium roast, a mild soothing flavor with some caffeine left to give you an energy boost).

Using a tried and true ceramic pan (all hand made) to gently roast the tea leaves, timing was key to get the right roast. We got the hang of it by the end, and boy did we want to keep going!

A mix of relaxation and concentration one can only really find by meditating, we roasted tea leaves and even decorated a can for the tea leaves, using one of the many styles provided by Kiriyama Cha-en.

A one of a kind experience in a one of a kind location, the roads leading up to Kiriyama Cha-en are long and windy but the whole experience is worth immersing yourself in.
