五色浜の甌穴(おうけつ) Giant’s kettles 京都府京丹後市 Kyotango Kyoto JAPAN [San’in Kaigan UNESCO Global Geopark]【字幕】
Goshikihama is located in the Shione area of Amino-cho, Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture. Goshikihama is a rocky area dotted with strange rocks that were formed by erosion by waves over a long period of time. You can also see many potholes on the wave-cut terrace. A large, deep circular hole that forms on the surface of a rock is called a pothole. A pothole is also called a “giant’s cauldron.” Here’s how potholes are formed: If there is a crack or weak part on the surface of a rock, it will become a depression due to erosion by water currents and waves. Pebbles and sand get into this depression. The waves and water currents swirl, and the pebbles rotate inside them, starting to carve the rock. This action is repeated over a long period of time, causing the holes to get bigger and rounder. The potholes are like works of art created by the power of nature over tens of thousands of years. BTW, the sea surface is stained a poisonous reddish brown. This is a large number of marine plankton called Noctiluca scintillans. Along the coast of the Sea of Japan, Noctiluca scintillans occur in large numbers during the period when the water temperature rises from spring to summer. At night, Noctiluca scintillans glow pale blue due to physical stimuli such as ship wakes and waves, creating a fantastic beauty. Please take a look at the video by Kyotango YouTuber “Bura Tango TV” to see what it looks like. I’ve included a link at the end. This is part of the San’in Coast Geopark. San’in Coast Geopark is an area facing the Sea of Japan in the west of Honshu, and is made up of Kyotango City in Kyoto Prefecture, Hyogo Prefecture, and Tottori Prefecture. It was registered as a Japanese Geopark in 2008 and a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2010. The underlying theme of the geopark is “geology, natural environment, people’s lives, and the formation of the Sea of Japan.” This area captures the process from the time when Japan was part of the Asian continent to the formation of the current Sea of Japan from various geological perspectives.

Congratulations, amazing images, well done
Great sharing 🙂🔥
Beautiful ❤
Fantastic, my friend 🙂
Wow,awesome drone footage my friend, thanks for sharing, have a lovely day 😊❤

Awesome 💯😊

Beautiful place, the rocks rising out of the sea are amazing. 😊I believe those potholes are teeming with interesting coastal life…🤔 Btw, your drone piloting is admirable. 👏👏👏
This is great video shoot❤. Thank you for sharing ❤ have a good day ❤.
