What is this? This time, I’ll introduce a strange road. This channel focuses on Boso, and this time I’m going to Ibaraki, and introduces old roads, abandoned roads, tunnels, bridges, and other road-related things. I update it irregularly, but about a few times a week, so if you’re interested in this kind of story, please subscribe to the channel and set notifications, and you’ll be able to watch the latest videos without missing them . To be honest, this is a serious B-class spot. The road I’m going to introduce next is called Sashiroyama Tourist Road, but it’s hard to explain what’s strange about it. Judging from the name of the road, I guess it’s a road prepared for tourists, but I’m not sure if it’s a promenade for people to walk around and enjoy, or even a road for cars to drive on. Currently, vehicles are not allowed on the road, but I have no idea what the concept was for it to be built originally. The road is half-finished. By the way, it’s a strange design even as a cycling road. Also, the structures along the way are slightly strange. Anyway, here’s a map of the area. This is also strange , isn’t it ? It doesn’t feel like a mountain road with a well-maintained tourist road. I have no idea where to go or how to get there. For now , I’ll highlight the tourist road with a blue line. It really is a strangely shaped road, isn’t it? In the video, I’ll show you my current location on the map with the blue line from time to time. This time, I’ll start from the parking lot on the north side. By the way, the road is strange, but the ruins of Kasama Castle that remain on the summit of Mt. Sashiro are valuable and magnificent. Kasama Castle was built in the early Kamakura period, and during the time of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, it was developed into a modern castle with stone walls and a castle tower by Gamo Gosei, a military commander who was the chief retainer of the famous Gamo Ujisato. Of course, I will also introduce the remains of the castle ruins this time . By the way, I first learned about this road from the famous “Yamagyo ga” article. When I saw the article, I just thought “That doesn’t make sense,” and then forgot about it . However, later, when I was checking out the few tunnels in Ibaraki, I noticed it again , and when I actually came to the site, it was much more than I had imagined. It was a strange road, more than I can describe. I wonder how many times I’ve used the word “strange” so far. Anyway , it’s not the kind of badness that can be explained by things like shabby, useless, or wrong. It’s definitely a B-class spot. So, if you feel like it, I’d like you to come and experience this strangeness for yourself. Then, you might understand why I said it was so strange. Of course , even if you understand my feelings, it won’t benefit you a penny. However, I think that there are many points that people who like B-class spots will enjoy. So , I have arrived at the moment. Hello, this is Papageno, a little old thing on the road. Thank you for watching, commenting, and liking as always. Today, I am in Kasa City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Well, this is the medieval purification site, and above it, there is that castle, but there seem to be a few other interesting things besides the castle, so I would like to take a look at those today. Thank you. [Music] Actually, it seems that it’s early to go here to head to the white ruins. A few other people have been here for a while, but everyone, head towards the castle from here. I’m on the way, but this road is called a tourist road. It’s the guidance of the monk, but vehicles are not allowed on it. It seems better to go that way than this way, so I’ll go that way for now. Even when I looked at the topographical map of the country, I couldn’t understand the roads, but when I looked at this map, I was able to get the whole picture. My current location is here, but for now I think I’ll go this way and that way. Yes, vehicles are not allowed on this side either. There were mosquitoes buzzing around just now, so I’m glad I brought insect repellent with me. It was helpful. Actually, today I was thinking of going further in, but then when I woke up in the morning , there seemed to be a huge traffic jam around my neck, so I asked Google, and it told me to go to Kendo , so I went to Kendo. It became clear that it would take a lot of time, so I gave up. I wondered where I was, but I have a map of the exploration area for myself, and as I was looking at it here and there, I wondered what it was, and then I found it, so I came here. I wonder where it is ? Up ahead, there seem to be traces of the stone walls from the old Nokaku era, so I think I might check those out if I can. Ah , maybe it’s here? Um , ah, no, no, no, there , there, there, there, there . This is probably the remains of the stone walls that Gamoshi built. I see , it seems like the road is going down, and if I go down, I’ll have to go up again. Well, I’m not going. Anyway, the uphill part is harder in a way, but it helps. When I think about the way back, I just keep going down, but it was around here. There was a place like that, and I ‘ll start climbing from there. The tourist road just goes downhill, but the castle is this way . It’s getting pretty hot now, so let’s not push ourselves too hard. But it’s definitely this ratio. It really makes you realize that there is a path in Zurakande Mochi as well. Let’s take a quick peek. It continues on and on, it’s like a fragrant road, but once you start going there there’s no fog, I’ll stop. Recently I’ve been watching more videos of Yamamori and Rokechihon, but actually today I was thinking about going to the temple that appeared in Trick a while ago. Then, before I left home I looked it up on Google Maps and it seems that it was demolished just a few months ago. I should have gone when I could. The building was in a terrible state, so that was the point, but I guess it was because it was dangerous that it was demolished. What was it called? It’s a temple, something like that, but they’re building things, so let’s take it slowly, let’s take it slowly. As the saying goes, “virtue is a nuisance,” but what is the meaning of life? They say that we walk a long path carrying a heavy burden on our shoulders, and that is absolutely true. What on earth is it that virtue can talk about a hiking course like this in the same breath as the life of Jesus? English: I wonder what it is, I ‘m almost there. It feels like if we go up there we’ll arrive. I wonder if this is also the remains of a stone wall. Now , I took a photo of the map from earlier, so I checked it, and it doesn’t seem to be the remains of a stone wall. I can’t even tell the mark, so it might be a new discovery. No, while I was saying that, it seems we have arrived. We must have arrived , right? I’d like to think that we have arrived, but there is something that looks like an abandoned building over there. What is it? Shall I go and take a look ? There is a path , but there’s nothing there. But this is a path. No, let’s go up for now. Um, which way is that? Or is it something else? There are no fences here at all. No, of course I’m sure there used to be fences, but I always complain about this in the mountains, but since the energy revolution in the 1950s, these kinds of village trees have grown uncontrollably, and I feel like maybe up until about 500 years ago, the fences around here were quite good. This is also the path going down, and there is still a bench over there,ら見てくださいねーわ English: There might be one. What? Oh, there are all sorts of roads and mountains on the Kanto Freiheit, but I don’t know them all. This is this, how do you read it? What is it Kasagi Hattadai ? I forgot. They say it’s after something, but there’s nothing there. Let’s get off here. Oh, is that a guide sign? A big guide board. Without it it’s a bit difficult to find places like this . Yes, yes, yes, there it is. This looks like Yoko-kun’s painting but it’s not. Yoko-kun’s painting is better, or maybe it’s an old painting so I don’t know it right now. Well, let’s go a little further next. Customer boss, for now, it’s this way. What do you call it? I think we’ll start by eliminating the places that look like they’ve already reached their destination. Is this stone monument Hisematsu? Is it read Otakazu? I’m not sure. Let’s go. That’s the road we came down from earlier, so ok, we’ve conquered everything here. Okay, so next, I saw this strange cobblestone pavement in front of me. Isn’t this, that? It’s a dobashi, isn’t it? Yes, this is a cut-off excavation, probably. So it’s a cut-off excavation and a dobashi , so what is above this? There must have been some important facility there , um , what was it? I wonder if there was Kasagi Tente? So are there any remains of Tente-dai or something? Ah, ah, that’s Tente-dai, right? No, no, don’t rush there. I want to enter from here, but I can’t enter here . So this must be a fairly old type of stone wall, how should I put it? It looks roughly made, or rather crudely constructed, so I wonder if this type of stone wall is an early one? I feel like I’m saying something completely careless, but this area is too far away. If it’s not the truth, I’ll correct it with a caption. It’s dangerous due to the effects of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Yes, I see, there is a shrine up ahead, isn’t it? Right now , but you want me to worship here. So, how many years ago was the Great East Japan Earthquake? That was 14 years ago But it’s okay Let’s follow the instructions of the authorities and pray here So for now let’s go back to that square-like place from before These steps are certainly dangerous But even the slanted ones seem to be firmly fixed in place so if you step properly it’s not so scary I noticed recently that if you get carried away and go down these stone steps, it hurts your feet, it hurts your knees I don’t think it used to be like that Yes, I’ve come back this far I just checked the map and it seems like this is where the main castle was No it’s not This is where I climbed up earlier Um which way did I come from So the tourist road stretches out from here and this tourist road is kind of… English: The bubbles are going around and around, but I want to go to all of them, but I ‘ll skip them and go this way. On this side, there is that, oh damn, I forgot, I forgot, um, you can’t get off here, it’s dangerous, it’s dangerous, I almost forgot one, I probably have to go back, um, where is it, do I have to climb up here again, it was up here, I think I completely forgot about it earlier and passed it by, I came back to this bad accounting office again, it ‘s probably around there, it’s almost nearby, it should be in the vicinity, what was it, oh it’s this, Hiichi Higashi Sankaku store, Hakusan, for detailed data, please look around here, round and round, have you seen it, if you haven’t seen it yet, please stop, um, it’s over here, let’s go next, I’ll make an excuse for now, in the sky, it seems to be near the observation deck It was written on it , and apparently this was that thick area but it was an observation deck. Really, really, I thought there must be a more observation deck-like observation deck somewhere else, um, how should I put it, it seems to be over there in the mangi area, and there’s an observation deck with an angel horn cloud, I somehow thought there might be something like that, but I was wrong. So then over here , I thought it might be around where we turn from here, but no, that’s not a stone wall, is it? It’s stone writing on the stone wall, but it’s modern, Oh, right, here, here, there, there, a tunnel appears, it’s under the moat from before, I see, so um, this is also the original excavation stage, aah it continued like this, I see, the back here is the excavation stage Well, let me introduce it again. It’s a ball tunnel. Well, it’s a tunnel like this, but it’s a proper tunnel. It’s a hat tunnel. Cars can’t go through this after all. Well, you can go through, but you can’t let cars go through here. There’s something written on it, but it says it’s scary. What’s this? If there’s something like this, it’ll become a ghost tunnel. Kyoko Yoshi, yes, yes, it’s a strong girl. She’s only written about strong girls. It’s not the person who writes this kind of thing here, is it? There’s a cat called Neko Michiko, but it’s a nuisance for Samichiko too. Is it a road? See, it’s flying around in this place, can you see it? Is it on the screen? Since earlier, it’s flying around my face, flying around my head. But, at least I wasn’t bitten because of the effect of that bug spray. It’s like, get up … Ah, the lighting isn’t even plugged in anymore , so it’s a ball-drop tunnel. I see, so let’s make the tunnel go under the moat. I see, this has a modern feel to it, and it does feel a bit like a train. I’ve never added a tunnel before, but I would have liked the tunnel itself to be a bit more elaborate, but I guess that’s not the case. Anyway , shall we go? Should I just go down like this? What do you think ? Well, there’s a tunnel over there now, but we’ll go this way. Oh, I see. So that’s around there, that’s the main castle we were talking about. It’s the road on this side, and if you go up here you’ll come out at the main castle we were talking about, and then we’ll go down here. Now, here, actually, I was on that mini report with Ki-ren, but he only went through that tunnel and this point ahead, but I went a little further. I added it, but there’s no point in doing that anyway, but up ahead there was the point that Yokishi paid the most attention to, or maybe he came down too far, yeah, that’s probably it, which means it doesn’t qualify, this is troublesome, so I’ll warp here for a bit , I guess I climbed back up a bit, here we come down from the main castle from before, and up ahead is apparently the point that Yokishi paid the most attention to here, so let’s go, Jan-ko, a mysterious roundabout has appeared, I didn’t understand what it meant when I saw it in a photo, and even now it’s certainly strange, what it is is a flat loop, so it came down from the other side, and then it goes around that loop and comes down on that side, It seems to be structured like that, basically, the curves here are, how should I put it, too sharp, so it goes around like this and then loops like this, and that ‘s the way it’s structured. It’s true that cars would want to do that on this road, but with vehicles banned like they are now, it’s a structure that makes it completely meaningless, so let’s take a look. I see, it goes down like this, and by the way, this is where I came down from the tunnel a while ago, it was around there, I came down here and thought oh no, and started climbing again from there, so the route is that the main castle is over there, and then you go down like this, go around here, go over there, and then it goes all the way up, I think that’s how it goes. But there’s another road that continues into the tunnel over there. You go up from the tunnel, go to the main castle, look at the Tente side, then go down from the main castle and go back like this. I feel like I’m finally getting a grasp on the relative positions of the roads around here. I thought I kind of got it just now , but I didn’t get it yet. So, that’s fine, let’s go on here. There’s also this “U” here, and it’s properly banked. And you come in like this, or rather, “Well, this is no flat course, is it? What’s going on here ? Ah, we’re going over there anyway, so let’s take a look over there. What’s it like under here ? Ah , but the tire control, it looks like a tire with quite deep tread. And yes, that’s the road that continues to the tunnel. For a moment, I went full circle. So over there is the flat loop we saw earlier and there used to be a bridge from below. I thought I’d go and see what it was like there earlier and it was a bridge. Is this behind the stone wall too? It’s behind the stone wall. So we’re almost there. On the way back , this is also an excavation. I see. This place itself is more like a dug-out than a bridge, I guess it was filled in when the road was being developed. So , this is the remains of a main road . It’s a stone wall. We’re not allowed to go in. This stone wall over there is stacked in a more beautiful way than the stone inscription at Tenju we saw earlier . But maybe that’s because the stones are smaller. I see. That’s right, that’s right , that’s right, um, so this was the Otemon Gate, right? Well , if you just check it out once, you might be able to go a little more smoothly if you remember it properly, but if you do that, it’s kind of boring to do it like this , it’s not white anymore, so, it might have been a little hard to understand, but I’ll try to explain it as much as possible with a map, so I’m back, that’s all for today’s video, thank you for watching this time, see you again, bye-bye [music]
