館山城 房総の戦国大名里見氏の居城 千葉県 Tateyama Castle 2025

Today I’m heading to Tateyama Castle in Chiba Prefecture. I get off at Tateyama Station on the Uchibo Line. It’s about a 30-minute walk from the station to Tateyama Castle. On the way, I cross the Shioiri River. Tateyama Castle was the residence of the Sengoku daimyo Satomi clan. The castle is located on a hill with a good view. I reached Shiroyama Park at the foot of the hill. A little further up is the Tateyama City Museum, which displays the history of the Awa region. I continue climbing the castle again. The height to the top is about 70m. On the way up to the main enclosure, there was a Japanese garden. This garden seems to have been created in 1988. I arrived at the main enclosure. This is a replica castle tower. There was an Asama Shrine inside the main enclosure. There is a stone monument of the Satomi Castle ruins (Tateyama Castle). The replica castle tower was built in 1982, modeled after Maruoka Castle. I went to the summit plaza on the sea side. A magnificent view spreads out before me. It’s a very open view. I enter the castle tower. The view from the top floor is also wonderful. You can also see Tateyama city clearly. You can also see Mt. Fuji faintly. After this, we went to the graves of the eight surviving retainers, which are located a little further away. When Satomi’s Tadayo was abolished and died in Kurayoshi, his retainers also committed suicide. When Satomi’s former retainers heard about this, they divided his bones and took them home to offer a memorial service. The eight surviving retainers are the model for the Satomi Hakkenden. It was located quite secluded. This is Shiki no Oka, where various flowers are blooming. It seems that ninja experiences are also held here. This is Tateyama Shrine, which was built in 1930. This shrine was built by combining the shrines in Tateyama Town that were destroyed in the Great Kanto Earthquake. On the way back, we stopped by Nagisa Station Tateyama. Sakana-kun is the honorary stationmaster. This is a seaside square that recreates the rich nature of Tateyama Bay. There is an observation deck on the second floor. The sea breeze is pleasant. I’m hungry, so I’ll have a seafood bowl before heading home. Thank you for watching.
