Awaji Island 2 nights 3 days trip #Awaji Island Central Edition. We have just finished sightseeing in Minami Awaji. We are currently driving north. This time, we will visit tourist spots around the center of the island. There are spots around here where you can interact with animals. First, we will go to Awaji Island Ranch. It is about a 20 minute drive from Fukuura Port. A milk carton! It’s an easy landmark (^^). We arrived. The parking lot was free. Let’s go! There is a sign. It looks spacious. I would like to try at least one thing. There is a shop! I wonder if you can drink milk. These milk crackers look delicious (^^). This time we had soft serve ice cream. Milk was sold in cartons. There is a tent over there, so let’s go there. Milk soft serve ice cream 500 yen. It is quite firm. When you eat it, the cream is rich. It has a rich flavor. And it has a refreshing aftertaste (^^). Farm soft serve is delicious as expected (^^). Let’s go to the next place while eating. This is Pickland Hall. You can experience barbecuing and butter-making. Next to it is a farm. Ponies! They have short legs and are so cute (^^). Let’s go inside the building we saw earlier. There is a famous travel agency. There is a food court-like restaurant here. You can feed the ponies! This is something you should definitely do (^^). They make your own butter here. On the right is the BBQ. Right in front of you is the entrance to the milking experience. You can also feed the ponies. Milking experience is 700 yen. It seems that you have to wear this. A cow! It’s quite hard for a 50-year-old man traveling alone. It’s my first experience (^^). It’s warmer than I imagined. And it’s very soft. This cow is apparently 3 years old. It was a very valuable experience (^^). Milk-making experience. You can feed the calf milk. You can also ride ponies. The ponies are walked with the reins fixed like a merry-go-round. Children can enjoy it safely. This is a hay-feeding experience. All experiences are charged. I didn’t have any hay, but they came close (^^). A peaceful landscape spreads before me. Let’s go feed the ponies. Does it recognize the food? . Keep the feed as short as possible ^_^;. It might bite your finger… This pony was a little timid. Ah. I’ve been feeding only this pony for a while now. Feint. Success. The animal world is also tough (><). Finally, we headed to the cowshed. Mozart! . It seems that they are playing Mozart’s music to the dairy cows. I wonder if they are soothed and produce delicious milk. I wonder if everyone is outside at this time. Awajishima Ranch was a place that adults can enjoy as well (^^). I recommend the milking experience! . Next, we head to the shrine. The next shrine we head to is “Onokorojima Shrine”. Onokorojima Shrine is a historic shrine that stands on a hill called “Onokoro Island” and is connected to the creation myth that appears in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. There’s an onion hut! There are many onion fields around here. The shrine is about a 7-minute drive from the previous place. Onion fields all around. A torii gate! Is it under construction? The large torii gate was built in 1982. It is considered one of the “Three Great Torii Gates of Japan” along with Heian Shrine and Itsukushima Shrine. The parking lot here is also free. I wanted to see the whole thing. This torii gate is 21.7m high. The torii gate at Heian Shrine is 24.2m high, so it is comparable in size. You can feel its size from up close. First, let’s go to the chozuya. I wonder how long the construction will last. This small hill is said to be “Onokoro Island” itself. There is the main hall there. That’s it! There is a wagtail stone here. This is a power spot for matchmaking. The red and white strings also seem to bring good luck. Originated in Japan. We will visit each one in order. What is here? There is a sacred tree. There were two sacred trees inside. Next, let’s head to Yaoyorozu Shrine behind the main hall. The green maples were beautiful at the time. We will also visit the Yaoyorozu Gods. Our luck will also be boosted. Shall we head back? Let’s come back and see it again when the construction is finished. An unmanned sales outlet. There are a lot of onions (^^). They’re cheap! . It’s about time to head for lunch. The shop we’re going to now is “Shichi Cafe”. It’s about a 4-minute drive from here. We arrived. We got quite lost after that. We switched to GOOGLE maps and arrived. Wow. There are lots of onions! . “Awaji Island onions” are the third largest producer in the country. It’s quite a secluded place so we got lost. I wonder. This is a cafe that was renovated from an onion warehouse. SHICHI CAFE, located on the site of the onion warehouse. There are onions here too. I’ve always wanted to go to this cafe, so I’m looking forward to it! I guess this is one of the popular menu items. The interior is spacious and has a stylish atmosphere. The ceiling is high! Today I came to eat the zebra burger (^^). You order using a tablet. There are many types of lunch. They also have zebra burgers. They also have curry. Sweets. Cafe drinks. They also have takeout . The soup bar is free, but it closes when it runs out . The drinks around there are also free. They had fruit water, lemon water, and regular water. I got some soup. It was onion soup. This seat was great (^^). The drink that came with the set arrived. I had Awajishima seaweed salt lemonade. The ketchup on top is for potatoes. It tastes sweet and sour when you drink it. But because it contains seaweed salt, the sourness is somewhat reduced. The carbonation is also not too strong. Delicious! Zebra Burger Set 2100 yen. Zebra is a combination of the name “shima no umai” (deliciousness of the island). The set comes with a burger, fries, and a drink. This is definitely delicious! The bag is stylish too! I wonder if it will fit in a bag. The Zebra Burger uses a 90% beef:1 pork mince mix. The onion rings are made from onions grown in-house in Awaji Island. They are fried slowly at a low temperature. The tomato sauce is made by reducing tomatoes and adding a touch of garlic. It’s bound to be delicious! There’s also cheese and bacon inside. My expectations are at their highest. Delicious! The bun is fluffy and moist! It hasn’t even reached the meat yet. It has a natural sweetness and aroma. The onions are also delicious (^^). Finally, the meat comes. This is delicious! The meaty patty and the sweetness of the fried onions are exquisite! Apparently the owner renovated the place himself. The onion soup was also rich and delicious (^^). When I came, there happened to be a seat available. It seems to be quite busy usually. You can make a reservation at the cafe, so I think it’s better to make a reservation. It was a very satisfying burger (^^). The atmosphere of the restaurant was also great! Next, we went to the Hill of England. It’s about a 5-minute drive from here to the Hill of England. We arrived. The upper part was full. I came to the parking lot below. England Hill is located in the center of Awaji Island. It is an agricultural park themed on the Lake District of England. The park is quite large. It is said to be about 14 times the size of Hanshin Koshien Stadium. I think that’s the entrance. If you purchase the admission fee from the official website, it was 1100 yen. There are also discount tickets on sale. I came here without a plan. I’m not sure what to do. For now, I’ll go to the koalas. It is divided into the England Area and the Green Hill Area. The koalas are in the Green Hill Area. The Green Hill Area is an area where many animals live, including the koala house. The England Area is said to have a lake, flower fields, play equipment, and experience facilities. If you go straight from here, you will reach the koala house. There are other animals besides koalas. This is the koala house. There are currently seven facilities that raise koalas in Japan. It is said that the reason it is difficult to raise them is because of the high cost of eucalyptus and the large burden on personnel and budget. It is quite large. Wow. A koala is eating eucalyptus (^^). There are northern and southern koalas. This is the only place where you can see both. It ‘s cute to see them eating (^^). It must be nap time. The food is changed at 11:30, so it might be best to go around that time. The difference between northern and southern koalas is that they live in different areas of Australia. There are also big differences in appearance and physical characteristics. Northern koalas are small and mostly light gray. Is this koala northern? Southern koalas are large and mostly dark gray to black. Southern koalas. They are said to be resistant to the cold. “Koala” is an Australian aboriginal word. It means “does not drink water.” They are animals that drink very little water and are specialized in eating eucalyptus. Soothing. I wonder how many there are. It seems to change depending on the season. Maybe they’re not here. They were hiding (^^). It was my first time seeing a koala in person. It was so cute (^^). For some reason, there were penguins. There was a koala bone specimen. Let’s go see the animals outside too! A pelican! Next to it was an ostrich. Over there ^_^;. A wallaby! There was information about each animal, so it was easy to understand. There were also many birds here. Huh? There (^^). Let’s go see them over there. There are squirrel monkeys here. There are six squirrel monkeys here. Are they aggressive? This bird is a silver-spotted hornbill. They eat their food skillfully (^^). There were various rare birds. That’s! A capybara! It’s taking a bath (^^). It looks like it feels good! A little bit of trivia! Apparently they basically defecate in water. I see. There’s a lot to see (^^). There’s a garden-like area. There’s a botanical garden (large greenhouse), so let’s go there. This is a spot where you can enjoy plants and beautiful flowers with a tropical atmosphere. The bougainvillea is perfect for the tropics (^^). There are reptiles here and there. There were also turtles. I miss the turtles in Miyakojima. They are staring at me (^^). A photogenic spot! There are turtles here too. These turtles are said to be moody (^^). It was a place where you can enjoy plant viewing at your leisure. Beautiful flowers. Next, we head to the England area. You can use the free shuttle bus to get to the England area. Departure. We’ll arrive soon. The ride took about 5 minutes. I didn’t have a plan, so I was wondering where to go. The atmosphere of England! It looks like a garden in England (^^). It has a nice European atmosphere (^^). The plantings are also beautiful (^^). There are still some parts that are not yet completed. What is this? There were tomato and strawberry greenhouses here. It seems that you can experience harvesting them seasonally. The scenery is like the Lake District in England. The idyllic scenery is soothing. There are hills around there. There are sheep! There was a photo frame here. It has a great atmosphere (^^). It came this way. Is it time for dinner? So fast! To its friends. There was also a lamb (^^). What is further back? A door to anywhere. It’s a photogenic spot (^^). There was also a cafe. There is an amusement park. This is the “Playground”. There are many playground equipment that children will enjoy. What! It has a very retro feel. The room seems to be slanted. There is a horse over there. Apparently you can ride here . I wonder how much it costs. Wow, it’s cheap! 700 yen per lap. I’d like to try this (^^). I wonder if it goes around like that. It’s my first time riding so I’m a little worried ^_^;. I’m afraid I might fall ^_^;. I got used to it after riding for a while (^^). It’s a lot of fun! . The horse riding experience was a lot of fun (^^). The animals were cute (^^). I highly recommend the horse riding experience! Go-karts look fun too! . It’s time to head back. At that time, “Peter Rabbit’s Flower Garden” was being held. It has an English garden feel. There are restaurants around there. This is the Museum of Creation. It is also designated as a registered tangible cultural property. It used to be the Mihara County Office. Now it is a museum that disseminates information on the history and tourist spots of Awaji Island. I’m thirsty so I’ll go to the cafe. Awaji Island milk. This is “Oishii Kobo” (Delicious Workshop). There is a space that doubles as a sales place for homemade products and a comfortable rest room. Awaji Island Milk (Takumi) 150 yen. Takumi is a limited production using raw milk from only five selected dairy farmers on Awaji Island. Rich and refreshing! . It’s time to go back to the car. My MINI. Next time I’d like to take my time and relax. It was more fun than I imagined (^^). Next, I’m heading towards Sumoto City. The hotel I’m staying at tonight is in Sumoto City. On the way, we can see Sumoto Castle, so let’s go there. We can see the stone walls. I’ve been here before. I was on foot then. I remember being quite tired. Parking lot. From here, it’s about a 6-minute walk to the castle tower. However, it’s a long slope, so it’s hard (><). Sumoto Castle was built on Mikumayama (about 133m above sea level) in Sumoto City, Awaji Island. It is a mountain castle that was active from the Middle Ages to the Edo period. It was built in 1526 by the Ataka clan (a military commander who led the Awaji Navy). It’s quite tough. There’s a cafe. It didn’t exist in the past. The stone walls boast an area of about 800m east to west and about 600m north to south. It is one of the largest in Western Japan. The castle tower! The castle tower is a replica. It is the oldest replica castle tower in Japan, built in 1928 with reinforced concrete. There was a cafe here. There is a great view point overlooking the sea here. Wow. From here you can see the Sumoto city area, Osaka Bay and the Kitan Strait! I think it would be even more beautiful if the weather was good. Is that Wakayama that you can see there? Let’s go see the castle tower as well. You can’t enter this castle tower, but you can look down. I hope it will be open someday. I’m going to that beach now. I can see the hotel where I’m staying tonight (^^). Now let’s go back to the car. Before that, I’ll return the car. This is the first time I’ve used the “Sky Rental Car Smart Service”. It’s a hybrid of rental and car sharing, and it was great. The key is operated through the app. There was no key exchange. It was a smooth experience. Maybe because the service has just started. The car was new (^^). I’m back! I’m heading to the beach . I can see Sumoto Castle, where I was just now. It’s closed… I thought I’d eat some ice cream on the beach, but… I can see the beach. This is Ohama Beach. It’s famous for its white sand and green pines. It’s very calm. If the weather was good, the sea would look even more beautiful. This beach is 750m long. You can walk leisurely along the coastline. It’s time to head to the hotel. The hotel is in sight. I’m staying at “Yumekaiyu” tonight. It’s the most reasonably priced accommodation in the New Awaji Group. This is the ruins of the castle below Sumoto Castle. Sumoto Castle (the lower castle) was built as one with the upper castle. I arrived at the hotel. I often stay at the New Awaji Group. As expected, it was a high-class hotel because it is part of the New Awaji Group. The fresh flowers are nice (^^). There is a terrace on the roof, so let’s go there. Wow. You can see the ocean! It has a resort feel. It’s a spectacular view of Osaka Bay! Unfortunately, I can’t see the ocean from my room… What! There is a tree that looks like Shishigami-sama from Princess Mononoke! I go to my room. This time, my room is a standard double room. It was 16,380 yen for one person with two meals. If you are staying alone, you can only reserve this room. The view is on the mountain side. After a short break, we headed to the hot springs. We went on a hot spring tour. This place has a resort feel. This hotel has two large hot spring baths. Both are spacious and have a resort feel. There is a forest spa. And Umi-no-Mori . I’m going to the detached Umi-no-Mori spa now. It felt like going to a resort spa and it was wonderful (^^). I’m off now. The bath was nice (^^). I’m back in my room. I’m off to dinner now. For dinner, I had an all-you-can-eat Awaji beef hot pot (^^). You can enjoy two different flavors. This is the end of today’s video. The next Awaji Island sightseeing VLOG will be. Ando architecture surrounded by nature. Raw whitebait bowl at the roadside station. Nojima Fault Preservation Museum. The most delicious pancakes. A high-speed ferry that connects Akashi and Awaji Island. Thank you for watching this far. See you in the next video! .
