Eating & Exploring Kanazawa for the First Time! | 4K Japan travel food vlog
[Music] Good morning everyone! Today we are at Kanazawa.
We just dropped off our luggage at the hotel and now we’re going to walk around and check out
a food market to grab some food! Let’s go! [Music] Oh what is that? Happy face croquette They’re making it fresh in front of you. So we’re at Omicho Food Market and it has
tons of seafood, groceries, and meats. The croquette look really yummy!
I found pumpkin croquette which I haven’t had yet so I was like I
want to try that. I love pumpkin. It’s round. Very interesting.
They’re usually flat. Wow it is stuffed! Oh this one’s really yummy! Oh my goodness That’s crazy. They seasoned it inside.. Mmm! I think I like this
better than the potato one. Wow it’s so flavorful. I haven’t actually seen the
pumpkin one anywhere else. A little sweet too! Oh so tasty. Mmm! It’s so yummy! I feel like
it was better than the potato one. Oh wow. Yeah Just think of a potato croquette but then
the inside is stuffed with pumpkin instead. There’s cheese inside! What!
Is there? The white part. Oh damn. Is that what it was? That’s so yummy! Maybe that’s what was making it super tasty!
Yeah maybe the cheese melted into the pumpkin. On the side streets of Omitro Market, there’s
actually an area where there’s a bunch of seating with umbrellas. So that’s perfect If
you get something to eat. You can go there and chill and relax. Enjoy your meal. There’s
also a restroom nearby if you need to go. Next is this meat croquette. Meat
croquette! I love how it just says meat. It doesn’t have like
what kind of meat. It’s so soft. That’s really good. I think this is the best croquette place
we’ve had. We’ve had a lot of croquette on our trip. Oh my god I think this is the
best one. Like it’s actually tastes really meaty! The last meat croquettes we’ve had
have didn’t have that much meat. Okay The meat croquette we had at what Family
Mart? You couldn’t even tell taste the meat. It was like beef croquette or
something but you couldn’t taste the beef. This is like filled! There’s a lot of
pieces of ground meat. Tastes really meaty. Delicious! This looked yummy and I wanted to
try it.. I think it’s a crab tempura stick. Oh the tour guides are coming. Oh our bag flew! What! It’s imitation crab but it
still tastes really good. Tastes better than the small ones. This is like
a really big piece of imitation crab. I’ve never seen imitation crab that big actually.
That tempura I could get like three four of those and probably eat them at the
same time. It’s really good. Nice We’re in this little booth thing. You have to
take your shoes off and you come in and sit. I think this is like the traditional style
setting right? i think so. And here they teach you how to make a wet towels. So they give
these compact ones and you pour a little water.. Wow did you see it? It’s growing! What
in the world? And then you can unfold it! Oh hey that’s pretty cool! That’s the first time I saw this being
implemented in a restaurant. Right? I0 know they sell these at Daiso I was like
wondering when you would ever use it.. I guess this was good way. Okay so the
reason why we chose to eat at this restaurant is actually because we wanted to
try this traditional local food of Kanazawa called Kamojibuni. We’re looking for local
traditional dishes and that popped up so we’re going to give that a try! Yeah I’m so
excited cause we love duck! We love duck. Recommendations. Mentaiko udon.
Yo. There’s the sukiyaki. It’s duck sukiyaki. Where where? Duck sukiyaki?
Maybe that one? I’ll get the other one. Yeah we’re ready. Are we interested in this dessert too? Maybe. Matcha daifuku ice cream. Look how massive
this sign is. It’s like telling you to order it. It’s sukiyaki udon with duck. Okay
sure. What are you getting? I’m getting that. Oh that’s the duck! Wow that smells
so good. Some more veggies. Some kind of fried rice maybe. And then
some sauce for your noodles. Wow it smells really good! Look at those
duck breasts. Piece of duck. Looks so juicy. It’s a braised piece of duck meat and
It absorbed all the flavors from the vegetables and the broth. Pretty good. I
like my pieces of duck a little thicker but I think this is the way they cook
it. They put wasabi in their broth too.. I like it. You can taste the flavors from
the mushroom in the duck. It’s like infused. Big noodle puddle. Dip the noodles first.
Oh is that the official way of eating it? Mhm! Really tasty and refreshing!
I specifically ordered cold noodles because it’s really hot outside
Looks like there’s maybe tofu, mushroom in here. I’m not sure what
that is. Might be some kind of seafood. Tastes really good. I like it Feels like
a very homey meal. Like a home-cooked meal. Like it doesn’t feel heavy.
Feels like you could eat it all the time because it feels healthy. Can’t
believe there’s wasabi there. Yeah. Am I supposed to eat it with the wasabi
like this? Oh wasabi and duck? Yo do it. I like it. Yeah. it actually tastes really
good like that. Maybe that’s the way to eat it. My turn to start on my sukiyaki udon with duck
breast. And they have a little onsen egg here that I’m going to break apart right
now. I’m give that a try first. Mmm Wow These udon noodles are actually
a little on the thinner side. Nice nice nice nice nice nice. Thin udon noodles. Let’s go! That’s really fresh. Really chewy. Really soft.. I’m going to chow down now! This is
delicious. All done. We devoured this. Wo wo wo Fancy! Super stuffed. That
was really delicious. I like that the flavors are more like on the mild side in
comparison to everything we’ve been eating. So definitely more of like a homecooked
meal kind of vibe rather than going out but I really appreciated that because
all the meals we’ve been having has been really heavy… so this is just like
a light meal that we’ll stomach more easily. Very delicious. Very traditional. If
you’re in Kanazawa area definitely try it out! Oo this is a nice small cute garden.
We are enjoying a stroll in a Japanese garden. It’s Japanese just because it’s in Japan. All the gardens are technically
Japanese gardens. And we out! We are at Kazue-Machi Chaya District. This is
an olden Edo area street near the river. Very aesthetic. I think the lowest traffic city I’ve
seen out of everywhere we’ve been so far. There’s not that many people honestly. On the website
actually said this is like a more quiet Kyoto. These streets are so awesome! Wow! They’re so tiny. We’re actually trying to go find the
ice cream store that has the gold on top. I think that is their specialty
here. Oh shiny! Oh my goodness! Let’s go! Let’s do it! Let’s eat this
ice cream! The gold ice cream. So no eating and walking. Oh he’s already done! He’s going to put the gold flake on there. Wow! Wow oh my god!? Wow! Dude that looks too bougie to even eat.
What?! Dude that thing is insane! Oh it’s so pretty! But I wonder if
it tastes like anything. Okay, it’s my first time eating gold. Let’s
see if it tastes like anything.. Does that have any taste? Tastes like I’m bougie.
You have gold on your lips. Do I? Yeah gold on your lips. I wasn’t expecting golden lips. That’s
so interesting. I don’t think there should be a taste. It doesn’t taste like anything. It’s really
thin gold. Just like paper. Yeah paper thing. It’s even thinner than paper. It just melts away. The
ice cream’s really good though. It’s really milky! The ice cream’s really good. You don’t really
taste the gold but it’s really cold to eat. Go like… so it sticks to you. Now I know when people eat like those
steaks that are wrapped in gold and stuff and pay a ton for it… They’re just
flexing their money. It doesn’t taste like anything. Yeah gold doesn’t taste
like anything! It looks cool though. Can our body even process this? i have no idea. There’s gonna be gold
flakes when I go into the washroom. How’s the cone? Pretty good. This place is so bougie. Everything’s
just like covered in gold. Gold flakes everything. They even have gold
flake chopsticks. Golden golf ball. What? [Music] We go. Cockroaches? What is happening? Explain.
Bugs in the water.. I don’t know. Bugs in the water? It’s literally showing you that the
bugs lay the egg and then the egg rolls into the water and then they hatch in the water
and they come back out and the cycle continues. Huge park. So we’re outside the castle walls
right now That is actually one of the entrance but in order to get
to it you actually have to cross a bridge on the other side.. which we
are going to go next! There are layers. If you know you know. Oh admission! We’re now in Kenrokuen garden, one of the three perfect gardens in Japan
which means it’s designed to be beautiful all year round. Every season is supposed to
be spectacular. Let’s go check it out! Fish! So we were walking and there was this post
in the middle of the sidewalk and I looked up and it was to support the tree cause it’s
leaning forward too much. What in the world? It’s just chilling here. Why is it doing that? Why are the wings like that? I don’t know. It’s like it’s praying or something. So
weird. Oh my god. That was the first time we saw a crane do that. Yeah I don’t know
what it was doing. The wings were in a weird strange position. Like it was like
praying or doing some kind of ritual or something. Really funny. It looked like
it was flexing its wings or something. So Devi is super sleepy so she’s going
to get a drink. What do you want? That? So this is a statue of Prince
Yamato. A lot of people here are actually taking a look at this.
Looks really cool. It’s really big. You having fun? I’m so sleepy! A
lot of the trees here are being supported by like these logs. So
without the workers here all these branches would just die. Look at
all the supports it has around it. Very interesting I love the way they designed
this place. Our first feature. Yeah it’s pretty cool. So you walk
up these bamboo looking stairs. They have a little area there. Maybe it was
worth the walk. I have to get up here. That’s nice and peaceful. This is what everyone’s looking at. Very nice and very peaceful. Some water for the birds. Stairs to go back down.
Devi chilling. It’s shaded and breezy up here. They’re all over the tree. There’s
definitely plums at the plum grove. Beautiful pond. Yeah I imagine this would
look really pretty in the autumn cause all the trees would have like all different colors
and they would show in the water. That’s for sure. Right now it’s all green. Fish Fish! Oh my
god! These guys are so big! Look I’m feeding them. Somehow you’re getting all the fishes
just by waving a hand. We found the exit. We are here all by ourselves entering
the castle but only the free portion. Look at these gates! Oh wow! That’s so
cool. Oh my god. That’s really The grass here is like really well maintained. It’s
like all an even length. Super green and there’s no brown patches. Oh my god.
Are those ravens? Yeah, those are big. Look at this grass. Look at
it It’s beautiful isn’t it. 501. The only one. Let’s go!
Oh wow This is really spacious! A lot more room than our last hotel. Coming in. There’s a big table dude! Wow We can eat so much food here. Literally
we’re staying here for one day. You put like your trouser in there. How to use trouser press. What’s a
trouser press? I don’t know. It’s a cat kneading bread. He’s making his bread. Oh he’s
making his bread. Nice nice nice. The streets are so cute. Very beautiful. Let’s go. We left our hotel and we are
going to get dinner. We’re going to try some conveyor sushi. This place apparently
is pretty good according to our friends. There’s a lot of bugs here. Very pretty here. Wow. [Music] Change it to English. Touch screen to order!
Wow look at all this stuff. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness I’m so excited! What are we
going to do? Let’s go to seasonal menu. There’s so much. How are you going to decide? Hokkaido black beef gunkan. Nice. Is it going to come now? Oh it already
comes right away! Oh wow fatty tuna! Order. Well we got the salmon so we
got to get the tuna too. Yeah, we’re eating good. Dude everything here is so
cheap compared to the other places we’ve been to. Other conveyors. These are definitely the
best price. Like 150! That’s insane. 150 for two pieces! Oh they’re not letting us order
anymore. We have too much stuff in the queue. Oh what that’s so cool! Oh my god!
This is the minced special fatty tuna gunkan.
Some wasabi. Beautiful. This is the Hokkaido
black beef gunkan. And they have so many different soy sauces! I
want I want Ponzu soy sauce. That sounds yummy. Dp you want this one on
yours too? Sure, I’m willing to try. That’s pretty good. That’s really good. Wow. Hokkaido black beef. That’s beefy alright! Oh that’s so good! You
can taste like the black pepper and the beef. Wow check this out!
Wow. That was um grilled eel with um teriyaki sauce 150 yen for two.. I can’t
believe how cheap this place is! This is Tuna Mountain. Sushi cheer! I was expecting the quality of
the sushi to not be that good cause it’s so cheap so I was expecting
to be like maybe Kura quality but this is like really good. Now I’m just
going to say this is my favorite. My favorite conveyor sushi so far.
This next one. Look at that salmon! Oh my god. All the salmon’s falling
off! I can’t even eat it. Cheers. Those salmon eggs burst your mouth. This place is pretty pretty worth it! I love those
salmon eggs. They add so much flavor! Mackerel. Check that out Wow! That’s fatty! It’s
like marinated and looks really good.. That’s a heavy hit of ginger. Really
smooth. Really delicious. Really fresh. I was expecting it to be a tougher texture
but it was actually really soft and chewy. We got flamed smoked duck. Flame smoked
duck! That looks fire. Then we got squid rare steak. And then we have this.. I
think that’s the fatty yellow! Oh my god! And this is the roast beef with garlic
sauce and radish I believe. This all looks so delicious! What’s this last one? I
think that’s grilled beef with spicy leek. Wow that one looks really good. Okay let’s
get the show on the road! Check that out! Oh no mine fell apart. Is that roast beef? This is the smoked duck. We definitely ordering another one!
Wow That’s so yummy! What is this? That’s squid. It’s charred.
This is the fatty yellow. Nice. I’ve never had a bad dish yet. Yeah! Not a single one of these
has been a disappointment yet. Like every single one of them
has just been a mouthgasm. Yeah, very delicious! Check this one! This is the
proscuitto with onion. Very interesting. Cheers! I don’t like that one. That’s the only
one I don’t like. I thought it still tastes good. Very different. Check
out this monster! Spicy leek beef. Cheers! The chili chili oil is so good! It has
like some garlic and a bit of a crunch but just topped with the leak. Oh my god it
just makes everything better. I can imagine like every single nigiri with this would be
delicious. Yeah I wish they had that on the side or something. The last one that came
in has some chili but this one is squid. There’s some bounce in that squid. So we got these three tuna and it’s
lean albaore and soy marinated. Wow. hen we got this heaping flame
fatty salmon. That looks so freaking good! Oh my god. Next up is
the squid tempura with garlic mayo. And then there were some other
cooked items that looked good. This is the egg custard with spicy and caviar
and cheese… Oh my god that looks super soft. This is the pork bone broth ramen with flame
garlic. Yo the black garlic! That looks so fire! That actually looks really really good! Like
the egg looks like it’s cooked well. That chashu looks so fatty! Yeah the chashu looks like it’s
cooked pretty well too. Tons of garlic in here. Garlic and black garlic. The broth looks super
rich! I can’t wait. This first tuna is minced. Very interesting. Cheers! I usually don’t like mint tuna sushi but
that was really delicious! Yeah it was really creamy. I think albacore tuna is the one
you usually see in North America. That’s the one we eat back home but way cheaper here. Yeah. Wow
check that one! Oh my goodness. Cheers. Cheers. That piece was my favorite out of the three/
That was three pieces for 150 yen! Pretty good! 50 yen for a piece of sushi… This is the
squid tempura with garlic mayo. Wow Cheers! That’s so delicious. It’s like crispy tempura
inside. The squid is so chewy. The sauce just compliments it so good. Yeah I think I
like that one better than the regular squid! The squid tempura.. It was like extra soft/ I
think from being fried. Yeah I definitely see that. Look how fatty the salmon is! Oh my god,
This whole thing is just like soaked in salmon fat. Oh my goodness. Can you even eat this?
I’m going to try my best! Big bite Big bite! Want me to finish it? mhm Oh my god that’s so good! All the salmon fat just melted into the
rice! Tastes so fatty and good! So rich. It’s jiggly. Jiggle jiggle jiggle jiggle!
Oh wow It’s so soft! First bite! Mmmmm You like it? It’s like pudding but just with
egg! So it’s an egg custard and then the code roe. It’s like spicy salty! Adds a lot of flavor to it.
Wow. That’s so soft though. It like just melts in your mouth. Kind of like a steamed egg or similar?
I think it’s silkier. They made it silkier somehow. It’s like super silky. Oh wow. Oh there’s
mochi at the bottom! Oh yeah Yeah that’s mochi! Okay I got to try the mochi. That
looks amazing! You got to chew well. That’s really good. The mochi
is so chewy! I’ve never had it like this. This is really tasty actually. Wow This is a lot! This is actually a pretty
big portion. I was expecting it to be a smaller.
First bite! That’s actually really good! I really like
the broth! It’s so garlicky. Like they were not skimping out on the black garlic. The
picture didn’t look like this. Like this is more garlicky than I expected. Mhm Right?
I love garlic so this is like heaven for me. Literally tastes better than some of the
ramen we’ve had back at home from like an actual restaurant! The broth is super rich.
I don’t know if the garlic flakes kicking in like it’s super garlicy! This is like next level
black garlic ramen. From a sushi conveyor? What?! This is crazy. That’s our three
piece salmon set. Heaping flame salmon cheese. Salmon with spicy
shredded leek. Check that syrup! Ooh. This is the fatty. That’s really delicious. So fatty. Every time
I bite. The salmon fat mixes in with the rice. I think this is the lean salmon. Still really good. There’s ginger on the side. Chili oil chili pepper on salmon. Let’s go! Can’t go wrong with that chili oil. That chili is actually so delicious.
If they sold it in jars I would buy it! Check that! Check that out. Look at the amount
of cheese on this and the seared salmon. Wow! So messy! Super cheesy! What the heck! i really like the salmon but I don’t
know how I feel about the cheese. It kind of tastes like those those honey
butter cheese. The ones that are like slightly sweet. It does. Right? We don’t eat
cheese with salmon that often.. Unless it’s the cream cheese salmon roll. We got some
edamame to help with digestion hopefully. It’s cold. It’s salted. It’s a good
snack! It’s refreshing. Very delicious. That smells so good. This is fried chicken cartilage.
Sounded really yummy so we decided to try one last thing before
we go. Ooh crispy! Cheers. Wow It’s kind of like a chicken karaage but
inside it’s a little bit more crispy. Yeah, a little bit more crispy and
a little bit more crunchy. So it’s this battered cartilage.
Really good! That’s delicious. You put some kind of
seasoning in it and it made everything so much more tasty. Fish… I
have no idea. It’s magic power! What is that? what is that?
It’s the total! That’s the damage. And the total is 4620 for all
of this! Here. Let’s see. Wow. That was Hama Sushi in Kanazawa Nakamura shopping.
It’s a train so there’s locations everywhere but they’re usually far out from the center so you
have to make a bit of a way to get there. But I think it’s worth it! It was really delicious.
Well worth it! The restaurant is now completely packed and there’s actually like a ton of
people outside waiting for seating. Like we’re so lucky. We just managed to miss the
crowd because when we walked in it was like empty. That’s crazy. I didn’t know it was
that popular. That was so delicious though. Definitely my favorite conveyor sushi because
of the value that you’re getting from it. Best bang for your buck and it’s delicious honestly!
Yeah cause at the other conveyor sushi I felt like I still had to watch the price for stuff
because sometimes things would add up really quickly but then for this one like everything
was basically 200 yen or like less. So it just felt like I could order as much as I want and I
didn’t really have to worry about the price at all. That’s the good thing.. Like at the more
expensive places you actually kind of want to hold back. You’re like uh it’s pretty pricey. Like
do I want to eat that much? Yeah right for sure. over to that side. The sunset Wow! I think in
the city we don’t get to see the skyline that much cause there’s so many tall buildings.
I didn’t even realize until now.. I’m like “Wait a minute. We haven’t really seen the
sunset and stuff like that or the sky much.” That’s a lot of sense in that There’s just
so many high rises.. Here’s a lot flatter so I actually get to see the sky I was like
“Wait a minute This is very beautiful.” Wow Oh my goodness. So pretty. It’s like glowing behind us! Oh my goodness
The sunset is gorgeous. So right now we are heading to the Samurai District. All
the homes are closed but the area is still open So we’re going to go check
it out before it becomes pitch black. If you go before 5:00 p.m some of the
houses actually let you go inside and check them out. It’s like supposed to be these
old traditional style samurai homes. We missed it unfortunately cause we were too tired but
the district around is still really nice. We’re heading down just cause it’s so
beautiful. Actually when you’re down the river bank you don’t really see the river
as much as a whole but still pretty nice. The vibes here is just so nice. It feels really
peaceful Everything feels like a lot slower in comparisons to the city. Like people are
just out walking enjoying enjoying life nature environment. In the city It feels like
everybody is like rushing to go somewhere or getting drunk. Oh yeah Hustle Hustle and bustling.
Maybe it’s just the area that we’re in right now. Yeah I’m very happy we got to explore Kanazawa. Oh my goodness the vibe here is insane!
Especially right now because it’s the evening and the lights are just starting to light
up. Sun is setting So the vibes here is so nice! We are almost done it too. It’s really small
actually. Dude I we got bit like probably so many times trying to get some photos.
Yeah, definitely a couple bug bites. But this area is so pretty and I feel
like the photos and videos just doesn’t do it justice. Like it just doesn’t look
as good on the camera. In real life it’s like really pretty. Oh my god that’s a
bummer. It’s kind of the mistake on our end though cause I think we were supposed
to come prior to complete sunset… Yeah, the golden hour. We were eating during golden
hour. We were spent way too much time at the sushi restaurant. Oops. Way too much. But still a
very nice area. Very pretty. Tomorrow we’re going to Takayama and that’s supposed to be just as
beautiful too! Yeah I’m excited for there! We won’t miss that golden hour then!

wahhh you guys have been to kanazawa as well. I still remember the place we ate at that had amazing sukiyaki, it was close to higashi chaya.
we'll go back again in Nov but for longer 2-3 days after we go to shirakawa go and takayama.

36:45 It may taste a little different from this chili oil from Hama Sushi, but there are bottles of chili oil called “Taberu Rayu” (eating chili oil) available in Japanese supermarkets. It is very tasty, so if you have never tried it, give it a try!!

兼六園近辺も、今の時期は旅行者も少なく、あまりストレスを感じずに回れたと思います(春と秋は観光客が多いです)
