Tsunoshima is an island with a population of approximately 600 people located at the northwest tip of Yamaguchi Prefecture in the Sea of Japan (Hibikinada) in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. This island is included in Kitanagato Kaigan Quasi-National Park. Tsunoshima Lighthouse is a lighthouse made entirely of granite that stands at Yumegasaki on the northwest tip of Tsunoshima. This lighthouse was first lit in 1876, and has been watching over the safety of this area for about 150 years. This is the last lighthouse designed by Richard Henry Blanton, known as the “father of Japanese lighthouses.” It was the first Western-style lighthouse on the Sea of Japan coast, and is said to be his masterpiece. This lighthouse is designated as one of only five first-class lighthouses in Japan. It is an A-rank preserved lighthouse with high historical and cultural value, and has been selected as one of Japan’s top 50 lighthouses, a modernization heritage, and a civil engineering heritage site selected by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers. In 2020, it was designated as a national important cultural property. The Tsunoshima Lighthouse is recognized as a “Love Lighthouse” by the Japan Romantic Association and the Nippon Foundation as a sacred place for romance and “a place where you can look into your future together.”

そして歴史的文化財的価値が高いAランクの保存灯台で、日本の灯台50選、近代化遺産、土木学会選奨土木遺産にも選ばれています。
2020年には国の重要文化財に指定されました。
角島灯台は「ふたりの未来を見つめる場所」ロマンスの聖地として日本ロマンチスト協会と日本財団が「恋する灯台」と認定してるそうです♡
