I am currently in Hiraya Village I will visit all the roadside stations in Nagano Prefecture from now on It seems there are a total of 54 locations Northern Shinshu, Eastern Shinshu, Central Shinshu, Southern Shinshu, Kiso It seems like they are divided into these five areas It’s a brochure that introduces things divided into five parts I happened to get it somewhere The free ones I’ve probably been to all of them While I’m feeling dizzy The atmosphere in Nagano Prefecture varies greatly depending on the location Like in the northern, southern, and central regions, as well as Kiso So I think I’ll try to do this block in about five parts Stop by all the roadside stations and either eat something or buy something there Also, there are unique characteristics in that area I hope to introduce that area as well Let’s start with the Minami-Shinshu block (I missed the Michi-no-Eki Ooshiba Kogen I will introduce it on another occasion.) First, here is the Michi-no-Eki Shinshu Hiraya Here is the pamphlet 54 roadside stations in Nagano Prefecture Like this North Shinshu, Central Shinshu, Kiso, South Shinshu, and East Shinshu blocks I am currently in the southernmost block of Nagano I plan to tour the southern Nagano block today This is how Minami-Shinano looks From the roadside station Venus Line Tateshina Lake I am at number 13 now I will go see the roadside station Shinshu Hiraya right away The roadside station Hiratani here is definitely recommended for its Sunflower Hot Springs There is a super slippery hot spring with a large open-air bath Now, let’s eat something at a roadside station A huge amount of mushrooms! All of this for just 500 yen!! There are plenty of apple juice and jam available Tōyama Genghis is also famous, isn’t it? Even the konjac from the Ina Valley countryside The giant cedar root tempura looks delicious! Sunflower Market The horse sashimi here is really delicious! I’ve arrived! Uma Toro Donburi (1,250 yen) That’s amazing, as expected I want to eat two, but I’ll hold back, haha There was a super-sized version of this, right? How much is 1400 yen? 1.5 times the meat and 2 times the rice, they say People who eat a lot might like that too I’ll eat this much I’ll mix it all together, though Let’s eat First meal Delicious!!! I’ll eat something at 12 different places It would be a big deal if two people were eating here Super marbled!! It’s well-marbled It’s like a horse’s trot So put it on top of the rice It melts a little and becomes soft This is really the best~ from the morning lol Alright, let’s go! I wonder if we’ll visit 12 places on today’s journey A total of 242 km to the roadside stations That’s quite a lot It might take about 6 to 7 hours It’s a bit uncertain whether I can get around to it today It’s really deep in the mountains down south, isn’t it? This is the lower part of Iida First, we’ll visit four places We’ve come quite far south, so I think it will feel warm or hot Surprisingly, this Hiratani and its high altitude… In this area of Shinshu Hiratani, the elevation is 920m, so I think it tends to be relatively cool in the mornings and evenings even in summer The climate around here is kind of like that I feel like there isn’t much snow in winter, relatively speaking It feels like a place that’s quite suitable for activities like playing in the river because the river is pretty clean It’s a fun place even in the summer By the way, what I’m saying is just our subjective opinion, haha It’s completely subjective, haha These are all places I’ve been to at least once Some people might think that I’m saying this subjectively, but That’s how we feel Here are our impressions There are several hot springs around here where you can enter with a Monomi-yu san tegata The sunflower hot spring I visited yesterday is like that too There are quite a few slippery types, I guess As for gourmet food and local specialties, I ate some today, but it’s definitely game meat, isn’t it? If you go to Tooyama Village, you’ll find things like Genghis Khan, and there’s a famous meat shop called Suzuki-ya known for its deer meat It’s a place where there seems to be a lot of game meat The recommended restaurant on the south side is definitely the horse meat rice at the current roadside station I recommend it This is the kind of place you find around tourist attractions and spots I guess it’s the flowering peach trees around Hirugami Onsen, and there’s also the Flowering Peach Road It’s really beautiful there, isn’t it? Not just pink, but white, pink, red, and various colors that are really vibrant The vivid colors bloom suddenly, so I think they are really beautiful The mountain cherry blossoms are beautiful too, right? And of course, the stars in Achi Village are amazing We can’t really see the stars in Achi Village because it’s always cloudy But that’s a famous area Well, we’re almost at the next roadside station Roadside Station Minami-Shinshu Urugi This is a cozy little roadside station Was there a restaurant right next to the roadside station? There was a set meal restaurant When it’s eggplant season, you can eat really delicious eggplants This area is also famous for its teizan eggplants They are cultivated in Tenryu Village That restaurant doesn’t serve eggplants; they are harvested around this Ueki village Still, it’s an eggplant of a size I’ve never seen before That’s where the eggplant can be eaten There’s a restaurant As expected, this time of year is for butterbur sprouts And then there’s the芽 of taro Which one should I choose? Should I buy a baguette? It seems you can also eat things like lamb cutlets and sweetfish That’s amazing! I can’t believe they’re selling bread like this in the mountains It’s cheap, right? 260 yen This is bread from a bakery in Ueki Village made by a French chef Let’s eat! Ah, delicious! The second meal is a baguette If I keep doing this, it’s going to be bad, lol I still have to go to 10 more places Now, next is the roadside station Shinshu Niino (Niinno) Sengokudaira It’s close from here, 7 minutes This is the place, the restaurant we went to before is called Arigatou There was a food place at the roadside station, right? The restaurant at the roadside station, huh? It was something amazing I think it was lamb cutlet Dried amago fish and such We’re almost there This area is close, isn’t it? What I thought when I came down from the direction of Mae-Iida was that I had crossed an amazing mountain Then suddenly it opened up and I was surprised to see so many villages Around here, you know I’m pretty sure if we keep going south, we’ll end up in Hamamatsu, right? It’s coming out in Toyohashi, right? We’ve arrived It’s a nice and warm day today, there are a lot of riders The store is spacious Of course, there are plenty of local Shinshu souvenirs I am making rice cakes for offerings It seems you can also buy Ichida persimmons That’s amazing, the one above this There is also a restaurant The offering set meal looks delicious~ I’ll try the sacred rice cake (600 yen) Shinshu Niino Sengokudaira Wow, that’s big!! Let’s eat! If you eat something this big… are you okay? lol Incredibly delicious!! You were making it inside, right? The sauce is delicious too, though It’s amazing inside It’s super chewy!! Once you take a bite, Next, we have the roadside station Shinanoji Shimojo 26 km in 30 minutes from here It’s near Iida Both roadside stations were crowded, weren’t they? After all, it’s easy to come from the Tokai region I guess they’ll be driving here The Central Alps are in front of us, and to the right is the Southern Alps We have entered Shimojo Village Mr. Ryuta Mine said there is wine It smells nice like croissants SHIRO’s Bakery Look, it’s out lol Fresh soba~ There’s a butcher shop here Let’s go and check it out 1-year aged prosciutto!! How much? 250 yen Wagyu Menchi Katsu Thank you for the meal It’s quite easy to fill up your stomach like this at the roadside station I’m starting to get full That’s amazing!! Looks delicious~ Delicious!! The minced cutlet here is incredibly tasty That 250 yen is cheap! It has an amazing beef flavor and a lot of fat Alright, let’s move on to the next one Next is 30 minutes from here Roadside Station Minami Shinshu Toyooka Marche I guess this is the feeling of crossing over Iida and entering the Ina Valley Wow! This place is amazing! It seems to be a cherry blossom spot It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I wonder if the river rafting is about to start? Or is it already happening? It’s around here That’s right! Tenryu River boat ride boarding area This side looks beautiful It’s the Tenryukyo Cherry Blossom Road This is my first time here Is this the Tenryu River? If you go left from here, you’ll reach Iida City The town has become quite lively, hasn’t it? It’s already the city of Iida, isn’t it? We’re now on the eastern side of the city of Iida, right? You’re running along the east side of the Tenryu River, huh? I wonder what this is? Is it a linear train? This place also has a supermarket Bananas from Toyooka Village~ This roadside station has a wide variety of locally sourced products and a rich selection of wild vegetables You can also enjoy delicious gelato This area is famous for Ichida Dairy Ichida Yogurt I heard this is exclusive to here Shall we go with this one? Shine Muscat drinking yogurt (186 yen) I’m going to enjoy Ichida yogurt~!! Delicious!! The Shine Muscat has a faint fragrance It’s a bit of an elegant taste It’s not obviously a shine flavor, so it’s delicious Alright, let’s move on to the next one From here, it’s Takamori Town, right? I go up from Matsukawa to Nakagawa Village, Iijima Town, and Komagane, all the way to Ina The next place we’re going is another road to the east Isn’t the main road National Route 153? It’s in the Ina Valley, right? The next place we’re heading to is Ooshika, you know Why do I have to go on Route 152? So I’ll take a little detour there first and then I’ll come back to this Ina Valley What are the characteristics of this Ina Valley? To the west, there are peaks like Kiso Komagatake, and down below, you can see the Southern Alps, so that’s the feeling It’s sandwiched between the Central Alps and the Southern Alps, and the view is just great I wonder what the climate is like? There probably isn’t too much snow Many places are not that high in elevation, so it doesn’t feel that cold Compared to Chushin and Hokushin It’s warm because there’s not much snow, right? There are many slippery-type hot springs around here, aren’t there? If anything, Like at Matsukawa, you know? You can enter with the goods voucher from here to the Ina area I wonder if there are about 6 or 7 places Nearby, there is the Shinsyu Takamori Onsen Ontai no Yakata, just a short distance away Shinshu Matsukawa Onsen Seiryuen There are places like the open-air Kobushi hot spring If you head towards Komagane, This is a place where you can enter with a food tasting voucher Hayataro Onsen Komakusa no Yu There are plenty of hot springs you can enter besides the ones covered by the local product vouchers At the very top, there is the Fureai Exchange Center, Ooshiba no Yu, located in Minami-Mino Village, Iina District I’ve been talking about the Monmiyu product certificate for a while now Since I use it often, I think many of you are already familiar with it You can purchase a hot spring pass valid for one year for just under 2000 yen If you buy an onsen ticket, you can enter 12 affiliated onsen facilities I wonder if there are about 40 places Available for use only once per location, for a total of 12 times I think it was 1980 yen, which is quite a bargain, right? The recommended place in this area is Sunflower Onsen, which was open last night South of Iida What I like around here is the Shinshu Matsukawa Onsen Seiryuen It’s a place that has been renewed and looks beautiful, and the restaurant is delicious When it comes to tourist spots in the Ina Valley, I think Kiso Komagatake is the most famous I believe the Chuo Alps Komagatake Ropeway and Kiso Komagatake are the most well-known Also, the Ina Valley is beautiful, and I wonder if we go strawberry picking and do things like that I don’t know why, but the food is delicious! Restaurants from various places are amazing There are so many! Delicious places Because dishes like ramen and sauce katsudon are famous Takedas’ sauce katsudon is famous, isn’t it? In addition, the ramen from Ina is also famous The confectionery shop Shinshu Sato no Kakebo is located in Iijima Town Large companies like Kantenpapa and Yomeishu are each doing their own thing There’s a really large complex called Monterina It’s like a souvenir shop or something Because I’m doing various things It’s fun to go to places like that, isn’t it? From here, you go right towards the Ōshika area and then come back on the same road About 40 km round trip That’s a bit tough, isn’t it? lol It’s on the other side of the mountain you see on the right, right? Turn right here This is the road There will be a lot of people coming for the linear construction The truck is definitely here I’m back again Wow, everyone is avoiding me Are they building a road first? For the linear train Here we are Turn right here It seems like salt can be obtained here Right now, I’m heading a little south on Prefectural Road 152 If you go up north, you’ll reach Takato Let’s give it a try~ There is a paper cutout There are many products made using chili peppers from Ooshika Village Nozawana pickles Is this a monaka? The food court closed at 2:30 They were also selling salt See, it’s popular! Only one bag can be purchased per set You can see the snow-capped mountains, can’t you? Wasn’t it 3000m? We can go down to the riverbank Let’s eat by the riverbank Today we have salt-filled monaka and walnut salt-filled monaka (200 yen each) That’s strange Koma-ga-take Service Area, only for those heading up lol What do you mean? lol Let’s eat! Looks delicious! White bean paste Ah, delicious! It’s quite salty It’s in the shape of a walnut! Delicious! It has walnuts and is crunchy Alright, let’s move on to the next one Next is the roadside station Hananosato Iijima I’m going back, right? The roadside station Hananosato Iijima is next to the Shinshu Satono Confectionery Workshop Confectionery shop If you go up the road next to it towards the west there is Chininzuka Park There are campgrounds You can sleep in your car It’s a really nice place There are fishing ponds And there are hidden cafes Wow, this area is really great! We have entered Iijima Town We have arrived It’s an apple pie specialty shop This is Lily of the Valley Milk It’s cheap! 600 yen Shall we go with Shinano Gold? Apple pie from a place called APPLE PIE lab How much is this? 720 yen That was something else, wasn’t it? There were various types of apples Akibana and Fuji That’s interesting Of course, it’s Shinano Gold Looks delicious There’s a lot inside They were also selling freshly baked whole ones, available only on weekends Around 2000 yen Let’s eat That’s amazing The apple is crunchy So delicious!! It’s crowded here too Shinshu Sato no Kafukobo The sign is out, isn’t it? Thousand People Mound and the Hamburger Shop Well then, next is the Roadside Station Takigiri no Sato This is right in front of the roadside station There are a lot of amazing cherry blossom trees here There are several beautiful places with flowering peach trees nearby Also, between the roadside station Taki no Sato and the roadside station Minami Alps Mura Nagase, there’s the site of the Great Kusa Castle Park There are many beautiful cherry blossom spots This is already decided, right? There are two things to eat, though Soft serve ice cream and soba inari Because it’s delicious But there might not be any left today It’s late, you know They have soft serve ice cream, right? Fresh produce and side dishes are being sold It’s still here!! It’s Kuro-matsu Senjo around here, right? Looks delicious!! This is really delicious! Please enjoy – there is soba inside Yeah, it’s hard to tell at a glance, it looks like this Is it delicious? Delicious!! It’s so tasty Is it yuzu or sudachi? It’s delicious! The lily of the valley soft serve is 350 yen Wow, it’s huge as always! Let’s eat! Super delicious Do you need another one? lol There are restaurants here too, but only until 3 PM Wow, this place is great; the food is delicious It’s the best This lily of the valley soft serve is delicious, isn’t it? Alright, let’s move on to the next one Next is the roadside station Minami Alps Mura Nagase Near Takato Speaking of this place, there’s a super popular mini croissant There’s no way we can do it today The weekend might just be for reservations 15 km to Ina, 35 km to Tatsuno This is one road east of the national highway The road on the east side of the Tenryu River Somehow, this side feels nicer, doesn’t it? It’s open while I’m running It’s open and the view is nice You can see a lot of cherry blossoms Isn’t this Takato? That’s right Are we going right from here? From here, we will head right towards the roadside station Tourist spots around Ina in the Minami-Shin area I just mentioned Mount Komagatake, didn’t I? Kiso Komagatake But the cherry blossoms at Takato Castle Ruins Park here are also It could become a main tourist spot, right? It’s quite popular It’s about a week around mid-April That time is the best, isn’t it? When you think of Takashima, you think of Takato Manju The manju is delicious too There is also soba that you eat with a miso dip called Takato soba Soba is famous around here, after all Takato soba It’s like grilled miso You lightly roast the miso and dissolve it in the dipping sauce to eat The Chinese restaurant called Mangetsu in Takashima That is also incredibly delicious We didn’t eat last time, though The person at the restaurant said the mapo tofu is delicious too I’ve been thinking that we should go eat sometime soon In this area, I think it’s Takeda We like Chinese restaurant Mangetsu I recommend it After that, let’s take a look at various things in Kurasuwa Arriving at the café in Monterina~ It smells good! Croissant’s It smells really good, haha There was a reserved croissant They said it was all booked up I had a sample tasting, so I tried it That’s amazing! It’s fully booked by 4 PM, right? I wonder what that’s all about Awesome! They have Ina’s ramen! It seems there are also rice restaurants This place is really nice, isn’t it? I can’t buy it anymore even with a reservation I think the samples were a bit uneven before But this one is freshly baked and looks incredibly delicious Isn’t it amazing that everyone gets one each? Let’s eat! Ah~ delicious! Freshly baked It’s the best! (Since we missed the Roadside Station Ooshiba Kogen, I will introduce it in a separate video.) From here, we will cross the Tsuitachi Pass from Takato I was thinking of going down to the Suwa side If you go that way, you’ll find the roadside station Venus Line Tateshina Lake Sometimes I go to the roadside station, Shinshu Tsutaki-juku I just checked, it’s about 45 km to Venus Line, which takes around an hour Cross over the pass, okay? It’s around 5:30 Well, I should make it in time for the sunset I might be cutting it close I think I’ll give it a try I wonder if the store is already closed We are about to enter the mountain pass It’s around 4:30 now Is it 4:45? I departed at 10:30 today Please eat at the roadside station Shinshu Hiratani So it’s been about 6 hours now But today I haven’t really been wandering around that much, have I? I saw some cherry blossoms along the way I haven’t been to restaurants for meals either I haven’t been to cafes either It’s only the first time at the restaurant After that, it’s just buying snacks at the roadside station There’s not much time lost, but it still takes about this long, right? Moriyama Trailhead Entered Kayanoshi City You can see well, can’t you? Here I come down It’s a bit strange that this is set up the same way as the Ina Valley in southern Shinshu Is this the Suwa Basin, I wonder? About 10 km ago, Mount Tateshina looked really beautiful It’s still open, huh? Tateshina BASE I wonder if the restaurant is open The soft serve ice cream shop will open around April 10th There is a tourist information center You can also view information about nearby attractions It’s written here Like, skiing is over here Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms bloom from mid-April Skunk cabbage in late March Hamburger shop I’ve been to a place nearby before, but there’s a restaurant that serves delicious sausages called Peter Also, there are soba shops and cafes There is also a yakiniku restaurant called Ittou that serves Tateshina beef Next is the roadside station, Shinshu Tsutaki-juku It’s quite a distance from here Let’s go about 29 km in 40 minutes from here This is the goal Today’s goal is surprisingly achievable It’s surprisingly doable, but this place is already closed It’s a shame here Well, it’s a place I come to often, so it’s fine, but it’s a bit disappointing This place has a different atmosphere from Inaji I wonder if this area becomes the Suwa Basin It’s up there I wonder if it’s the place called Tateshina In terms of the climate of this Suwa Basin, it’s definitely because of the high altitude Winter is extremely cold, but there is little snow Compared to the north, there is less snow shoveling and such Summer is cool instead I wonder if it’s good for escaping the heat too The altitude here is about 1200 meters now If you go up, it’s about 1400m to 1500m If you go further, you can drive up to around 2000m Compared to Tokyo or sea level, 12-13 degrees is low Quite cool You need long sleeves in the morning and evening, right? It’s that kind of area There are two places you can enter with a local specialty ticket The natural hot spring Tsuta no Yu at the roadside station I am heading to Meiji Onsen Mishikano-yu, a mountain inn near Mishikakoike An onsen with incredibly good water quality Is it already called a mineral spring? It’s brown, iron-rich, and contains a lot of metasilicic acid It’s a wonderful hot spring with excellent water quality There is also a cold spring there, It’s a hot spring that is recommended even in summer Other than the goods receipt for the product There are quite a few hot springs around here If you go towards Shimosuwa, it’s probably a little to the right of Lake Suwa I guess it’s in the east? If you go, you can enjoy a tour of the outdoor baths There is Shimosuwa Onsen The temperature there is extremely high It’s getting to 48 degrees Incredibly hot hot springs w There are hot springs like that It’s a great place to enjoy hot springs The tourist spots around here, of course, include the Yatsugatake where we are now It’s the Shirakaba Lake that we went to a little while ago From there, we could extend our trip and drive along the Venus Line It’s an area where you can easily go up to 1800m and 2000m by car There are various ski resorts as well The Kita-Yatsugatake Ropeway can also be used for climbing and hiking, not just skiing That’s a great place to visit in both summer and winter You can enjoy both, right? You can go trekking in winter, and it’s nice in summer too The autumn foliage season is also very beautiful It’s really nice when it turns yellow Maybe around Lake Suwa when you go down Cycling around Lake Suwa Like going for a run When I went to Tateishi Park It’s the filming location of the movie Your Name I’m not sure if it’s called a filming location, but it feels like a place where you can see exactly that kind of scene Also, for those who enjoy alcohol, there are several sake breweries around Lake Suwa where you can go on a brewery tour There are places like Masumi and Reijin that even I know about I was wondering what the local specialties are around here After all, the altitude is high and there is a significant temperature difference I wonder if the highland vegetables are delicious What we like is a place called Hamaranoen Corn that is sweeter than melon You can eat it raw, you know I think it was introduced on Matsuko’s TV show as well There was incredibly delicious corn Vegetable-based dishes are definitely popular, aren’t they? This is a summer place What has been made since ancient times is mostly things like kanten (agar) There is a kanten shop in Kayanoshi City It’s not Kanten Papa, but there was real kanten It’s a kanten shop, right? We also use kanten powder, but it seems like they still dry it even now This is the area we’re talking about I want to mention a few recommended restaurants around here, but there are so many Delicious places are If I think of something off the top of my head First, Nordic cuisine at Gamla Stan It’s not expensive It’s really voluminous Nordic cuisine is quite rare, isn’t it? That’s why I like it here There’s a French restaurant called Kenken in Shimosuwa The place I was taken to for my birthday was incredibly delicious, right? After that, it’s located in Fujimimachi A soba restaurant called Nishimura I wonder if they are having cake with their family next door? With the cake shop as a set There is something like a soba course Finally, they serve cakes from a real cake shop next door They have a cake set that was incredibly delicious, so I highly recommend it Also, our favorite gelato is from Gelateria Picco The milk flavor is especially delicious Other than that, I think there are quite a few bakeries Delicious bakeries are everywhere This area is actually famous for eel, isn’t it? The eel from Lake Suwa is famous, and the one we went to, Unagi Kobayashi, was delicious It was incredibly delicious This is what the area around the two roadside stations in the Suwa Basin looks like After all, we’ve crossed a mountain The atmosphere is different from places like Ina This is over the mountains to the east, but… If you cross this, you’ll be heading towards Kiso in the west That’s different again The food culture of Ina is also influenced by the local specialty, which makes it a bit different I guess it must have been quite difficult to cross the mountains back in the day with just this one mountain It has a completely different atmosphere So, is it about 20 minutes to today’s best destination? In 25 minutes, we’ll reach the roadside station Shinshu Tsutaki-juku That’s why this place is perfect There are also hot springs here Because you can also have a meal Let’s have dinner here today I was just talking about it, and now I’ve passed by Hamara Noen It’s not a roadside station, but this place is kind of like one now The free farm is quite popular, isn’t it? It’s really popular, isn’t it? We have entered Fujimi Town The view is nice I always think that You can see Mount Fuji, and it is visible to the naked eye as well It’s a bit foggy, so it’s hard to see, but I can see it around the right diagonal front Because the clouds are white behind I’m almost completely blended in, but I can still see it I just got onto National Route 20 here It’s almost time, just 2 minutes left 800 meters to go I think I’ll eat some rice first I’m hungry I wonder if it’s crowded Alright, I think I’ll go around the remaining 4 areas like this Well, take your time I don’t know when it will be, but I think I’ll go around little by little I think I’ll be releasing videos once a week or once every two weeks The seasons might get mixed up It’s April now, but the next one might be in May or June I don’t really understand, haha I’m hungry I was constantly satisfied because I was snacking a little bit here and there I haven’t eaten heartily, you see I just nibble on some French bread Te no Hira Kan Let’s go to the hot springs later I wonder until what time 700 yen From 10 AM The roadside station was still open! What time are you open until? I wonder if they’re open until around 7 o’clock This place is really nice This relaxing place I’ll try going to the restaurant Since it’s the prefectural border, there are many souvenirs from Shinshu It’s going to be out of the prefecture soon This is it! Tokoroten It seems there is something like an onsen set I’ve arrived! Tempura rice bowl for 950 yen This is the Tsutaki Inn set meal for 1650 yen Luxury This can also be a tempura rice bowl, nice! It’s filled with a whole bowl of tempura rice! It looks delicious, let’s eat! Delicious That’s amazing! It even includes a kiss The tempura okra is delicious You’ve been eating since this morning, haven’t you? Today’s dinner included, 7,180 yen The total does not include the gasoline cost, though Surprisingly, it’s not being used much Have breakfast too And a little bit more How about filling up with gasoline? I’ve driven about 240 km Well, it depends on the car, but it’s around 3000 to 4000 yen Also, the cost of the hot spring is not included The hot spring fee is just a voucher for the bath, but Isn’t it good if we can enjoy ourselves to the fullest on the first day at this price? I was able to eat a variety of things Each roadside station has its own unique features Interesting!!
