【佐賀】1日で22万人来てる有田陶器市の初日に初心者が行くとこうなる笑
Hello, this is Dora Travel. This time, we will report on the Arita Pottery Fair in Saga Prefecture. This time, we’ll be introducing the atmosphere of the Arita Pottery Festival, Japan’s largest pottery event, held during the 2025 Golden Week holiday. We’ll be introducing the atmosphere of the event. First, we headed to the “Ichiran” ramen shop at the Koga Service Area. It’s a bit pricey, but sometimes I just can’t resist craving this. I arrived in Saga the day before the pottery fair. I stayed at “Takeo,” which is close to the venue and also offers hot springs. The hotel is right in front of Takeo Station, the accommodation fees are reasonable, and this hotel was the perfect choice. This year, I’d like to visit more hot spring inns. I’d like to visit hot springs in a yukata and enjoy the meals at the inns. It feels like it’s going to be the best trip ever. We also plan to post videos of hot springs soon. This channel is about traveling around western Japan by car. If you’re interested or want to support us, please hit the Like button, subscribe to the channel, and turn on notifications. The number of visitors to the 2025 Pottery Fair was a staggering 1.14 million. There was no rain during the event period, and it seems that more people visited than in previous years. There was already heavy traffic and crowds before arriving at the venue. The highest attendance was on the first day with 220,000 people. Saga City has a population of 229,000, so the crowd was beyond imagination. This was my first time at a pottery fair, and I had no idea what to expect. It was a reckless attempt, but I decided to dive right in on the first day. For those thinking of going to the Arita Pottery Fair, especially on the first day I hope this is helpful, but be prepared because there are so many people …I hope that comes across There are various parking lots, but I left with the plan to arrive at “Arita Sera” at 9:00 AM. At first, I thought there were surprisingly few, but they were almost full. There are shuttle buses from “Aritsera” to the main venue, mainly these three. Bus 2 departs from in front of the station, and bus 3 departs from behind the station, but both go to almost the same destination. However, bus 2 is larger, so I recommend taking the bus bound for the Lifelong Learning Center. I think it would be better to go to the main street first and take our time looking around on the way back. The main street is about 4 kilometers from Arita Station to Kami-Arita Station. The slope is a bit steep, so if you want to take it easy, I recommend going from Kami-Arita to Arita. I found this out later, haha. There are about 400 shops lined up, and the pedestrian-only street is filled with people walking. If you want to get the best items, the first day is definitely the best. Moreover, early morning seems to be the ideal time. It’s best to leave early in the morning, get off at Ue-Arita Station, and go to the store you want to visit. The “Hasami Pottery Festival” is being held nearby at the same time, and a shuttle bus runs back and forth between Arita Station and the Hasami venue. The bus is a paid service. Even if you don’t like crowds, you can overcome your discomfort if you have something you want to buy. Let’s walk about 4 kilometers from Arita Station. The pottery market is an event that has been held for over 100 years. The town was once a pilgrimage route for Buddhist pilgrims. The Arita Pottery Fair began in 1896 with the first pottery exhibition held for pilgrims. The venue was covered with red carpets, and many rare products were displayed, eventually attracting large crowds. It seems that ceramics were sold cheaply even back then, and the trend of selling ceramics at low prices continues to this day. Here we are! Our main destination is Koransha. Keizan Kiln and Fukagawa Seiji Even at the outlet, the expensive items are still expensive. The price tags seemed to have one too many zeros. If you want to get the best deals during the pottery fair, the last day seems to be the best time to go. Also, when you go, wear comfortable walking clothes and bring a backpack or suitcase. Pottery is surprisingly heavy. I walked to the next station. I took a side street called “Tonbai-be no Dori.” Here, I suddenly came to my senses and realized I had gone over budget. Haha. “Tonbai” refers to the fire-resistant bricks used to build climbing kilns. There was a café that soothed my tired body. Once you leave the main street, there are hardly any people around, so take a break if you’re tired. There was a long line for the yam konnyaku. I wanted to try it. For the return bus, we used the “Lifelong Learning Center” side. A bus the size of a tour bus will arrive. This is what I got from the pottery fair this time. The main purpose was to get the “Kouran-sha” cup and saucer. I’m glad I was able to buy it. It’s so beautiful that I can’t even tell what’s wrong with it. And a bowl with a lid. I want to eat a katsu donburi that’s so big the lid won’t close, haha. The return trip from the station area to the Hasami-Arita Interchange is very congested. So, when returning to Fukuoka, I took a detour via Prefectural Road 107 and entered the interchange from Hasami Town, and there was no traffic jam at all. The Arita Pottery Fair was bustling with activity. I’m so glad I went on the first day. Even if you have no interest in pottery or don’t know much about it, you might just find your perfect piece. Why not visit it once? See you on the next trip. Bye for now.
